Do you love creating art on location but often get overwhelmed with all the materials you need? In this video I share now to keep it simple with just 3 materials: charcoal, graphite and ink.
I demonstrate how I create a simple capture of some of the Fisherman's huts on the North East coast. I share my top tips for creating quick energetic expressive drawings on location.
I hope you enjoy it. I'd love to hear your comments.
Your drawings are so expressive Liz. Thank you for sharing and great co ordination with your lovely top and Lexi's.
Hi Leila thanks so much! I do love drawing in this way. Ha I didn’t even notice our top coordination. It was chilly up there so she often wears her fleece in the van!!
Thanks for sharing, I Realy enjoyed it.
You are very welcome. I am so glad it was useful.
Wonderful tips on supplies and how to layer them. Your sketches are beautiful and inspiring. Thank you.
Hi Melinda, You are very welcome -thank you for your comments. I'm glad that you found the video useful. I do like the freedom of working in black and white!
Love this
Thanks so much Sue I'm glad it was helpful.
What a wonderful video. Thank you for sharing. Gorgeous, satisfying collection of drawings you have made!
Hi Pamela thanks for your comments- I’m glad you enjoyed the video. I think drawing with simple materials is a nice route in to connecting with the subject. It’s surprising how quickly these expressive black and whites emerge too!
@@LizAckerley - I am excited to try mixing some of these media together.
I love your ramshackles.
Thank you very much Diane they are very captivating on a few different levels!
Wonderful ❣️
Many thanks!- I’m glad that you enjoyed it.
Thank you 🤗
You are very welcome.
Thank you Liz, as always for your generosity in sharing your process. I happen to be doing a short course in working in monochrome so your video was a happy coincidence. I really enjoy seeing how professional artists work.
You are very welcome. I’m glad that you enjoyed the video. And a great coincidence!
Another informative and enjoyable video Liz, thank you. Your ramshackle drawings are wonderful - that wall of them looks so inspiring! Between the Borders Art Fair and preparing your collage course you have been so busy so I appreciate you making this video and your plans for a series sound terrific.
Hi Jillayne thank you so much for your comments- I’m so glad you enjoyed the video and you are right- it’s quite busy at the moment. Hopefully I’ll be doing these top tips videos on a regular basis throughout the year.
Lovely textured drawing. I try to restrict myself to pencil because I like to keep work together in sketchbooks. Great video.
Thanks William- I do both- working on paper and in sketchbooks. As long as it’s fixed - charcoal works in sketchbooks too. The paper enables me to put them up in the studio whilst working on a body of work.
Beautiful, you’ve been a busy bee 🐝
Looking forward to the new play list you have planned ☺️
(Any news on the collage course @ all?)
Xx
Many thanks - yes needed to take advantage of the good weather. I’m not sure if you follow me on other social media but I shared something about the course just now. I’ve just been filming part 3 of 5 so I’m getting there but it’s a lot of work so takes time. Fingers crossed I’ll be releasing it next month. It’s my priority at the moment! x
Wonderful inspiring video as always, thank you Liz. I wanted to ask you about fixing the charcoal with hairspray, is it safe and archival to use for long term or does the drawing yellow with time ?
I'm so glad that you enjoyed it. No hairspray isn't archival and won't be any good for long term as it is likely to yellow.
@@LizAckerley Thanks Liz, I thought so
