    I've just replaced the clockspring unit which includes the turn signal stalks etc on it.
    Now when i turn on the ignition the airbag light is on, fault code pointed to open circuit on airbag circuit one, which is the steering wheel area on my car.
    Sometimes the airbag light goes off for a day or two but usually comes back on.
    Would it be worth taking clockspring off again and reconnecting connectors a few times on the airbag etc?

    I had these faults on a 2002 ford escape. Unhooked battery to be safe, opened the connectors on booth seats, used t-pin to tighten the metal connectors, sprayed with de-oxit, then applied the ford dielectric grease and reconnected. Been two plus years and working well- no faults.

    The "airbag readiness" light just came on in my '11 F-150 yesterday. The light stays on steady except for about 3 seconds after starting the truck. From what I've seen about the previous gen F-150s, a continuous light would indicate that the RCM is shot. Is this also the case for the 12th gen trucks?

    Great video. I haven't seen a lot of good information on the Internet for this sort of thing probably due to reasons you mentioned. I have a 2003 Taurus that presented with code 12 a while back, but the voltage and fuses to the RCM check out. I have often wondered if the RCM simply failed. Due to being an older vehicle I haven't bothered with it any further, and don't plan on holding onto the vehicle much longer. Have you seen many RCMs of that vintage that failed?

    Hi buddy! Real good vids keep them coming, i have a question for you, I’m a technician with a plenty of experience in the field, i have done several pre tensioners and air bags as well but mostly in Japanese cars! All my life i’ve been a FORD hater hahaha but believe it or not the more i hate them the more they started to come to me hahaha so now i love them to death hahaha i own a 2014 fusion and i bought a 2013 focus ST Hail ECOBEAST hahaha anyway this last vehicle only has 30k miles on it but, today i’ve notice my air bag light came on and it happen to be a left air bag curtain B0021-13 plus i also noted the my driver door the keyless unlock/lock device doesn’t work either but the rest of them do!! I went on my computer and there is a recall for the door handle but not for the airbag curtain! I’m taking the car to the dealer cause is free and i don’t have to waste my time doing it while i have customers waiting for their cars to be fixed Lol , The thing is: you as a FORD ( inside man ) tech have done this curtains before? Cause i haven’t done any yet!! Are they really hard to do?? I know you have to tear the roof down which i don’t want to :(

    What does ford recommend (when under warranty) when you have a poor pin fit issue on an Air bag system....Do they recommend any wire repair, or the whole harness? Personally, Ive never recommended a wire or connector repair on any air bag system.
    now that you are out of a dealership, what do you recommend to the customer?

    • @FordTechMakuloco
      @FordTechMakuloco  Před 8 lety

      +Kurt Kennedy They have revised pre tensioners for this vehicle and updated connectors both sides for other vehicles like the early Escapes. I do what Ford recommends you can never be too careful with airbags. Although on the focus with the same issue in the drivers airbag they recommend the same procedure here clean the contacts and apply the XG-12.

    Hi experts. Have you ever stumbled into thing where airbag light would be on without any fault codes? I'm in europe, but I was about to buy mk4 Mondeo, but in test drive I noticed airbag light staying on. I looked at codes and there was plenty, which I wasn't afraid as I though car had ran out battery or something, but didn't find any safety codes and all cleared off. But light stayed on, no information display alerts or anything like that. MOT of the car was coming in few months so without knowing possible reason I stopped buying car there. Just bothers if it could've been something trivial I happened to miss. I bsolutely would've bought that car, but thought fault could cost easily like 1000euros if it would happen to be some special wiring fault or module fault.

    Hey..i have a question nothing related to airbags though. I have a 2009 F150 4.6L and the degas bottle only has a hose connected to the top of it. Is that normal? I thought it was supposed to have 2. The bottle is like molded into the air filter housing and wont come off. Anyways it has all this brown sandy looking mud in there. What should i do? Also i took the blend door actuator out and replaced it but the screw holes wont line back up, it did fix my no heat problem but i just havent been able to screw it back down.

    • @FordTechMakuloco
      @FordTechMakuloco  Před 8 lety

      +jamesfreud1 That is because you have a coolant expansion tank not a degas bottle so it is simple an overflow tank. Any overflow tank like this is much easier to clean out with high pressure hose than a degas bottle. It is best to use a cooling system cleaner to break it up then remove the bottle and air filter assy and flush it with a high pressure garden hose upside down.

    I went on CZcams to try to determine what air bag blinking light error code exist for my 1992 ford Taurus. Based on the blinks with a pause in between its a 5-1. The video says that airbag diagnostic monitor's fuse is blown. Can this be repaired by just replacing the fuses in the monitor? What should I know before I take it back to pep boys. They just repaired my car and this problem did not exist prior to them working on the car. If it had I would have asked them to repair it cause I know nothing about cars. I noticed the issue when I picked the car up before I left their lot. They had no mechanics on hand to look at it so they gave me an appointment for Monday (tomorrow).

    @TheShadowrider81 Před 2 lety +2

    idk what u were talking about that not being the correct fix. of course it is. cleaning the connector IS the fix because its what caused the code in the 1st place. and i guarantee its atmosphere, not arcing, that causes the connection to gain resistance. cigarette smoke, humidity, salty ocean air. they all cause electrical connections to go bad. it was fords stupid engineers that set such a ridiculously low margin on those circuits that has caused all these issues in the 1st place. the circuit is good, just ever so slightly weaker connection. still well good enough to carry an impulse to activate the device. i would clean the connectors with maf cleaner and after it dried thoroughly reconnect with dielectric grease and it would last the rest of the vehicles life.

    replacing the tensioner is not the solution ether, the issue is the connectors them selfs. zip tie them shut and it should solve the problem if the resistance is high. I find that they will close a little further past the clip that locks the connector. you don't show what you are doing in the video when you grab the connector but i can imagine you are grabbing the yellow connector under the seat and squeezing it together?

      +Davonn McBroom You can diagnose it with many scan tools out there but not the cheap OBD 2 ones made to just talk to the pcm.

    Why not just clean the connectors? Why do you recommend replacing the tensioner? Makes no sense to me. Furthermore, tightening the connectors with zip-ties would be more permanent.
