    Great detail in this video, I have one question from my understanding some of the diff flange have special bolt when mounting to drive shaft to counter balance the flange are you aware of this? What is your method for keeping track

    So nice to have the special tool to open it finally. I broke my diff by trying to fabricate a custom tool to open it. By the way isnt it necessary to check for backlash as new bearings and pressure collar have been installed??

    • @RacingDiffs
      @RacingDiffs  Před 3 lety +4

      Not necessarily as pressure collar pushes viscous coupler over cup spring shim so it stays in original position. Bearings are in tolerance 0.001mm so they doesn't affect backlash. Thank you for asking this question. Maybe we should have mentioned it in the video.

    Hello, thanks for the informative video, I watched it carefully. I’m planing to rebuild my LSD, it’s acting as an open diff now (used…). However, before purchasing your kit I have some questions: based on your video we’re forced to change the bearings (you cut them to remove…), so in which case people would just buy the clutch discs only ? Thank you

    • @RacingDiffs
      @RacingDiffs  Před 9 měsíci +1

      Guys are getting clutches only when their bearing are like new. In this video, we showed the procedure of the complete overhaul. If your bearings are in excellent condition, no need to change them. You can still open the carrier unit without removing the bearing.

    • @RacingDiffs
      @RacingDiffs  Před 2 lety +1

      Thank you, much appreciated. The preload is slightly less for 330d as it has ball bearings on a sides. So go for 0.8-1.0.

    AWSOME! i am a E92M3 owner, and i would like to change final drive ratio from 3.15 to 3.62. i know E63M6 AND e60m5 has a 3.62 diff. So my question is does E63M6 or E60M5 diff directly fit on my E92m3? i mean plug and play. Real thx mate!

    • @RacingDiffs
      @RacingDiffs  Před 2 lety

      Gear ratio fits, but nit the whole diff. You would have to swap gear set. E46 m3 has the same gears too. You may also find this video rather interesting.

    Hi there, I have a similar issue with my 70k km E92 M3, in that it has play in the drive train, I think it may be attributed to play in the diff. I'm just curious, is would there be any additional whine or noise from the diff with the shims in place that remove the play?

    Thanks for the video buy $600 euros? that's wild expensive. Someone post up the part number for the replacement clutches and I bet you can get everything you need for less than $150 USD. The roller bearings can be replaced with an in-stock Timken part from NAPA auto for $10. The seals are also cheap. Find a cheaper way to source the clutch packs and it will be an actual real diy option.

    • @hansbrix2495
      @hansbrix2495 Před 3 lety +3

      Dude, those clutch packs are custom made, and they are better than stock. The stock clutch pack isn’t available separately. The PINION bearings are not generic items either. I suppose you can use tinker CARRIER bearings, but the ones these guys sell are the right precision tolerance (that is a real thing). You really need to do more research before you make such a comment.

    • @brendenbanks9293
      @brendenbanks9293 Před 3 lety

      @@hansbrix2495 I guess you have 0 knowledge of how much these things should cost. Timken is not generic. Look them up. They are likely a better bearing that what bmw used lol. They sell clutch packs for other cars for 100eur. $600 euros for the complete kit is ridiculously overpriced.

    • @hansbrix2495
      @hansbrix2495 Před 3 lety +4

      @@brendenbanks9293 I have the kit already from them. It’s a good deal. You’re a real clown if you think you can get just the larger double row ball bearing pinion for under 100 Euro. I’m holding it in my hand now. It’s made in Germany. I’ve done 3 different differential rebuilds before, I will be doing the GKN v2 next. These guys are awesome, it’s a shame you have to shitpost.

    • @DaveMsport
      @DaveMsport Před 2 lety

      @@brendenbanks9293 yes, you can get crap clutch plate kits for older bmws and other cars for less than $100 but they're rubbish and they don't last long but more importantly, the clutch pack for these gkn lsds is specific. Same goes for bearings, the larger double row ball bearing is quite expensive. Only seal you can get easily is the pinion seal too as that's a generic oil seal. The output shaft seals for BMW diffs are oem only.
      Sure, it's quite a bit of money and might be possible to buy some of the bearings and seals separately to save a little bit of money but being able to get everything you need that's good quality, the racing diffs kits are brilliant.
