To me she sounded more stoned than mortified, moaning unintelligibly about nothing. You are 100% right about the poor treatment, customers and employers acting as if the workers are expendable and disposable. They are in an extremely vulnerable position, and the delivery companies needs to put in place safeguards like recording methods, as many people here have suggested.

Agreed. I as a Dasher have always felt that we should be able to rate and report our customers (recipients). People like this women should be somehow prevented from using that platform.
I have had a customer lie on me when that caused what is called a contract violation that is removed from ones Dasher account after 100 dashes without another and/or the dasher can dispute the violation with an explanation and any pic(s). Doordash was quick to remove another person's complaint (lie) that I didn't deliver and I disputed that one and it was immediately removed unlike the first violation where I had notes up the wazoo about how I hand delivered the order to her grown son but still had to wait the 100 dashes before the violation was cleared from my account. It is so sad that we go out our way, wait for upwards of 20 min. in drive thru lines, deal with traffic, inclimate weather, use our own gas, have wear and tear on our vehicles and aren't compensated over and above a dollar or two hear and there and DD doesn't compensate for detention and doesn't enable Dasher to complain on the customers that make it extra hard and or lie like this woman -why he was fired is beyond me-so sad!
This is why it's IMPORTANT to speak up. That backlash & shame she experienced was all hers to have

You know my family took in people who came to work at the shipyards when I was little until they could get their own place and never charged anything but the only rules of the house were if you stole or lied you were gone. Every time I drop off the food I take a picture even when the customer ask for “hand it to me”, this kind of customers are suck.
They should just do what Walmart and Amazon does and take a picture.
And if the DoorDash driver is unable to take a picture, they should allow them to get a signature from the customer or the person that had received the food. They should give them an app on the Dasher's phone so the customer can sign and date it before he or she receives the food.

They fired her so fast because he not only put her on blast but he was recording it at her place of employment which means others will see this and her employer didn't want to risk the bad publicity at their place of business. I don't blame them.

Here it’s illegal to deliver to students during school days and parents and students still order and get us in trouble. The many times I reported this to DoorDash as a concerned parent and driver they refused to listen. Most of the kids were not even apart of the school and we’re trespassing.

I remembre once the Uber app gave me a code I had to give to the driver just to make sure the delivery was completed successfully, well that idea should stay. Not sure why people don’t want to receive their food and prefer it on the ground seems weird.
Yup and CCTV where you receive that, seen both party lying, I literally watch ring video where food delivery put down a package at front door and take pictures only taking it back after that.
They do. I had my food delivered to the wrong apartment once and the picture clearly showed it was in the wrong place because you could see the number above the door. The driver came back, got it, and brought it to me but he still forgot my drink. 😅

Often clients want the food left at the door or gate without seeing anyone, & delivery can't wait too long as they have other orders.
Really hope that their boss sees exactly how trustworthy their employee is .

What he was trying to do was trigger her with a swipe at the parents which wasn't right. That is how things turn to violence and people wonder why they get attacked and cry victim. I didn't did this to Doordasher but I did it to Amazon back in the day and I am afraid I may have gotten people fired. I just thought Amazon was taking the hit. If you wear a body cam and as you approach, you make the customer aware they are being recorded. Usually, it doesn't happen. But when it does, you can pull the video for doordash.
It's kind of a pain, but it upholds your integrity!
But why would you even need to let them know that you're recording them? You have every right to record.
Just have them give the drive the name and have that person sign for it.
