    Can you do a video on which sealants to use on certain fittings? Teflon tape versus pipe dope?

    • @Foothillpump
      @Foothillpump Před měsícem

      Use Teflon on PVC with the exception of the drop pipe. Pipe dope on PVC contains petroleum which can cause leaks later. You can use pipe dope or Teflon on metal fittings.

    Very interesting video. Do you have a video on sealants to use for assembly

    How do you lose a part on a work bench?, and the motor runs under water and will remain cool, the epoxy around the winding does not compromise the cooling.

    How is an electric motor water cooled by the well? Why doesn't it short out with the ground, or water?

    Got my new pump in the mail today, isn’t glycol poisonous? Should I run the pump a while before I drink any water?

      Shane, this video shows the disassembly of the motor, which is completely sealed from the pump end/water.

      @@RCworstwater I know I'm late to the party but even though the motor is below the pump you really don't want nasties in the water. I'm guessing whatever antifreeze is used during manufacturing is nontoxic. I knew submersible pump motors were water cooled but I assumed cooling was by heat transfer from the outer motor housing into the surrounding water, not actually having water circulating within the motor. Given sand/fine sediment, at least in our well, allowing water into the motor seems pretty risky to me, but this is not my day job.

    Can you replace the capacitors on a two wire pump

    • @RCworstwater
      @RCworstwater  Před 3 lety

      No, the motor will have to be replaced.

      @@RCworstwater Thanks for the reply! Was very happy 😅 to pull the pump and discover the problem was that the poly pipe had came off the nipple. Not a good thing to happen either. Luckily I had a safety line to the pump. But at least it was a free fix. Added an extra hose clamp and made sure they were very tight this time

    Utilitech, RedJacket, A.Y. McDonald, etc. all use that thrust bearing in my teardowns. It's just been adopted over time. Nothing propriety about it.

      Does anyone know where you can buy the thrust bearing? My carbon bearing cracked into several pieces. Great video BTW
