This was great! I remember reaching high C for the first time and I went rushing in to my mom and told her, "I got up to high C last evening". Whereas she replied, " That's nothing, I got up to P in the middle of the night". True story, God rest her soul.
holy crap thats exactly what i did im a freshmen in high school and when i hit that high C i was like "Mom holy crap did you hear me do that?" and she was like "nice" .......nice? NICE!! WTF WOMAN YOU MEAN FKING AWESOME!
Roland Cadiz OMG SAME
Roland Cadiz Freshman checking in, get back to me when you hit that triple D.
the worst is when you play a high HIGH a or a flat, and she just says "that was high" i was like "OMFG mom! high doesnt begin to cover that note"
Robert Wallace I remember hitting triple high f
Doc Severinsen! Woot! Monster high notes, gorgeous clear tone, and musical class.
Carson's Tonight Show band made greatness look so easy...
Doc is the most under-rated and cleanest player you'll ever hear.
Trumpet screaming is the reason I live
Yes I am still playing.
the boss
What a god!
What ab now?
Probably the same amount of pain playing it as listening to it. Jesus.
Charles E. Its sound beautiful though....
I love how vizzutti's face does not change from low notes to high notes. it looks effortless!!
not many people in that stadium really appreciate or even know how hard it is to hit that note and even worse jumping the octave like that perfectly takes skill
mini hoov jep!
High note worship videos are cool, but my favorites are musical clips that show off the upper register with control. Out of the many screamers in the world, very few can play soft and controlled in the upper register. Of course, screaming high and loud gets all the attention. :)
2:36 That cameraman's double-take NEVER gets old!!
I'm honored to be on this video. And yes Wayne Bergeron is better than me....WAY better.
Which one is you
+Anthony Jackson he is the second video. Scott dean blue devils soloist 01-05. How can you not know this!? Haha just kidding. Just type in his name, search and have fun..
Alright solid
+Scott Dean Scott Dean 0-0
+Giovanni Pierson BD '01-'05?? Does the name Jeremy Goldberg ring a bell, 2002? Trumpet player
Great job on Sandoval's part for playing the Anthem so well under so much pressure. Outstanding player.
When you reach the age of "older than you want to be", you will be forced to give up some things. Many years ago I did that to the trumpet and turned to the flamenco guitar. The high C is a thing of the past now and I need help getting up to p in the middle of the night. It was a good run and I hit my first high c almost sixty years ago, that's over a half a century. Music once in your veins, remains forever.
Arturos triple c is perfect
Sebastian Kirschner when it's actually a double c. but you're right
best girl singing group
I don't think you can really appreciate how amazingly hard this is until you play a brass instrument.
To answer this again: the group playing at 1:09 is Mnozil Brass. The show is called "medley" but the video that had the clip from this lead trumpet screaming video was removed, or made very very hard to find. It no longer shows up in my search history, likes, favorites, or when searched. There is one version of Medley on youtube, but I don't like it near as much as the version that was used for this video.
Doc Severinsen gets a good trumpet sound. He makes the rest look like
high school kids.
+Mark H Well Mark. It's nice that we're all entitled to our own opinion. Doc is not my favorite however. It doesn't matter who is. I'd be hard pressed to choose one. I think comparing ALL of the others to "high school kids"is a "Little Over The Edge". Experience? I've been playing Trumpet & Flugelhorn for a little over 15 years now. Thanks.
Hiya Doc!
I've heard 'em all. Bill Chase and Wayne Bergeron are STILL my two favorite lead players.
Fantastic video! Thanks for uploading. Awesome!!
This is more than just Lead playing...some damn good improv!
Such a great performance. Please keep posting more videos.
I loved how this video has two clips of Blue Devils! SICK
Best performances I've seen!
To anyone that reads this. Just because you play high doesn't mean youre a screamer. Ive met some humble ass people that have incredible range and refuse to give themselves the title of a "screamer." None of you are special if you all have the same damn story. "I'm 16 a sophomore and I'm my bands screamer. Im also unaware that although I can play high my air support and tone are both really shitty."
I'm a lead trumpet, and only have managed to pull off one scream. I was dizzy beyond all belief afterward. This is why you don't do screams at 16.
Sebastian Alvarez Me and you both. Those double C's and up always sound impressive but they always need more work to be perfect.
Byklon Z I've seen some 16 year old screamers though
Sebastian Alvarez Exactly
My definition of a screamer is someone who can play above the range of a typical lead trumpet player in a big band (up to a high G) with amazing tone and strength.
If Screaming on a trumpet is your goal the go for it. Learn to play it properly first.
I've been looking for 4:30 all over youtube, THANK YOU
I just picture Vizzuti rolling out of bed in the morning already wearing a 3pc suit. Lol
Fantastic job putting this clip together!
AWSOME COLLECTION OF SCREAMERS! I really appreciate this!!!! this is coming from a Trombone player!!!!!! nice collection of licks....even dug the Blue Devils section!
HA! Love the Blue Devil and Future Corps clips. Mnozil Brass as well.
How fantastic!!! just love it! thanks
4:53 lol wtf is that guy doing? lol made me laugh more than anything
Vexurath that's the man himself Patrick "dumbass" Hession
Vexurath he's a disease, he just wanted to show off and try to make people think that he's better
I LOVE ALL U GUYS, TRUMPETS!!
Part 3 better be an hour long
Agreed. So many times guys just play fast and high seemingly just to do so. He does it effortlessly and just like he's hitting middle C. Such great tone and the first part of the note sounds like the end.
easily best video on youtube!
That clip is on youtube, it's called 'Mnozil brass rocking out'. Awesome recording... they're bloody incredible. I'm going to watch them at the Sydney Opera House this September, i can't wait!
@JazzyJonas The guy playing happy birthday is Jeff Ayres. He's my trumpet instructor. It's really cool to see him on this list!!!!
thanks for ending the video with maynard! he was the greatest screamer :-D
Being an all state first chair first seat trumpet player for 3 years, in high school. I can tell you all this squealing and screaming is nothing more than a bedazler. It's all in the mouth piece.
Gene Hall Mouthpieces rarely assist in range, from my experience. It will let you stay at the top of your range for longer, but most likely won't bump it up much.
As an alleged all stater 1st chair for 3 years…then you’d know that horn and player are the other 2 parts. It ain’t all mouthpiece Mr “1st Chair 1st Seat”. Hahaha
The first player is Walt Johnson after Bill Chase and some band members died in a plane crash, that is off the fourth CHASE album, "Watch Closely Now" and features Walt Johnson on screaming trumpet.
It's so beautiful.....
His name is Scott Dean. He marched blue devils. Wasn't in high school at the time. He was 21 in that clip. He aged out that year.
i thought that the first (give or take) 20seconds of this is about the greatest thing ive ever heard.... then i watched the rest of it ...0_0
Dude, I saw your username and had to comment. I went to UT as well and also was in saxophone studies for a while!
Oh- I see it now. Thanks!
Yes, I know a bit about Arturo, seen a concert, have a few CDs. That was younger Arturo. I thought the guy looked kinda familiar.
0:44-1:00 makes it look so effortless... THE MAN
thanks a bunch :)
Give It One, from M.F. Horn II, 1972 (although obviously a live version in this video).
Awesome!!
all these guys yankin out the box! damn..i love it! Glad to be a trumpet player!
Thanks
Yeah, Mr. Bergeron: huge fan. He's, among other groups, the lead trumpet of the orchestra who performed on The Incredibles soundtrack.
The last song is bad ass as hell O.O
+Electro-Cute give it one
I normally hate screaming trumpets, but that was pretty sweet. haha RIP Maynard.
I would have like 2:50 at the end but Ferguson is still the best and most well known. Just amazing.
this....is....AMAZING
Anybody notice that Doc Severinsen is the only one that gets a good sound
up there? The rest are just mice caught in a mousetrap.
Mark H you obviously havent seen wayne bergeron live
I can feel my lips bleeding from watching this video
@eddieleeshort y
This is a Maynard Ferguson tribute band, featuring Wayne Bergeron, Patrick Hession and Eric Miyashiro.
Gotta love maynard!
Scott, I am just a high school fan and hopefully a marcher for any corp on mellophone, but that solo is absolutely amazing. You definitely deserved it. You should also start putting out videos of you playing on your channel.
I was about to practice my trumpet skills, but then I came across this clip and now I'm too tired to begin.
amazing
@Empeizan yeah, its called gansch horn, designed by Gansch brothers and Schagerl, pretty sexy horn in my opinion
that first trumpet video....holy ****.
as a trumpet player who is accomplished..i tip my hat off to all these "high flyers" holy crapola...and yeah..chills...whew!!
The person playing the highnotes was not chace. It was Walt Johnson, bill had already passed away
very nice
I recognize Dave Monette's shop in one of the clips. Cool.
This is a Maynard Ferguson tribute band, featuring Wayne Bergeron, Patrick Hession and Eric Miyashiro.
4:27 currently the BEST trumpet player in the world
Very cool video
Great way to end it with Give it One!!
I love that the first like shot is of a Blue Devil!!
A shitty blue devil.
@saxdrummer92 he is! check 2:30 that's him playing with the lincoln center jazz orchestra
In reference to the video clip at 4:27. Eric Miyashiro is the one with the longest hair, Wayne Bergeron is the one with the glasses, and the last one is Patrick Hession. Search on youtube: "Gonna Fly Now (Wayne Bergeron and Eric Miyashiro)". Hope I helped :) *PS..I put the link in the original comment, but stupid youtube wouldnt let me comment with the link in it.
Doc's the only one who made those notes sound like notes instead of noise.
Not to knock all the other players but Maynard really had something special.
@acaskey15
I knew what it was called my high school jazz band plays it, I just couldn't find it anywhere, thanks!
@ZangetsuVsPantera586 The part at 4:30 is listed in CZcams as Gonna Fly Now Maynard Ferguson Tribute
i like it when the screaming fits into the song and isnt just random screaming
Monzil Brass they are spectacular
@jimnopidy Most play not just shallow, but very small diameter (shallow makes bright and small diameter makes easier high notes). But not all of them do. Adam Rapa plays on Monette Mouthpieces that are about the diameter of a Bach 3C. Arturo Sandoval plays on a Mt Vernon Bach 3C (which is bigger and deeper than a modern 3C).
@llxestryll it's gonna fly now, this particular one is the tribute of goods fly now for Maynard Ferguson
Anything with Arturo is going to automatically be Godlike in nature.
Omg, mnozil brass was on here. My life is completed
Pretty impressive. Ive always wanted to play trumpet like these guys. I play horn though.
im a trombone player...
my lips started to hurt just watching this.
damn egomaniacal trumpet players :P
Played with Wayne Bergeron in high school. Such a cool guy!
4:35
nice montage.. Arturo, Doc, Walt Johnson.. great stuff.. who's the long haired trombonist, very impressive.. and i dig the marching band arrangement of Hello Groceries.. and Bochawa, great Chase tribute! Thanks for putting this together and posting it!
@jajomokototo it's from the their dvd (magic moments) and it's not posted on the youtube that's why i left it out
Wow - where did you find all those clips???? Great stuff! Have any more????
@AcidLifeform His name is Jeff Ayres. He's my trumpet instructor!!! Unfortunately I haven't gotten his range yet. lol YET
I’m 16 and I started playing trumpet 4 months ago. F above a high c is the highest note I can play for an extended period of time. I can go higher but not for more then a few counts
@AcidLifeForm The clip of Mnozil Brass is called Mnozil Brass Rocking Out. Its really fucking cool
@tkalion92 At 6:02 just before Ferguson was Mnozil Brass. Check out the video "Mnozil Brass - Moldavia" for some really good articulation in the second half.
How did I make this video? I have NO business being up here with these dudes. But thanks to who ever made the video.
Actually it's in a video called "Mnozil brass rocking out" and it's towards the end
Wow
That hit some big memories (and notes)
Need such passion, power and precision re life these days
After reading the comments, I'm tempted to rant about screaming (squealing) on my clarinet…
or wishing I'd played trumpet (or G bugle with the Madison Scouts drum corps.
I worshipped Maynard and Doc (and the Scouts screamers)… seeing them up close live a few times.
