The main competition to the Bowie knife from the late 1830's to the period just after the Civil War was the Arkansas Toothpick. The Arkansas Toothpick got its namesake as an ironic reference to the coarse, rough and tumble culture that populated the lowlands of Arkansas and the Mississippi delta in the mid 19th century. Travelling journalists from Europe often made up stories about how they commonly saw men and old boys picking their teeth with giant knives that they dubbed Arkansas Toothpicks. Like the Bowie it was frequently a large knife almost always double edged with a sharp acute point. The knife almost always had a double quillon guard and many were fancy and some imitated the Bowies of the day in size and appearance. Sure, some were plain, but most were elaborately decorated. Our version has a substantial double edge spear point blade, with a Malaysian Sal wood handle and a fancy pommel with an alligator motif. The scabbard is equally stunning, it's finely made and decoratively enhanced to complement the handle.

I love how their demonstrations are still as badass as ever
I heard an Arkansas toothpick was a raccoon pen15 bc residents if that state put them in their mouths is that true?
...if you remember, Davy Crockett referred to himself as 'half horse half alligator'...
And he carried an Arkansas toothpick
@@phillipmargrave and he had a poopdick.
Half horse and half alligator that was from the movie bad day at Blackwell with Spencer Tracy starring

At least one of his knives still survives. Saw it in Nashville back I '83. It was double edged.
Love that Lynn is still there doing his thing.
Another great knife from what I call " the historically inspired collection". I really miss the parking lot sales. Hasn't slowed my Cold Steel collection down any though.
I love watching the CS demonstration videos. :) They always help me when making purchases.
I love blades of the civil war. Fascinating period.
I wanted one of these since you guys announced them, long wait! Absolutely exquisite fittings! So glad you made a quality Arkansas toothpick, until now there only was custom or cheap options
As a big fan of cold steel bowies and daggers, this is so perfect and absolutely beautiful
Great to see LT still representing 👏
Cold Steel has done it again with a historic Arkansas toothpick. This knife will be a great gift for a family member or for you. I seen other CZcams reviews on the toothpick. Good steel and quality built.
What an amazing coincidence. I was just contemplating an ideal larger blade for espada y daga method, and this came up! This would be perfect, especially since the daga component involves a lot more thrusting. Cold Steel makes notoriously robust blades, and I'd be confident of this one standing up to some hard use!
Очередной шедевр!
Спасибо за шоу!
Cold Steel is my go to blade company. I've been happy with any blade I've gotten from you guys.
Now that is one mean toothpick! I love Cold Steel's variety of weapon and designs. From swords to axes to knives I have quite a few Cold Steel weapons, and I have had my eye on the Arkansas Toothpick for a while. Can't wait for some of your other products to come back in stock. Keep up the good work 👍🔪
Cant decide between this one and the Wild West Bowie... Awesome job as always
Been waiting for this to show up for almost a year. Awesome. Hopefully get one for Christmas if they're still around.
Beautiful toothpick! +1 for the perfect throw in the end.
Lovely design. It is nice to see you are bringing some designs into your product line. I must get this one.
That is a stunner!!!! An absolute work of art!!! Shared!
I need this knife for Christmas
In his book Travels In North America from 1834-1836, Englishman Charles Augustus Murray wrote about the knife carrying habits of the residents of Kentucky while he was visiting that state, saying...
"This instrument was displayed on every occasion just as one might display a walking cane. I have seen several well-dressed Kentuckians, who probably think themselves much injured if they were not considered gentlemen of the first grade picking their teeth with these elegant pocket companions in public."
Indeed the Arkansas toothpick started out as a folding Bowie and developed into the double-edge pig sticker we know today. Actually there were a lot of Sheffield Bowie knives that were labeled as toothpicks.
@@johnovanic9560 , Oh, for sure, the Sheffield makers pounced in on the Bowie knife craze almost immediately, even during Jim Bowie's own lifetime! They started etching all kinds of little slogans on them, typically whatever they thought might appeal to American patriotism and Manifest Destiny: "California Knife", "Texas Toothpick", and actual slogans like "Never draw me without cause, nor sheathe me without honour"!😁
Absolutely AWESOME I want one ‼️

Beautifully crafted!
This thing is a monster. Mine arrived a week ago and I have nothing bad to say about it. It's also beautiful, I'll definitely be reviewing it tomorrow
Is it sharp?
@@bsm6776 oh yeah, I wouldn't say it's hair shaving or paper cutting sharp but it will definitely do the things you see in the video

Cool man, leave a link and I'll give it a watch
is it full tang?
I was born in Arkansas and lived here my entire life and I’ve never seen one! It’s amazing. I love it.
Well they were somewhat popular in your area around 180 years ago..
Beautiful blade! Nice throw at the end.
Who wouldn't like a beautiful beefy blade like that! 🥰
What a beautiful blade. I dig the throw at the end there, Stick Man. Always a fan of Cold Steel.

Im waiting for the day that CS decides to make a rendition to the Fairbairn Sykes Figthing knife.
Thanks Lynn and crew. Amazing video! I truly need one of these to fully become a Billy Bad Ass! 😂
Sure hope I win! Tnx
This looks awesome!
Great looking knife
Shared on Facebook, love Cold Steel anything
a real cool tool grate for the holiday carving
It looks awesome, and perfect name 👍👍
That is very cool great video. Take care Keith.
My favourite knifes on the planet ❤.
gorgeous piece of cutlery
Being a civil war era blade, you can tell that it’s basically the southern American evolution of the dirk carried by frontier immigrants from the Scottish highlands. Absolutely love the look and design of the blade.
Amazing Blade!Greets from The Netherlands!
Signed up.and shared. Awesome knife
There is no any similar toothpick on the market with such origin decoration and at the same time so sharp(as usually💪😉)..And I am very proud it was only again and again Cold Steel who remembered this knife period from swamps there with unique half horse half aligator ....👍👍👏👏👏
That is a well made dagger, I am hoping to get one soon!
What a piece !❤😊
Excellent!
Great looking knife. Good luck everyone. Shared
Nice, I am in love!
Love that thing !!
Absolute beast of a traditional toothpick style blade
These knives are just amazing
Gorgeous! Shared!
I need one ...or two of these. That was a great throw at the end of this video.🗡️
Very sharp weapon!
I love this design.
That’s gorgeous!))
I know lyn sold the company but it’s good to see him still doing promos
Man back in the day
I had several Bud K
Arkansas toothpicks
Bowie's and kukris
I need this Cold sleek blade
Thank you Lynn!!
🖖🖖🖖🖖🖖🖖🖖🖖🖖🖖
Bud K marketing offends me. So aggressive mirroring in app purchases. Honshu came crooked. Hibbon too expensive for what it is. But hey, those skull maosn jars are top notch! Lol!
Cool looking knife!!!
That is good looking, great one c/s
Man I've always been a big fan of this weapon
Nice, that's a beast!
Man, that is super pokey pokey, nasty blade.
That's a pick and a half.
Thanks for showing it.
Love the look of the knife
Very nice!!!
HELL YES!!! a must have
Stickman doin a Arkansas Toothpick stick&stab vid is killer!! Killer blade &killer vid knife bro!!
I bought one of these it’s awesome but one critic I have is the metal end cap on the sheath bangs against the edge which dulls it a bit at the base of edge. It can be avoided if you pull it out very carefully, but just casually withdrawing it scrapes the edge on metal. Fix that one flaw and it would be perfect.
What's the Tang Configuration on that knife
For your situation right now however, I'd say take some sandpaper and magic those ends down, if it's a tight fit get creative, sorry for your minor issue. The secure-x sheaths are known for this aswell
I went to the website, yes, cold steels website and the specs say, 5oz, American. What the hell is that? No blade steel? This looks like a windless, is it just 1055 CS? Anyone else thinking this is a hand and a half dagger with new furniture?
By the way, I love Cold Steel, I just want to know everything about my blade, I like windless too.
@@gaslampnation735 they have aus10a in their stock, steel they do quite well with. I don't see why they wouldn't just use that and not leave us guessing. It's not the best steel they have, but it's also not the worst they have aswell.
Awesome!
I did what you asked. liked, subscribed and shared. Very cool item.
One hell of a knife !
Thanks for the info.
Luv it!
Oooh, had one from US Calvary a long time ago, it was just for show, but this is a beautiful beast
I remember the US Cavalry catalog! They were great with the fun sales pitches and well written descriptions of the items. Good times.
Great looking blade
Wow what a great looking knife.
This is exactly what I'm looking for!
I’m not sure when the give away will be but I would be super happy to add this to my collection. I’m a long time cold steel fan and knife collector ever since I received a promotional dvd as a gift from someone at my church who knew I loved knives. Ever since then I’ve been a huge fan and am sure to recommend to everyone I know. My personal favorite is my axegang hatchet which I use all the time for brush clearing. Anyway, I’d be thrilled to win this awesome blade!
Robert Willis here. Great knife.
That thing looks awesome
Thanks guys, I just bought one :-)
Awesome 😀
Gotta love that blade shape
Liked & Shared. So awesome
Beautiful knife
