- In this video we Diagnose and fix an Airbag Fault.
The car came from another workshop that had already changed a sensor, but that didn't fix the problem!

As a mechanic for 20 years, Thank you for making these videos.
Thanks. I love doing it because of comments like these👍
As a CZcams viewer for 15 years, thank you for posting comments like these. 😁
Another genius diagnostic journey led by Professor Dan, diagnostic PHD.......! These videos are pure educational entertainment at its highest level.... I have watched so many different car repair videos but no other even comes close to those produced by Dan. And the humour is an added bonus. Even if car repair isn't your thing, you cant help but enjoy this level of discovery. Thank you Dan..!
Wow thanks for the awsome message 😁
Solid and proven techniques once again. I like the way you consistently prove everything before moving on. That wire fault diagnosis tool is a handy bit of kit 👍🏼
Can be a very handy tool in some cases!
8 years in the automotive trade love watching your videos to improve my technical understanding thank you keep up the good work :)
Thank you!
Dans the man. We use that locating tool in telephone line fault diagnosis. And yes I have used it on a few cars as well. Thought I was smart but turns out there was already someone ahead of me.
🤣🤣
Superb execution by master Dan , thank you for keep educating
Thank you as always !
Wiring seems to scare so many people, including master technicians. You do a great job of explaining the process of fault finding, I am sure you are giving these people a lot more confidence in their ability to fix electrical problems.
Won't be a master tech if one is afraid of a wire. Duh!
@@maxdm1583 I have found guys with their tickets, paid full journeyman rate. And still couldn’t figure out a basic wiring diagram. So don’t f#$&n. Duh! Me pal !!!
@@maxdm1583 You can be a master technician and not know how to read a wiring diagram. I learned how to read wiring diagrams during testing to BECOME a master tech. It's a joke to be a master tech anyway, unless the shop has an incentive for being one
I certainly wish so👏
You make these videos so easy to follow, even I can understand how you do it, Dan. Thanks once again you always amaze me.
Thanks David
When another repair shop sends their hard-to-solve case to Dan, it proves again Dan's diagnosis skill is at God's level. Another excellent work 💯
another "workshop"? Something like that is not a workshop for me if it doesn't find this quite simple error and then leaves behind such traces and missing screws. That's what my cars from the specialist workshops looked like, since then I've been doing everything myself again.
I'm buddies with another automotive electrician/diagnostician. He says the amount of guys that don't know the functions of a meter beside "V" is staggering. I myself find that many technicians don't know when to STOP using the meter, it also has limitations. I guarantee you this "simple error" would stump all the guys at my shop, but they can run circles around me doing heavy-line. Not digging at them, there is simply a specialty for every subject of a car.
The life of Brian...God's level?
@@anthonyxuereb792 Brian, go and clean your crusties!
@@bryankirk3567 Yes Brian, shall do, they could well do with a clean.
It's always a pleasure to follow you step by step to solve the issues.
Thanks for Diagnosing it Together!
Great one as usual.
It amaze me how quickly the other shop gave up especially since they had a really fat clue of where and what is wrong after switching the left and right sensors and noticed that the fault code stayed on the left.
Seems like they rather pay you what ever you charge for that kind of diagnosis then spending thier time on it.
Keep up the good work, you rock 👑👑👑
time is money for shops and most likely the other garage felt it money well spent to send to expert, leaving them to get on with other work
@@eggy1962 For me it would not be about the time, but about the honor. If you don't find such a simple mistake, you can go home. But obviously they couldn't fasten all the screws properly again - there probably wasn't enough time, right?
Judging by the missing clips and nuts maybe they are the oil change and brake pad replacement kind of shop
Sometimes you are on a dead end and you need new insights
Wonderful diagnostics. Great video as always. Post more frequently.
I'll try👍
Good job Dan! I've been fixing all my cars since 1989 but there are still some things to learn from your videos👍
Brilliant Dan, love how you methodically go about your fault finding
Thanks!
Diagnosedan makes me browse online for tools again!
In 20 years of diagnosing the wildest problems, I never heard of such a wire interrupt checker. And yes, I have been taking apart wiring looms to find a broken wire.
Thanks for showing this including how to successfully use it! I'm gonna get me one! This will come in handy in the next 20 or so years in my carreer!
Dan the Man Diagnosed it again 👍
Great job 👏
The repair is above and beyond an authorised repair 👌
Thank you

Thanks for watching
Hi Dan! Nice episode, new devices for detecting broken wires!!! Good health and as many videos with car problems as possible.
I'll do my best!
Yes the circuit tracer! I tried a very cheap one and it has worked very well on breaks that are a short distance away from the connector you’re probing from! Very cool to see you using a cost effective tool like that when I’m used to seeing big elaborate scanners, scopes and computers. Good video again Dan!
I'm not a mechanic but I have learned so much from your videos. I do work on my own car very often you have shown me some cool tools to just have around my house.
Great example of finding broken wires thanks Dan! Always nice to see new videos, and bloopers 😀
🤣🤣👍
Good job Dan
Great video Dan
Simply brilliant work as usual Dan thanks xxx
As Simone in the computer industry, i can confirm just how useful those cable tracers can be. Thanks for the video and the car owner got great, prompt service from you.
Thank you the garage was going to charge me 400 euro, I wiggled the yellow thingy and presto everything is back to normal.
Keep up the good work and if you are ever in Bruges give me a sign drinks are on me 😊
Another great job Dan.
Love the bloopers... DD you're a good sport ! and a great technician .... bless your heart for wanting to make a professional grade video and pressing through till you get it !
It takes a little longer🤣🤣
Other shop is a "parts cannon", to no avail.
Dan gets right to the real problem. And fixes it. 👍👍
😁👍
Thanks Dan, As always, clear and precise instructions. 👍👍
My pleasure Mark
As a retired VW/Audi tech we couldn’t solder connectors or a splice, had to use a special crimp connector that emitted sealant when heated with a heat gun, was definitely waterproof.
Was going to post the same thing, those pink/red connectors that you heat up were used rather than solder at VW repair shops.
We put the crimps over after we soldered it.
Well done Dan brilliance as always!
Great Work! You Gave The Car The Love It Needed!
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️😂
Great find - I've ordered one of those generators, probably never use it but just had to have one!
It is always super useful to watch your videos. I always learn something new. Never heard of a wire tracker before, thank you
Now you know 😂
That was cool. I have heard of AC circuit trackers but not wire trackers for vehicle wiring harness. You did a great job of explaining how to find a wire break.
Thanks!
Dan did it again - top work, made it look easy 😊
Thanks!
Wow! What a lesson. Thanks for making these videos! Sooo much to learn from you.
There are so few real mechanics like yourself that its scary to take your car anywhere these days.
There are many fantastic techs out there you just need to find them!
Cannot wait! Playing right away! Greetings from Bulgaria, from an automotive engineer😊
Great to have you here Pavel
@@Diagnosedan Thank you, Dan!
Dam leave it to DiagnoseDan the car superhero to the rescue. Love all your video’s including bloopers, I learn so much. 👍🏽👍🏽
Yay lots of bloopers! Neat idea using the toner to trace out that faulty wire. So many wire faults were caused around this time (2006-2012) due to poor wire insulation formulation! Or it was a small hole or crack when the loom was assembled.
Dan!! It's a pleasure to watch your videos!! I really enjoy them.
Thats great to hear and makes me want to more!
Great video Dan. That tone generator is IT/telecommunication must have stuff. It also helped me alot finding broken wires in some other industry.
Yes it can be helpful for different applications
Love your videos, thank you. I was in the trade 20 years before I got out. I wish i saw your vids whilst i was still at the garage. Never seen or heard of touching the Batt terminals to discharge.
Its to drain the capcitors
Very good smart diagnosis & repair work bud...
As a mechanic for 46 years, Thank you for making these videos.😅
Wow that's a great comment coming from an experienced colleague like you! Thanks!
@@Diagnosedan never stop learning 😄
That was a very interesting area where the wire was corroded. Covered by the split loom it should have been well protected. Having the sound tool really helped. Good one Dan!
My guess it was there from the assembly on a jig by the loom maker, where it was cut as the sharp ends of the sleeve were put on. Passed the initial testing, and worked on the line, and worked till the vehicle was driven in water, which leaked and was held in by the loom there, and then the wire, combined with the voltage on the sensor, caused it to slowly corrode away. Best trip for doing those kind of joins is to use adhesive lined heat shrink over the solder join, and shrink it down to bond the hot melt adhesive to the wire, making sure to lightly sand the insulation at the area to get clean fresh non damaged plastic insulation, making for the most waterproof join possible to the sleeve and insulation. Liquid electric tape is also good, cover with that, then 3M insulation tape over, tightly wrapped, then again liquid electrical tape over that. Works well on boats to keep stuff in good shape.
Maybe the Crusties were trying to hide from us😂
Bonus bloopers are the best. Always interesting, Dan is the man.
Thanks for Diagnosing it Together 😂
As always.....a very useful and excellent video. Thank you Dan. My respect....!!!
Thank you so very much 👍👍👍👍
Thank you. Always love watching your videos cos there will be something to learn
That wire tracker is definitely handy
It is and its cheap
Perfect diagnosis plan. The air bag sensor part was not needed so it seems fair that the customer doesn't get charged for that. I'd also hope that Dan gets to evacuate, replace the A/C condenser and recharge as a tip for getting the real problem fixed. This car likely had a collision repair and that condenser is on the estimate but not on the car ! The wire got pinched and the green plague took over. Great review....I love those sound generators....they do come in handy in many cases.
I am afraid the not needed crash sensor will not be omitted from the bill. But it shows how important it is to choose your repair shop with caution. In my company we do offer no cure no pay for some easy jobs. I regard the "lost" time as a good training exercise that the company and not the customer should pay for.
Condenser looks like it is just old, fins rotted off from road salt and grime that eats the thin aluminium away.
Thanks for your comment!
You know someone it very good at what he does when he is able to make it look easy. Thanks for this video. Cheers
😁👍
DAN, as always AWESOME approach and info u share.
My pleasure Sir👍
Hey Dan, still enjoy your videos. Got rid of my 750li BMW phew. Now i have a Toyota Camry, not sure if you have diagnosed Toyota. Just wanted to say, that my AC wasn't working. The interesting thing was the flow sensor attached to the compressor was only reading 3.5volts when scanned. Needs 5volts to work, clutch wasn't coming on. Purchased a new flow sensor, removed old one and there was much corrosion under the sensor perhaps causing magnet to fail or lowering electric volts? Voila my AC is working great again. And because i listen to Diagnose Dan, diagnose John fixed it again. Hope this tip helps you one day like, you help all of us!
Great find! Keep up the good work 👌
Thanks again Dan!
My pleasure
Well Done Dan👍😉😉👌. I am impressed with that Green Gadget.

Another very well-presented video and a bit of humour thrown in. I think that some workshops lack basic training in simple troubleshooting and the failures of some workshops in this area contribute to negative comments about the trade.
