I don't know of any scythe vendors in Colombia, and cost of shipping would be astronomical.

Ah, but you can get it that sharp with a bit of practice! And we carry all the necessary tools to get it there. ;)

@@FortyTwoBlades I'm anxious to try scything, but I think my estate sale blade might be too jacked up. Had to bend the blade and the tang back into alignment. I haven't determined if it's worth the effort to resurrect this one or just get a new blade. I'm pretty good with a file...tried peening, but just made a lot of noise...quite the difference of opinion between you and your counterparts inre filing v peening.

There are many good reasons that people still use hand tools and take the time to learn & hone skills like this. Never mind all the aggravation and mess, or the noise & belching exhaust of a string trimmer; if it's faster it must be better, right?
I shake my head when I think about all the time I spent fighting with the tangled mess of a string trimmer before I wised up and got a scythe. I'm disgusted when I remember the annoying drone of that tiny engine screaming right behind me while I was decked out in ear muffs, a face shield, and long pants to protect myself form all the racket and flying debris, but I didn't know then that there was a better way!
Now I smile whenever I think about the peaceful, quiet mornings or evenings that I spend getting exercise outdoors, trimming and mowing with my scythe and reel mower while enjoying the sounds of my neighborhood around me and the singing of the birds in the trees.
Using and sharpening the scythe does have a small learning curve, but it is an excellent option for anyone willing to take the time to learn a new skill.

@Bill Simmons Is a scythe blade laminated hardened steel. I've seen the videos of these guys sharpening their scythes by peening...also seen it done with a file. Haven't seen the video where anyone takes a grinder the their scythe blade. Perhaps the blades are the ductile steel you speak of.
