Cover the region of northeast India as well. Kamarupa kingdom etc.
True...Varman Kingdom or Kamrupa Kingdom is highly underrated even after having a large boundary covering northeast , bangladesh n having great political relations with other ancient kings
@@PHOENIX-ff5fl Can you elaborate on the political relations? I just recently started learning about them so idk much
@@krishbohra5536 like king Bhaskarvarman( The last king of Varman) formed alliance with Harshavardhan to fight against Shashanka ( king of bengal region) . Even more than that Harsha and Bhaskarvarman were good friends. As Harshvardhan used to invite Bhaskarvarman as guest in major events.
@@krishbohra5536 he was a very powerful King during his period but after his death Varman Empire also deceased . Because Bhaskarvarman didn't married anyone and remain celibate for his life time. This is the reason why he is also known as Kumar Bhaskarvarman.

Thanks for mentioning the difference between Gandhara and Kandhara.
Maybe the territory of Gandhara spread across a large area, and modern-day Khandhara was also included in it. That's why the people of that region call it Khandhar.
@@tattvamashi city of kandhara and it's surrounding areas was called Arachosia or Haraxvaiti, named after the haravutai river
Is lt like mathura. Delhi was part of mathura in part?? Am I wrong? Mathura used to be very large.
*Kandahar
@@ayushkumarsingh3029 U r right brother... Persians cant pronounce S sound & it replaced with H sound. So the river originally named Saraswati became Haraoti, Sayaru became Harayu ( modern name Hari River gave the city its name Herat), Sindhu became Hindu & so on.
1. The interchange of G K is common, eg Kankan in Sanskrit becomes Kangan in Hindi. Kandhar coming from Gandhar is very highly likely.
2. At some point in history present day Kandhar must be part of Gandhar region. Could have been the capital even, so locals have hung on to the name, in some form. At a later point Gandhar might have shrunk to only Peshawar and Rawalpindi region.
3. Since Buddhism was more popular in the NorthWestern region ( present day Afghanistan Pakistan) we see the mention of Gandhar in the Buddhist texts. The Jain were not active there that explains the absence of Gandhar in their texts.
Finally a good factual channel on indian history.
It was this Ghandhara region from where Bhudhism spread to china and central Asia. In fact Bhudhist texts of Ghandhari prakrit were translated directly into Chinese and Tibetan Languages instead of from Pali or Sanskrit. Infact Pali was the language of eastern Ghandhara as well. It was much closer in grammar, structure and phonetics to Ghandhari prakrit. It was probably the language of Takkashila city and its surrounding areas spreading upto Kashmir. Modern northern Punjabi dialects like pothowari, hindko and Pahari are heavily influenced by Pali Prakrit
This is very interesting! As I just started learning Sanskrit and Hindi, I am curious: was Gandhari (or Prakit) related to Sanskrit?
Yes.... actually Magadhi Prakrit or Eastern Prakrit which was used for writing texts of Buddhism is. Majority of languages except Dravidian languages are descendants from Magadhi Prakrit. Later there were many forms of Prakrit like shaursheni Prakrit or western Prakrit and many more. You can study history of Bihar and Bengal for more understanding. @PierCollier
@@PierCollier Gandhari and all Prakrits are considered Middle Indo-Aryan languages, while Sanskrit is an Old Indo-Aryan language. This means that Sanskrit is older. However it is disputed whether Vedic Sanskrit is a direct ancestor of Middle Indo-Aryan languages, or was it some sister language of Sanskrit.
@yashagrawal88 😂😂😂
Thanks for this information 👏👏🙏
Finally someone called out this misinformation of kandhar being ancient gandhar
1. The interchange of G K is common, eg Kankan in Sanskrit becomes Kangan in Hindi. Kandahar coming from Gandahar is very highly likely.
2. At some point in history present day Kandahar must be part of Gandahar region. Could have been the capital even, so locals have still preserved the name. Later kingdoms having lost ground shrunk to present day Rawalpindi-Peshawar region.
3. Buddhism was a dominant religion in the region of present day Afghanistan and northern Pakistan. That explains the mention of Gandhara in their texts but since Jainism was not active in the region it’s missing from Jain texts.
the way you explain is amazing. You'll go far.

Ironically I feel that the original independent iron age kingdom of Gandhara is heavily underrated. The Gandhara Grave Culture is very interesting.

You forgot to mention important point in video that during Buddha's lifetime or afterwards this area was conquered by Persians and it was very rich territory of their empire where they used to get high amount of taxes
Keep up the good work my friend.
When I was in Peshawar Museum in 1984 I was struck by the similarity of the faces of the Buddha on Gandharan statues with those of Alexander the Great in Greek statuary. Has any investigation been done on the possible influence of Graeco-Bactrian art on subsequent images of the Buddha?
There's certainly some influence, I would do a video on the Gandharan art soon. Thanks for the recommendation.

Kandahar might not be the same as gandhar, but is the term Kandahar derived from gandhar itself?

If we have two Kosalas (one in Avadh and other one in Chattisgarh) it wont be outrageous to suggest that there could be two Gandharas. One in Peshawar-Rawalpindi and the other one in Kandahar.
But the evidence does not support this.
Secondly the whole region Awadh - Baghelkhand - Chhattisgarh was Kosala.
@@yashagrawal88 if I am not wrong, Baghelkhand is Nishada kingdom (of Nala, h/o Damayanti). But there are other examples of different areas with same name _ like Kamboja in Afghanistan and Kamboja in Kyrghyzsthan, Bahlika in Punjab and Bahlika in Balkh, Kuru in Hastinapura and Uttara Kuru (north of Himalaya).
@@Vath098
You are right to some extent, and the reason for this dual naming is that regions were either defined by their location, or sometimes named after the tribe that inhabited.
But what you said for Kosala doesn't seem to be valid. The region South of Yamuna got influenced by Kosala after the Janapada period. It was probably called as Chedi, though I think historians are not sure about this.

@@Rakshita442 Those who call themselves sanatani or Hindu are Mahayana Bauddh only. If you try to trace Evidence of Shiva or Vishnu before 8th century, you will find they were Avlokiteshwar Buddha. Sanskrit itself has evolved from Pali Pakut after 1st century and Vedas can not be written without Sanskrit.
After betrayal to Indian kings by Raja Chach in Sindh, foreigners like Chach and Dahar entered in Buddhism cunningly and started creating caste biases. During Islamic period they compiled religious grantha and enforced to Indian through Muslim rulers. Read through traveller notes, inscriptions and you will know the truth. If you keep your eyes and mind shut, tomorrow someone will make you believe that Vedas were written originally in English language million of years ago and westerners learned everything from these.

@@QsourelConvil In 4th century the script found in Jambudweep or India were Pali and Kharoshti. Sanskrit was getting developed in Universities like Nalanda, Vikramshila, Takshashila. Please share any evidence of any inscription of Purana written in Pali or Kharoshti. If they are available only in Sanskrit then that can only be written only after Classical sanskrit is fully developed. Please read Bhavishyapurana. It mentions the presence of Queen Victoria, British rule and Muslims. That means it is written after British were known to the writer right?
