#diyproject#chickens#coop - Jak na to + styl
Love this coop! I built mine out of treated 2x2s as a walk-in A frame but this is so much nicer. To cut hardware cloth, just use an old pair of scissor hedge clippers (or borrow your neighbors, lol) Zip right through it.
Jigsaw with a speed square. I cant believe this is the first place I have seen this. Brilliant!
Thanks for posting and sharing. Appreciate you giving credit to the original plan / person A highly functional coop for a smaller flock
Thanks!
OMG, my original chicken coop design has same poop tray and two tier roost bar exactly like you have. After um-teen design iterations, I ended up doing the deep liter method. I think landed on the same video you mentioned to spark my interest to build a coop when I was searching for ideas. LOL. You did a wonderful job.
Yeah Chris has some great design ideas!
Great build! This is the style I've been eyeing for a while now. I like the simplicity of the lean-to roof, the covered egg access and the droppings clean out methodology. I also really want to build a coop that could be easily moved. Just setting it on leveled pavers, perhaps just putting down a couple tap-con screws into the pavers to keep the wind from lifting it, and just lag bolting the run to the coop for easy separation would make this very easy to move to a new location on the property using a utility trailer.
While moving is great, the one problem I have with that is making sure your chickens are secure. I'm going to extend the hardware cloth for my walls 2 feet deep on all sides (yeah, costly). If you move the coop, how do you make sure animals can't dig through the bottom to get to it?
@@dontbanmebrodontbanme5403 If you look at the other builds, a lot of people don't worry about burying the hardware cloth, instead they put large rocks (6-12" diameter rocks) lining the hardware cloth to ground contact around the entire coop/run and the animals that tend to dig under like racoons, possums and foxes can't dig with the large rocks in the way. I think it looks great that way too.
Brave little toaster, the furnace, or the vacuum
This is a great build, and I appreciate all of your tutorials. The is exactly the size of a coop I was looking to build. I'm going to try to piece it together and hopefully, it comes out as nice as yours did. I've watched several other tutorials, and I'll be getting the plans for those, Thanks for all you do. I appreciate how simple you make things. Thanks again!
🙌
The movie is “Chicken Run”. Pretty fitting! Great video, thanks
This is great. I just finished watching the Third Coast Craftsman video, but I like the size of yours a bit better. I think once spring comes I’ll look at scrapping our current coop and building something similar to yours. Great video!
Awesome! Your birds will love it!
I was bored when I clicked on this video, bc I have been watching these types of vids for hours! But I became entertained quick! I love the coop it came out stunning!! This vid helped me out a lot, thank you!! I also watched the vid from your friend Third Coast Craftsmen, his came out nice too. I like how good your carpentry skills are!! Have fun making other projects!! happy chickening!! ( I know I put this on a little more than late I'm sorry)
I just adore all chicken coops! Your girls are precious in their new coop
Ha! Thanks. They are very happy to not be in their brooder anymore 🤣🤣
the vacuum from "The Brave Little Toaster" is what the front looks like to me
🐔🐔🐔🐔CHICKENS CRACK ME UP! GREAT BUILD!🐔🐔🐔🐔
I really like this coup, very clever design.
I love it! Can you please share the list and measurements for all material? Thank you.
Great looking coop I’ll be doing one just like it soon just with a longer run 👍🏽
Great video and love the slanted floor under the roost.
Great video. Thanks for sharing!
I really like the size of this - I've seen others that are too small to get into and clean or they are too large and a pain to maintain. Great build!
Agree! This one is a great size!
Very nice! I'm building a new chicken coop now, and it sure is a fun project. You gave me some great ideas. Thanks!
we got these plans from the original channel. Good to see someone else build it. My wood order should be here by monday.
Great job. Thanks for sharing.
I’m watching and learning b/c I’m going to attempt make a chicken coop is Summer.
I have probably watched 20 videos so far and yours is my favorite.
Thank you
Bo from Cincy
We built this from Chris's plans this summer. Made a lot of the similar adjustments as you to make it smaller. Looks great!
Thanks Nathan! We love how it turned out
Had issue with Chris is plans, for paid plans it was not clear! But I made some adjustments to suite me.
where can i find chris's plans for purchase? Thanks in advance!
@@dwaynelejeune3508. I just bought and downloaded the plans also. Could you tell me what issues you had with them, so that we hopefully can avoid that? My husband is going to build it but he's not very confident when it comes to construction projects, so any advice would be appreciated.
@@zillaking29 I see it's been 6 months since you asked where the plans could be bought but if you're still wondering, they are on Third Coast Craftsman CZcams video. The link is below his video. Plans were $14.99.
Damn… it looks so intimidating, but I’m giving it a shot at making one this week! I somehow have all these tools laying around in my garage so I might as well put them to use !! Thank you for taking the time to film and edit this tutorial ! 😄
You're very welcome 🙏
@@MWAWoodworks are the plans available anywhere ? Link no longer works
@@MWAWoodworks I want plans aswell
@@JosueRivera. He said he was inspired by the one built by Third Coast Craftsman, who also has a CZcams video and sells the plans for $14.99. I just purchased mine and can't wait to have it built. The plans seem very detailed and come with full materials list for the coop alone or for the coop/run combo. Can also scale the size up or down according to your needs.

Great build. The cartoon it reminded me of was Duckman.
Well done!
Thanks for sharing the knowledge. 🫡
Awesome build. Looks great.
Thanks!
Is the cartoon character Howard the Duck? Lol. It looks like someone for sure. Great design, I may want to redo my coop like this
This is so awesome!!!
! ! ! AWESOME JOB ! ! !
However, Let Me Say That the perches must be round, with a diameter of 3.5 cm (1.377 inches), not smooth (like bamboo) and without bark or cracks to avoid the proliferation of parasites,
And Ideal angle of the perch is 45º, because that way, one bird does not defecate on top of the other.
That It !
Congrats !
Looks like a character from the brave little toaster 😁😁😁 this looks awesome though. Makes me think I could do it
Fantastic work, Matt! 😃
I did watch Chris's video as well!
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Thank you!
Looks really good 👍
Great vid!!
Wish I could do something like this. This oils be perfect. Being a resent widow I this this is outside my skill level. This would be perfect I’d like to start off with about 4-6 chickens
Nice job 👍
Awesome build!! And personally, I thought of Perry the platypus from Phineas and Ferb! 🤣
I see Perry too!
Looks good! Looks like Chucky from Rugrats
The window looks like the character from brave little toaster
Sweet!! I bet you get better eggs with happy chickens!!
Let's hope!
Just subscribed! Your channel is awesome and this is a very innovative and easy to make coop
Thank you!
Love it!!!!!
Hi Matt. I think the cartoon character you were thinking the coop looked like was either one of the robots from Futurama or Gumball. Either way, nice build.
Spot on!
Nice alterations ! I used the same design from 3rd coast. I made mine 8 ft long and did the door on both sides and lined the bottom with linoleum. Works good for my flock ! Your door is pretty nice ! I don't have any fancy tools and ended up using a skil saw and jig saw.
Linoleum is a great idea. I just put about 2 inches of construction sand in the bottom of the coop. We love it so far.
Yes! We're using Third Coast design and going slightly bigger, too. Such clever ideas Chris had. And I was also thinking about a linoleum floor - great minds working alike?
Same here, I just purchased the building plans from Third Coast Craftsman. Gonna go with the original size and I also want the linoleum on the floor to help protect the wood and hopefully have it last longer. Now if I can just get my husband to start the build...he's a very handy guy but not very confident about woodwork and construction. I'd try it myself but probably give him a heart attack to see me using power tools. 😂
Bagus pak, saya juga penggemar ayam, sehat selalu....
Great video. Awesome build. 👌
Thanks!
I love this I bought plans for coop but need it smaller . How did you figure out the dimensions to make smaller overall.
Muito bom ! 🇧🇷
Very interesting!👍
Oh wow this is great. I'm new to your channel. I was happy and surprised to see this as I'm building a coop now too. Carolina Coops has some amazing builds. They have a channel here and I'm trying to build something based on their designs. I've kept chickens for a while now but want to finally have a nice coop for them.
Thanks! I'm brand new to owning chickens so it's all a learning experience for me!
@@MWAWoodworks Oh you're going to love it. Chickens are wonderful. They are smarter than most people realize. They are friendly if raised from chicks and have better recall than most dogs. I have videos of my chickens on my channel as well as my slow coop build that's coming along. BTW, maybe the cartoon character was Spongebob? That's what the coop kinda looked like to me from the front.
Great chicken coop 👍
Nice and beautiful job!
Thank you! Cheers!
Very nice
Awesome video! Do you have a cut list (how many pieces, with the measurements of each)?
I copied the design and made my own measurements.... Realistically building things like this doesn't require the cabinet or furniture making mentality.... 1/16" or even an 1/8" off is something that would get lost in the soup or paint, liquid trim etc..... But trust me those finish guys, furniture, cabinet people have a passion for measuring to the 32nd and 64th.... But for the typical weekend warrior handyman that is really a waste of time. It's an outdoor chicken coop....
@@trigjones ❤ huh❤❤
Thank you very much.that was an excellent video for me. I actually have an old aluminum flat bed snowmobile trailer.
It is 8 foot by 16 foot. I'm looking to make a beautiful coup That I can move around the yard on a ball hitch to Move with my a TV.
the cartoon charecter is from the Dire Straights Money for Nothin' video!
Can u do the measurements for the material!!!! I feel like a thousand ppl have asked this!
Nice video
Looks amazing. Great job man. Been looking to buy your plans. Every time I click on it it takes me to your website bit can't find the chicken coop. Please help and thanks.
Very nice build
Thanks!
That build is more complicated and expensive than half of the worlds housing or more :D
My wife has been haggling me about one of these for awhile. Now I have no excuse. Thanks. Haha.
Great job on this! It kinda looks like that character in the "Money for Nothing" video.
Great job!!!!! Could you please make link for windows, please?
Great video and build. About how many sticks did you use to build that cooo
How tall and wide is the actual enclosed coop?
I like the size of this coop. Do you have a materials list available?
Looks great! I would DEF put some insulation inside of that roof though!
Love this! What are the dimensions?
I wish people would do experiments on chicken, and the quality of the meat if you give them extra warmth and coziness - with refreshing elevator /hold music. And massages .
What type of screws / length and washer did you use to attach the hardware cloth to the run? Thanks
great build! how tall is the droppings board and the roost bars?
Look up the vacuum cleaner from the brave little toaster. That was my first thought when I saw it. It looks like him with his teeth showing. Hope this helps. Nice coop too.
Really enjoyed this and it turned out SO nice!!! I like your idea of the metal roof. Do you need to apply silicon or anything where the screws go through the metal roof to keep it from leaking? Thanks for making this video. I'm sure you have the best looking chicken coop around!
The screws have a rubber washer on them that seals them up 👍
@@MWAWoodworks Thanks so much for answering my question about the screws. BTW, I got your plans for the router coping sleds a while back and made one. It turned out great and your plans were excellent!
Are your plans available for print? for the size of your coop?
I purchased the plans for third coast but I think the size of your may be more suitable for my needs.
Thanks!
Same here. I only want 6 birds
Could the cartoon character you were thinking the coop looked like possibly be the Air Conditioner Unit from the Brave Little Toaster? Do you have the plans for this coop available? Also rough cost?
How do I get the plans and materials list? You inspired me to make this
Could you share the overall dimension of this coop compared to Third Coast? Visually you can see how you altered the smaller coop area, but just curious how much you took off the width and length. I think that would be super helpful for many of us. Appreciate the video!
Around how much did this cost you in total to build?
Do you have plans available for the chicken coop build? I didn’t find them at your web site.
Are there plans available for the coop project? I didn’t see them. Thanks.
Hi Matt, what are the interior wall heights of the coop?
the chicken coop is so beautiful, saldly I couldn´t download the plans. thaks for sharing
There are no plans, sorry!
@@MWAWoodworks AH ok jejeje great work great chickens
Thank you so much for making this video.
Do you have plans for the adjustments you made for your coop? I will have 7 babies come July and will need to start gathering supplies. I do have plans for Chris’ coop, but I love to make it smaller before Chicken math decide to come and play in my head, lol!
Nope, no plans.
Haha, we're twins! I too have 7 coming in July. I ordered mine from cackle hatchery.
In terms of plans, I'd just start measuring out an area and draw out some plans on your iPad and keep adjusting til it makes sense. For me, I'm actually going to start with the nesting boxes and build the coop to house four of them (even though 2 nesting boxes would do just fine for 7 birds).
The Brave Little Toaster??
Very nice looking coop & thanks for the step by step video. I like the windows, but how do you open them? Do you have to enter the coop to do this or can you open them from the outside? Lastly, do you have a link where I can find some similar?
If Amazon is still sold out check eBay, that is where I found mine.
Hey brother, I’m watching this on the TV in bed with my wife rn, and I just can’t live with myself if I don’t help you out remembering the cartoon character you’re thinking about in the video when adding the windows.
Looks like the Brave Little Toaster to me, but might be the vacuum too 🤔 you’re welcome 😂 I take payment in the form of eggs 🥚
Do you have downloadable plans for this coop?
Thats a nice Milwaukee Hand Cannon
It is. So glad I made the investment
How do you modify the plans from the original coop your friend built to this size?
So are there supposed to be plans or something to follow? Curious to know how long to cut the 2x4s, etc.
I love the adjustments you've made from the original plans. I as well have only 6 chicks. I want to build this coop but am worried it won't fit in the area planned. It's about 10' x 15'. Would your design fit in that space? Also, are your plans available for purchase? I love your work. Keep sharing your talent.
No plans, but the coop plus the run is 6 ft wide and 14 ft long
Great video! So many people are interested in raising backyard chickens after that surge in egg prices, I know your sales would be huge if you sold plans for this coop! I’d be first in line to purchase it! Thank you for the video, I’m going to attempt to build it but I’d feel more confident if I had the plans to refer to if I run into trouble. 😊
My research has been leading me to 15-18° slope on the roof if you get snow. Steeper the better.
We don't really ever get snow where Im at. Actually snow may act as a nice insulator in the winter 🤔
Is it bender on futurama? And badass build
Remind you of the tower in the little engine that could?
What size windows did you use? 18x23 or 18x27 or something else?
Where Do you find the little windows or did you build them yourself too?
Nice..
Where can I find the plans..
