Donnie! SO glad you mentioned James Black he is a legendary near mythical knifesmith here in Arkansas. Also glad you mentioned the fact the various styles of toothpick and the fact bowies and picks as my grandpa called em are different. The most common lengths I have seen are 12-14 inches in the more historical blades. Again just my experience. Hey with a 17" blade the Boggy Creek Monster would be afraid! Oh and yeah they were thick beasts that could slash effectively. Oh Randall knives makes some but they are expensive and blade lengths are 6 inches and either 10 or 12 inches. Like I said expensive like around $1000 and a 5 year wait. Great design and a great build by KHHI.
Whoo boy I can't wait to get my hands on one of these. I have been anticipating this reveal since you announced the design phase. Epic blade, sir. Home run.
Thats more like an Arkansas Excalibur! Haha! Fantastic looking design, man. Elements of it remind me of the influence that old world blades, like the highland dirks of Scotland, had on the development of American blade designs like the Arkansas toothpick. Any idea what the weight is in this bad boy? I’m thinking I’m getting me one of these whenever they’re available!
Wow Donnie, that Arkansas Toothpick, is a defacto Short Sword! One of my Bullet Customer's is a knife guy who sent me this awesome video, as I was looking for an Arkansas Toothpick for defense against Bears and Wild Boars. I saw another CZcamsr's video review on the TZ Knives Toothpick and got both of them. I will look into this behemoth. Thanks for the information, Happy New Year 2024!
Very cool knife Donnie B. Love the blade and the handle is awesome with the wide end. Awesome historical review on this blade as I was never 100% on the history of this blade. Your explanation explained everything! Cheers Dave 🇺🇸 🇳🇿
I got my Arkansas toothpick it's every bit as good as you said it was in fact I'm ordering another one with a 30 inch blade and a 10-inch handle can't wait to see that one
Hey man, seeing you CHOP LOGS into pieces and actually "throwing" that tapered blade, 100% sold me Don! That blade IS as tough as it is pretty!!! You proved it right here!!! Ordered! Can't wait to get it too!!! Excellent work bro...
Ive looked at these on the website and after watching this entire video im really impressed with the stabbing, slashing and chopping ability. Hard to decide which dbad knife to get next!
The arkansas toothpick was developed entirely for personal defense and hunting pigs, spears, shotguns and rifles tended to be as dangerous to the hunting dogs and hunters as it was to the pig, so they had a need for a big sturdy dagger to get through the pigs shoulder-shield safely. The dogs would wear the boar out, then you would move in with your toothpick, grab a hind leg while the dogs pinned its other limbs and head and you stuck it, i highly doubt anyone stood in front of a charging boar and waited for it to impale itself, that was a tactic for use with a boar spear though, which had the crossguard that kept the spear from over penetrating and allowed you to pin the animal down.
I just ordered mine and my man when I opened up the page and saw the price it was being sold for...my brain couldn't process that I'd be getting all that blade for a more then fair price, I was expecting and willing to pay over 200 for that and with my reviewer's discount I got it for even less !!

I'm putting in an order for one soon, I've been looking for something in that girth category. What's the point of balance on that beaut? Love the hat too
...what a blade..! can't wait to order mine! however, what do you think about a slightly shorter 15' blade...??? just to make it a bit more maneuverable...??? or would that harm the overall balance and therefore i should stick to the 17" blade...???
The balance is measured for 17". You can go 15" but then maybe take an inch off the handle. I personally haven't measured for it, so I'm not sure if it would swing right. If true balance isn't important you can go to 15" and it will just be handle heavy
