To this day the Gary Grainger/Dennis Chambers hookup on John Scofields Loud Jazz and Blue Matter is STILL one of my favorite rhythm sections and CD's of all time. I've listen to a lot of music since 1988 but still point to that CD as its mind blowing, to me, that a lot of fusion fans never heard of it or Gary. While I love the tone of a Smith he sounded just as badass on a Stingray proving the sound is him, not so much his gear. Nice post...thank you!

Now that is one road-worn bass guitar, and it still sounds BOMB! And being played by one of the nicest cats you'd ever want to meet...

For my money Ken Smith basses set the bar. Love my BSR 6 string. It's the captain of my team which also includes Warrior, Roscoe, Yammy, Ibby, and Esp/Ltd stable mates...with a few Fenders, and a couple wildcat knockoffs thrown in for good measure. To paraphrase a once popular statement made during the era of peace and free love, "...once you go Smith, you'll never go back!"🎸😆

It's a wonderful instrument, and it makes me wonder what to do with some of my others that haven't been out of their cases in years.😕 Kinda hate to part with 'em though.
I think the audio is out if sync with video, it's late behind the video. It makes some comments here seem funny ;)

That very well used Ken Smith sounds great. To me it sounds distillate and I don't even know what distillate means haha!!!!!
