I currently live in Tucson, Arizona and I’m so over the 6 months of oppressive Summer. Looking at Omaha and Des Moines as possible destinations to relocate. How bad is crime in Omaha? It’s getting out of control in Tucson and housing prices are skyrocketing. I’m a web developer and work from home so finding work isn’t an issue for me. Just looking for a better city.

This is what my husband and I are looking for. We are both born and raised in Massachusetts. We have started our family and are looking to move to a place that is friendly, low key and great for families. Massachusetts cost of living is insane, so much traffic, the people are mean, the commute to work is awful. Omaha sounds glorious. Thank you for your videos!

Me and my wife are relocating out of Oregon this year, and we didn't choose Omaha. We decided to go with San Antonio Texas, basically due to the amount of things to do there, the amazing restaurant scene, The Nightlife, and housing that is surprisingly affordable for a big city. But to let you know Omaha was a close second. Maybe one day if we decide to we might just head up that way. But I do enjoy the videos.

Amazingly enough plans change. So we are going to be staying in Oregon a little bit longer, and I am looking to avoid Texas due to their power grid problems. So I am giving Omaha a little bit deeper look. It won't be anytime soon, but eventually we might be heading to Nebraska.

I ended up going to SC from Oregon.. now I am in FL. I had the right idea leaving Portland area but going to the south didn't end up working out and I even find FL is increasingly becoming like Mississippi even. Imagine? And in the city of Tampa. I thought this would be a mainstay but it looks like it might not be. So since my folks are not leaving Oregon to go back east
Me picking Omaha might have been the right answer all along so I can be in-between . I just didn't do it because now I see why FL was not 1st on my list when I tried 2 leave Oregon now.

The thing that bugs me about videos on why Omaha is such a bright place is it always ignores the fact that it’s a Twin City I see videos that feature the surrounding cities in Nebraska such as Bellevue Papillion, Ralston, Gretna, and how they are growing, but it never mentions Council Bluffs , Iowa, which is the twin city to Omaha. It is true that low unemployment rate that draws businesses to Omaha also draws on the population of Council Bluffs as a part of that workforce. enhancement Council Bluffs although it is an older poorer community than Omaha it is also compared to Omaha a less expensive community a population of about 62,000 has a median income of little bit less than Omaha at 57,000 but it does have a much lower average housing price at 190,000 versus Omaha 252,000 it is a higher unemployment rate but it is only marginally higher about 1.2% as of the last census much lower than the rest of the United States and the average commute time for somebody from Council Bluffs is equivalent to Omaha a little bit less averaging 18.6 as opposed to Omaha is 18.74. The good news is in Omaha. The traffic comes from West O east into the downtown business area, causing traffic jams and, headache of a commute heading to the rising Sun in the morning and the setting sun in the evening, where coming from Council Bluffs , you are going from east to west and the sun isn’t in your eyes both directions and there is a lot less traffic. it is true that Council Bluffs but the property taxes are lower and housing costs are 24.5 less expensive than Omaha, due to housing costs, and the lower taxes. It is true that Council bus has had issues with crime being a little higher than an average and poverty rates are a little bit higher, but if you’re not into a very conservative rural lifestyle, and you prefer something a little more progressive you have all the benefits of a city with lower costs across the river from all the amenities offered by Omaha, Nebraska. IlIn fact CB is actually closer to the zoo, the stadium for the college World Series and the downtown old market areas that draw tourists to Omaha than west Omaha. Especially for blue-collar workers and clerical employees that derive a lot of employment opportunities in Omaha from the tech businesses that have relocated their it is not a bad option overall but nobody ever mentions it as being part of what makes the Omaha metropolitan area bloom. It can be a better location for retirees since they
    don’t tax social security. 5:3

Is it possible you could do a video, not on the "city life". My wife and I have placed Nebraska on the Top 5 states we are considering for our new Home. We are rural folks who work in the City, we appreciate the money we earn, we do not want to live there. So is it possible you could provide a little insight on "Rural Life" ? Our current drive distance we both take (one way) is 60+ miles with 1.5hr-3hr drives (traffic). I myself spend 5 hours a days just sitting in traffic...no we don't live in L. For the rather plain plains geography, there is some distinct beauty to the area. Awesome wildlife, emerald green flora, rolling hills. I've seen countless bald eagles and other birds of prey, a badger, otter, deer, antelope, racoons, etc. all in the wild. Then there's the safari park and world-class zoo.
Some other places throughout the country have a sampling of the same. It's the whole picture with the only real drawback being the tax burden which is very significant. However, at least you can see where most of that money goes as compared to other places where the tax burden is heavy but services are horrible.
