  • We visited Chico today to try a new dish called Monjayaki for the first time. The meal began with a Teppanyaki stir-fry of squid tentacles and vegetables. After cleaning the grill, we had the cheese Monjayaki, which shares most ingredients with okonomiyaki but has a thinner, more loose batter. Its texture resembles a loose batter with veggies, akin to a stir-fry with a thick gravy-like sauce-it was quite tasty.
We also ordered okonomiyaki, a cabbage pancake with meat, okonomiyaki sauce, mayonnaise, seaweed, and Bonito flakes. I personally preferred the okonomiyaki for its texture and the array of toppings. Lastly, we got yakisoba noodles for the kids, as they weren't quite full from the meal. Overall, the dining experience was fantastic. Everything was cooked hot and fresh on the Teppanyaki grill.
However, if you're very hungry, be aware that this is an interactive dining experience where you cook your own food, which takes time. Plan for a couple of hours or more. Despite this, it was a very enjoyable experience overall. I would highly recommend trying Monjayaki if you're looking to try something new!
