It’s the seventies Anything goes!!! and nobody cared and nobody shouted about it No social media thank god !
We just all did our own thing and respected each others differences
Glad you’ve discovered one of the last century’s greatest voices , frontman and band x

Freddie was music. His whole being. It's the reason he wrote and recorded music up to a few months before his death. He sang until he hadn't the strength to go on. He could barely walk and had to be propped up to sing songs that he knew he would never hear completed. He left as much vocal tracks as he could for the rest of the band to complete after his death. His final song "Mother Love" had Brian singing the last verse because Freddie sang until he couldn't, said he'd come back to finish the song but never did and passed away. There is no video of him singing, of course, but I recommend watching the Queen Official video with the lyrics. It will break your heart to hear just how beautiful Freddie's voice was even when he was at the end of his life. I had been waiting to see your reaction to this White Queen and am so glad you did it!

My favorite live performance by Queen. This performance was on Christmas Eve, 1975. The champagne glass was in his hand because he had just toasted the audience and wished them all a Merry Christmas. Live Aid was 1985, so 10 years later. Brian wrote this song about a girl in one of his classes that he had a crush on but never could get up the nerve to ask her out. The instrumental portion of this song gives me goosebumps every time. Oh that guitar!!! and Freddie filling it in with the piano. Fantastic performance, thank you for your reaction.

This is such a great performance by QUEEN, so glad you are reacting to it 😄. This is very early QUEEN, early 1970's and a full decade before LIVE AID! QUEEN wrote a lot of "fantasy" based songs back in their earlier days and the meanings a bit hard to get a handle on. I generally just sat back and enjoyed it ! 😊 Another must see performance with Freddie at the piano is, "You Take My Breath Away", from Hyde Park. The video quality is not terrific but the performance is well worth the watch. Your description of their instruments being in a marriage was so good!

Absolutely, the Hyde Park show was the first time I saw Queen as a teenager. I lived is West London at the time and, of course, it was free. I would say it's also worth checking out the studio version of You Take My Breath Away from A Day at the Races which is a work of art, as is Love of My Life from A Night at the Opera.

@@brittreacts I also was very fortunate to see Queen live three times in the 1970. This was the best band in the world at this time. Not only was Freddie completely untouchable at this stage of the band's development, but they were so tight together - especially live. Most bands would take the easy route and just play their normal hits, but Queen would always dig deeper and the performance was always spectacular.

Live Aid was in 1985. This performance was 10 years earlier.
White Queen (As It Began) is the third track from Queen’s second studio album, Queen II, and was recorded in August 1973 at Trident Studios, London. It was written by guitarist Brian May for his previous band “Smile” in 1968, several years before the band “Queen” would be created.
The song details the story of the speaker’s lost love, (The White Queen) for whom he continues to wait for in agony. This song and “The March Of The Black Queen” is said to have influenced frontman, Freddie Mercury’s decision to name the band “Queen”.
Queen II is called the White and Black album as one side is white where the tracks of "White Queen" where and the other side is black where the tracks of "The March of the Black Queen" are.

White Queen lyrics written by the lead guitarist Brian May in 1968 it’s was a popular live performances for the band in the 1970s, Brian mentions the song has a medieval theme, he had the inspiration to write the song about blind girl he took a liking to in his youth, this is evident in the lyrics about her sad dark smiling eyes/ so sad my eyes she cannot see, a great ballad and Freddie’s vocals are outstanding, and the band absolutely one of the best bands ever, they were all phenomenal musicians and songwriters, great reaction thanks 🙏

    • @imweakfordeaky
      @imweakfordeaky Před rokem +5

I've never seen a mention by Brian that the inspiration girl was blind... she was a fellow student at university.
The lyric reference "...she cannot see" I always took as that she was wrapped up in her own thoughts and therefore couldn't/ didn't notice her fervent admirer who was too shy to speak.

I believe this performance is from the concert at the Odeon Theatre in Hammersmith, in 1975. Live Aid was in 1981.
Yes, this is younger Freddie in his mercury-wings costume when he wore long hair, makeup, high-heals, and black nail polish on the fingers of his left hand (Brian wore white nail polish on the fingers of his left hand).
White Queen (As It Began) is the third track from Queen’s second studio album (also known as the Black and White album), Queen II, and was recorded in August 1973 at Trident Studios, London. It was written by guitarist Brian May for his previous band “Smile” in 1968, several years before the band “Queen” would be created.
The song details the story of the speaker’s lost love, (The White Queen) for whom he continues to wait for in agony. This song and “The March Of The Black Queen” is said to have influenced Freddie's decision to name the band “Queen”.
Some say that the two songs are said to be a part of the same story but I am not sure that I agree. The White Queen represents everything that’s good and pure about love, while the Black Queen represents the darker side of lust and forbidden desire. This song can either be the ending of “The March Of The Black Queen” or the beginning of the story.
FYI - The March of the Black Queen is said to be Freddie's rhapsodic march that is the precursor to a certain 6-minute lead single two albums later, 1975’s ambitious and surprisingly radio-friendly “Bohemian Rhapsody”- czcams.com/video/SoBMhx_ap_g/video.html.
It goes without saying that White Queen was from the white side of that album and The March of The Black Queen is from the black side of the album Queen II. Queen II is not a concept album but a collection of songs with a loose theme running throughout. The two sides of the original LP were labeled "Side White" and "Side Black" (instead of the conventional sides "A" and "B"), with corresponding photos of the band dressed in white or in black on either side of the record's label face.

Written by Brian inspired by a crush he had on a girl in his Biology class. So cute & adorable, right? Anyway, he talks of loving her from afar but lacked the courage to approach until it was too late! 🧝🏻‍♀️ Very Tolkien 🌿🍃 But alas, Brian commented that they did become friends later!! “So sad it ends .. as it began.”

There seem to be two camps of Queen fans: 1970s Prog/Glam Rock and 1980s Arena BIG sound. I love both because one would not have happened without the other. Queen went from complex compositions & layered vocals to a streamlined approach to their sound. When you hear either one, you know it is Queen. You may not know the song, or the style will surprise you, but the sound...unmistakable. COLD STONE CRAZY live at the Rainbow 1974- another Queen facet you have yet to see.

This song is from their second studio album Queen II, which has a kind of rock/medieval/renaissance feel throughout. The original vinyl release, instead of “side 1” and “side 2,” had “Side White” and “Side Black.” All the songs on Side Black were written by Freddie. Side White had Brian’s song “White Queen,” and Side Black had Freddie’s song “March of the Black Queen,” which is an epic song and in some ways a precursor to “Bohemian Rhapsody.” I definitely recommend checking out the Queen II album!

Queen's second album Queen II could be considered by some to be a concept album in that it plays very well on the turntable a whole side at a time. One thing unique about this album was instead of side 1 and 2, it has Side White and Side Black. Side White has 4 songs written by Brian beginning with Procession which is a well layered guitar only "solo" by Brian that goes into Father to Son which blends into White Queen both sung by Freddie. Someday One Day is sung by Brian, and Loser in the End is sun by drummer Roger with his very unique voice. It's a tribute to his mother.
Side Black is all written by and lead singing by Freddie except for a couple of lines by Brian an Roger. It has March of the Black Queen which shows Freddie's writing style for Bohemian Rhapsody had this come first. Doing a reaction to either album side would be difficult, but consider checking it out.
The last song of Side Black has a carnival sounding recording that is an introducing their third album, Sheer Heart Attack with its first song Brighton Rock. A long live version of that song has Brian playing a very long solo with very interesting guitar sounds.

It's cool that you say that Freddie means what he's singing because this was Brians song, the guitarrist. He continuously took to heart what his band wrote and made his own to sing so it always feel so genuine as if he was a spokesperson to the rest of his band.

Freddie loved Ballet and took classes for a time

Don't think he had any ballet lessons as such. He did perform with The Royal Ballet for charity in 1979 but, by his own admission, could not dance for toffee. He was a decent boxer as a young lad so that may have helped his movement.

Hello. I love the way you react. I recommend you listen to these queen songs written by Freddie: Killer queen, you take my breath away; 39 written by guitarist Brian May, and rock it (prime jive) written by drummer Roger Taylor. It will surprise you.

Part of your problem understanding the meaning of the song is that it is from Queen II which was a concept album. The White Queen was from Side White which were mostly Brian's songs. Then there was Side Black which were mostly Freddie's songs. Check out The Black Queen, which is considered to be a legitimate predecessor to Bohemian Rhapsody.

Nice! And for some more great rocking Queen from their early years, try Liar from the first album, Ogre Battle from Queen 2 and Brighton Rock from their third album, Killer Queen, which is also a famous tune. They made some of their best music in the mid 70s, well worth checking out. Enjoy! 🎵🎸🎤🎹🎶

Very different from Somebody to Love live in Montreal from 1981 that I watched you react to. Queen are just amazing. You feel every song. White Queen is very theatrical but also very powerful and the delivery of the sounds are incredible. Can I say without any agenda, I love your hair. Looking as beautiful as Queen sound. Thanks for the reaction keep doing Queen.

This is from their 2nd Album called Queen II (wonder how they picked that name?😊). While there were known some charting at 49 in the US it was before they blew up with the Album A Night at the Opera in late 75. Freddie was never confident in his piano playing and near the end of his life rarely played.

Welcome to early Queen!!!… incredible music, and Freddie sang like an angel meets the devil. None of that silly yelling he would do in his later short hair years. I personally appreciated his performance and stage persona much more back in the glam days!

This is the second time I've been on your channel. For the second time, I am convinced that you are not a very attentive listener.
You only perceive the work of the frontman, but not the band. You pause in inappropriate places to say something rather banal.
    Sadly.
