- Pe'ahi, also known as Jaws, is a wave that is not for the faint of heart. Getting in the water when the waves are bumping is a test of patience and experience. The bay is nothing but big boulders, and the current is strong. The waves come in sets and it can be like a big washing machine. Even watching it can be pretty scary.
For those who do decide to surf Pe'ahi, it's important to have a good understanding of the currents and the sets. The boulders in the bay can make it difficult to paddle out, but with experience, you'll be able to find the right spot to catch the wave.
It's also important to have a good level of fitness and to be comfortable in big surf. Even then, it can be a challenging and intimidating experience. But for those who are up for the challenge, Pe'ahi offers some of the biggest and most exhilarating waves in the world. So, if you're ready to test yourself against one of the most powerful waves in the world, then Pe'ahi is the place to be. - Jak na to + styl
This is surfing folks. If somebody made a surf movie of a typical surf session it would be 95% paddling. Paddling out, paddling for position, paddling to catch a wave, paddling back out after catching a wave.
30 years ago I got two waves on a paddle out with a 7-6" there on a nearly perfect day.
I was exhausted when I got out just from the climb down and paddle out.
I was delirious by the time I caught my second wave.
A cleanup set came through as I was paddling back out and so I turned and went in.
I was barely able to get back to the truck I was so tired.
So I never bothered again.
I surf goofy anyways.
We didn't call it jaws then.
Hell I didn't even know what it was called .
Now I bore people with my , I surfed jaws story.
If I had known, I wouldn't have paddled out.
Lol
Now I'm just an old man on a tanker surfing head high at my best.
But I'm still here on Maui after all these years.
That’s was interesting and I’m goofy too
respect brotha

We do/did somewhat crazy things for waves.
This should have been the ending of point break. Patrick Swayze trying to paddle out and keep getting pounded and Keanu reeves shaking his head and eventually arresting him lol..
🤣🤣🤣
I guess thats why they chose an Aussie beach knowing they would get a better ending?
I'm sure he's from Brazil. "Acho que tomorrow good" 👍👌
kkkk is we for sure! 😂😂 bagulho doido! 😎☠️
Brasileiro mostrando q é brasileiro kkkkkk. Se não foi hoje, amanhã vai! Nunca desiste 👏🏼💪💪🇧🇷
Aieeeee aieeeee 😃🇧🇷💩🇧🇷💩
I nearly drowned in South Africa.. I was in the same situation, got caught inside on a 10 ft day, tried like shit to paddle back out, got beaten on the rocks with mussels all over them, never forget it, watching him brought back cold memories..
Brasileiro vida louca! Parceiro brabo 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽🤙🏽🤙🏽 Alohaaa
Great video! Almost like being there.
When even couldn't even make it under the first white water wave, I was worried for him!
He looks like a very fit paddler too.

How do some look at that angry ocean and think 'hmm time for a swim'
When you have a real goal you are ready to endure whatever may happen in between.
Goal is key.
Como.essa febre do rato chego ate ali... Ingres do falcão
ruff going if thats the best line out to the break. better know your shit. More brutal just trying to get outside the break than actually surfing the monster.
Brasiiiilll
" acho que tomorrow good" kkk
The lost art of duck diving w/ out your board
I bet you got here from watching that other guy with the red surfboard being smashed solid for 4 minutes in Sydney
🤙
Do people normally paddle out to Jaws from there??
Not all, but depending on the conditions, there are almost always people getting in on the rocks. Some come by boat from Kahului.
Auwe da bugga was almost there.
These Brazilian surfers are mad 🤣
Geeeeze
Teve sorte que as pedras são arredondadas 😄
so much leash lolol
Gnarly
Is it worth the risk to life?
is that paddle out section ever calm enough to snorkel? lol
Yes. In the Summer.
But I thought 'jaws' is a spot that is offshore and you need jetskis to get you there? Whats this?
It’s Jaws, no, it’s not offshore it’s in a bay; it just looks that way on video. Look it up!
How do you get out of the water without destroying your board?
Good timing and lots of experience. However there are lot of surf board pieces along the coast line.
@@Mauirunner And a healthy dose of luck. Waves are not predictable no matter how much you try.
Mother of god how fast that wave came in... 😳 @ 1:31
Ready, set...NOW, no, wait a sec, no, no, Now?! Hold on, next set...and....NOW, no, wait a sec...
Vou embora, o mar não esta pra peixe! 😅😅😅
He’s Brazilian!! 👌🏻
And there's no lava-- formations like this.
Tuff surfers can't always make it out. Wow
good try
Be safe!
Brasileiro kkkkk
f**k soooo gnarly!!
I question this guy's experience considering he turns his back to the waves at the 2:18 mark which is a no-no to most experienced surfers when exiting on sketchy rocks.
So.... you think he might have only been surfing for a couple of months?
@@wrybread His first season, someone at the airport mixed up his wave storm with Laird hamniltons gun
Why
When irl most people don’t have skidoos
Denided 🤙🏼😅🤙🏼
That's the opposite of being swept out to sea.
30% physical, 30% timing, 40% luck..
100% reason to remember the name
He can't duck dive that board.
You have to turtle a board like that
Brasilian nuts
No respect for the power of mother nature! Not only was the situation impossible with the waves hitting him faster than he could paddle out, he then gets raked over the boulders. This was predictable! That he didn’t get injured or get his board broken into smithereens is a miracle! That he was unintelligible, spoke to something being wrong.
1:33 why the take off ?
Also why is he hanging to his board when trying to dodge the first waves ? There's no one near him
take off was just for fun, and he hangs onto his board and rolls over so he can get under the wave and still be on his board making it easier to paddle out
I liked that move. By jumping off the board he can get deep and under that thick whitewater.
He was hanging on his board so that he can get back onto it fast without having to pull it back.
That paddle out does not look makeable under those conditions, it didn't look like anyone else was going for it.
An Brazilian HOW GOOD
Te falló el riego ????
wanna see vid of bodyboarders paddling out
Then you get to surf 30+ waves

The other side of surfing...
No that’s the same side! :-)
He send fuck that shit...😂
He's lucky he didn't make it out.
@ 1:19 mark... I am ready to bail on this. I know how this ends usually
No thanks!.. Been there done that.
That's the last time he will go at it like that !😭 Goofus
why
Risking his life
Get a jetski. And a buddy
Brazilian beeing brazilian. Try hard. If not today, tomorrow!! 🤙
Brazilian fighter.
No english
Why bother..
You can see he's inexperienced
It was wise of him to admit to self
Surfing unfirmiliar breaks without friends and support is dangerous
You wouldn't have, all black cloth on-- ever. Hawaii uses two tones. Hence, private land history.
And no, lifevest?
Don’t surfers no matter how good you are usually go out in pairs especially with rough surf like that? To me that’s just a matter of common sense and why put your life at risk or others for a rescue attempt knowing this dude couldnt make it out alone???? To me that was a dumb move. Just saying.
I thought he was gonna show me up, big time. Nope. Dumbest move.
Che carciofo 🤦♂️
Rent a boat for God's sake
He is from brasil! Only spoil rich surfers do that!👍👍👍
Jaws is not for learning how to surf.
Peter Page clearly you never tried going out
he is not a beginner
Anyone seeing how he paddles should be able to see he's not a beginner.
Pobre su más encefálica no le ayuda para pensar en el peligro
Don't worry mate surf looked pretty shit anyway
