Where's the men's road race been waiting for months
UPLOAD THE MEN'S FULL RACE! ARE WE GOING TO WAIT FOR ANOTHER YEAR BEFORE YOU UPLOAD IT???
The moment when the Dutch riders didn't even come to the Austrian rider to congratulate her speaks for itself. Well deserved win Anna. Congratulations from Poland.
For me, the highlight of Tokyo 2020
I have waited the race in whole length soo Long time. At that morning, we, living in Austria, turned on TV and saw that an Austrian cyclist is the leader of the race. We couldn't beliebte it, but the unthinkable happened. We ware on sleep during the race because of time difference. But no TV channel have shown the füll race afterward even in Austria. Thank you for shering 😊😊
A historic moment in austrian sport history! Thank you so much for uploading it!
Sadly, it is a one-off
@@Quintendejong123 Nothing wrong with that - That way she will be remembered for ever
@@Quintendejong123 That makes it all the more special.
@@kenavr break wins are rare indeed
@@SchinniNobody What makes it even funnier is that Marlen Reusser (SUI) told the Netherland's women that Anna Kiesenhofer is still in the lead! The reply was: "Anna who?" 😍
From minute 9 to 30 Anna apears always alone behind all the group, in 30 seconds she made her move to the front, when the race really start she command the first attack, and the last 40 km she is completely alone on the top
Poetry on wheels ❤️
I'll never get tired of watching this race
Wearing a mask on the podium at the award ceremony is nonsense. this is re-education this is a step to the NWO
19:32 “sometimes it’s not the best rider that wins, sometimes it’s the smartest” - little did he know how true that turned out to be 😅
She is the best rider
Anna was the greatest. What a historic race in cycling. Austria are very proud.
I am only afraid this was a one-off, as it happened too often in the past. One Olympic title, but nothing even close to that before and after.
Anna won the austrian athele of the year award. Normally only skiers win this
Hasn't Christoph Strasser won it, he broke the world record for the longest ridden in 24 hours the magical barrier of 1000km plus he's just won the Transcontinental Race across Europe. He's also the past multiple winner of the Race Across America.
@@bitchoflivingblah he won it as well, i also think a tennis player won it at some point and a fencer as well
At 18:20 you can see Anna Kiesenhofer warming up physically and mentally behind the peloton the effort she is committed for, whilest the commentators discuss potential winners, far from what comes to be reality.
thanks for you notice!
Also at 14:20 and 16:00 - she’s behind the peloton the whole time, and she stated afterwards that she doesn’t enjoy riding in the peloton.
@@mx2000I wouldnt either - too many risks for clipping, accidental or otherwise. Strategy is essential, especially with such a long, twisty, climbing and descending, technical race! Go professor!
Then at 19:20 they discuss "It's the smartest cyclist who sometimes win".
EPIC PERFORMANCE is an understatement for Kiesenhofer's huge win. "How big is her heart ..." and many other moments of this gold medal - worthy coverage made this the best reporting of an Olympic cycling event ever.
4:25:23 she thought she was the Olympic champion until she knew she did not and her face at 4:26:54 is a clear evidence how disappointed she was!
Congratulations for Anna Kiesenhoffer for an amazing race from an Ecuadorian person

Best moment in the Olympics for me!!!

I've watched this like 4 times since 2021 when this happened and it's always as magical ✨Congratulations to Anna
Anna, dein Streben immer alles zu geben hat dich unsterblich gemacht. Gold in Tokio und 160 Kilometer Solo bei der la Vuelta nach Segovia. Danke! Du bist ein gigantisches Vorbild für uns. Mach weiter für uns. Freuen uns schon dich in Paris 2024 wiederzusehen! LG aus deiner Heimat
One of the best races ever, big respect!
Get out in front and stay there wins every time!
Actually, although there are definitely a few exceptions, “Get out in front and stay there” almost never wins. If nothing else the amount of energy expended in riding alone or in a small breakaway (supposedly about 30% more energy) means that by the end of the race the relatively well-rested peloton riders have little trouble in bringing the breakaway back, and most often the longer the breakaway stays out ahead before being caught, the more likely they’ll finish behind the entire peloton.
The only reason that it worked on this day was because the peloton let the breakaway get so far ahead, and because they had lost track of how many were in that breakaway - it appears that only roughly half the riders knew that there were three riders up the road in the later stages of this race.
By your theory the five riders in the real breakaway at the start (two other pairs - Chile and Paraguay, and Ethiopia and Eritrea - also jumped out from the peloton but faded early) should have finished at the top of the standings, yet two - Oberholzer (South Africa) and Looser (Namibia) - “got out front” but were caught by the middle of the race and didn’t even finish, while Shapira (Israel) and Plichta (Poland) also “ got out front” and made it to the finish but were caught by the peloton on the track and fished 24th and 27th respectively (out of 31 official finishers). They got out in front and stayed in front, yet barely finished…
Kiesenhofer is an exceptional rider - her success is mostly in time trials (although at the time she was also the defending Austrian national road race champion) so she was well suited to riding alone, and on this day conditions and circumstances favored her. But as a rule, getting out front mostly gets you a little TV coverage - “ fifteen minutes of fame” - and an early return to the team bus.
30:49 Anna started her mission
Cheers, was looking for that!
This is what an Olympics is all about!!
04:26:10 I love how Anna Kiesenhofer goes from crying to "there's a camera recording me!", I should puff up and act like champ !
Adorable ☺️.
4:29:10,4:32:21 Thank you for waving and responding to the cheers of the audience.
An epic win for Anna.Never seen a breakaway from 0km is successful before in such important one day race. She defended the amateur(though she's a pro before) in Olympic since pro cyclist is eligible to compete in it.
Yes, indeed. And even funnier (and perhaps more impressive) that the Swiss Marlen Reusser told the Netherland's women that Anna Kiesenhofer (AUT) is still in the lead. The reply was: "Anna who?" 😜
Paris Roubaix breaks usually make it deep in the finale
@@MusikPiratCH A time mark where that happens would be very appreciated.
@@okipienandoro5101 I think it is not seen but from some reports from after the race
I love watching this win. Over and Over. Most amazing break away ever. What a perfect win.
the best part is the female announcer being in total denial on who was gonna win till late in the race
That was the case for the UK commentators also, in complete denial, saying there was little chance of the break staying away, they only changed their tune really late in the day.
For me it adds to the magic of the race, the sheer improbability of it. The best cycling race I've ever seen men or women. And we know she's clean.

And I hope that the record of this race can be watched until the future.
"Attack at kilometer zero". I guess the Dutch team didn't expect that.
So funny to see the dutch faces realizing that they don't won 😂
The commentary is top notch for viewers that aren't familiar with road racing.
Yep. Rochelle's obviously great but that dude is an effing idiot. Completely ruined the watching experience for me. After a while, watched the entire thing muted.
This race was one for the books 👏
After watching this again. I must say thank u to our german neighbours it seems like they slowed down the peloton a bit zo stay aware of the dutch. Tha helped anna.
So thx
What a race "Anna Kiesenhofer" indeed a courages, unbelievable race/win.
Still one of the greatest Olympic victories in any sport.
Congratulations Anna.
to this day by far the biggest cycling accomplishment for austria and it'll stay there forever..
great broadcasters/commentators. as somebody who don't know much about bike race, they explain everything so well.

04.05.2022 - Led the race from start to finish, incredible performance, more than deserved victory, simply sensational, EPIC......Congratulations Anna Kiesenhofer.
Since 18:20 , she was still at the last. But she won finally.
I laughed my hat off never mind dutch. Nice one Cecilie congratulating Anna Kiesenhofer 🚵🏻♀️🎉🎉🎉
Looking back it seems strange the presenters spent so much time talking about Van Vleuten at the end instead of analyzing Kiesenhofer's ride.
I agree - and I find it more than just strange. In fact, on several occasions during the broadcast, the male Australian announcer vasted a lot of time for either bombastic exaggerations, or to jabber about less important subjects while missing the essential ones. For instance, towards the end of the broadcast they showed a replay of Anna's two tremendous attacks (the first at the start and the decisive one with 41,5 km to go), while he kept small-talking at length about the Dutch team management's blunder who failed to inform its riders about the fact that Anna K. was up in front and won the race in style - Anna would have deserved better than that... Kind regards!
04:25:28 I feels bad.jpg.
She didn't know there's a rider in front of her, she didn't won gold.
But what can I say, Anna Kiesenhofer race is legendary.
Que genial que subieran esto, gracias Olympics
Annex to my earlier comments: (I discovered later that) In his article for Associated Press Dave Skretta wrote that Italian Elisa Longo Borghini knew there still must have been one more rider out in front who wasn't caught (= Anna Kiesenhofer): Because Elisa understands a bit of german and had listened to the Germans who kept their riders well informed. Without race radio, the only way how the Germans could have done so was via handy... So, if the Germans were able to inform their riders, why not the Dutch as well???
Wow, even the broadcasters were underestimating the breakaway group for most of the first hour.
It's the heaviest gold medal ever!
Great sports!!I love to watch this kind of competition...thank you

Miss van vleuten is a pro rider who should know that there is a car or bike just behind the leader. If this car is not there und are not the leader

Those Dutch ladies just didn't want to work together. Not surprising really as they really see each other as competitors and not as teammates.

Where the men road race ?
At 4:17:50 you can see both sides of the racetrack with Anna (and the helping cars) in one side and the peloton in the other side, but the peloton didnt see Anna. I'm wondering why.
Maybe, they thought she would be a dropped rider. At that part of the race they become also rather tired and so the view narrows. As Anna stayed first behind and then escaped quickly they might just completely forgot her.
:) :) Watching this in 2022 because I miss Tokyo Olympics!!

Meanwhile I've watched most of the videos about this race, listened to all commentators and analyzers (some very intelligent, a few just stupid hindsight babble), and read a lot of the comments listed below - now, I'm stunned... Why? 'Cause in fact EVERYBODY knew there was no race radio and that this lack of information had led to at least Annemiek Van Vleuten and possibly even the whole peloton forgetting about Anna Kiesenhofer towards the finish (instead of chasing her), WHILE so far NOBODY has picked up (before I did) how simply and logically this could (or rather ought to) have been prevented: By assigning some assistant(s) to just watch the race on tv and constantly pass all informations via handy to the team car and all helpers (the persons who provided drinks and foodbags, and perhaps some more assistants strategically spread along the road), so that (at any time!) Annemiek & Cie could (or rather ought to) have been kept as best informed as possible... Failing to do so turns out (in my eyes) to have been one of the worst blunders in the history of Cycling - committed by the Dutch team management, NOT by their great racing ladies, even though these also (for the worse) seemed to not really have worked together well as a team...
18:22 Anna is planning her move 😂😂😂
She actually said thay she planned it months before the Olympics.
And she trained herself to have enough strength and stamina to complete the mission.
Everything she did was planned.
Incredible performance.
