The lead singing part by Austin Brown (from Georgia) had his girlfriend sitting just off camera for this performance to give the proper motivation.

The song is soul music...and when performed by a white singer, it's called "blue-eyed soul!" There was so much great music during that era. Nice reaction.

Loved the reaction! Yes, this was done in quarantine. Everyone except the soloist (Austin) recorded in their own homes around the country then assembled by their producer, Darren Rust. The vast majority of their releases in 2020 were done that way ... and they are jaw dropping-ly fantastic. Pick a genre you like and they've nailed it each and every time. They recently released collaborations with Don McLean on Don's iconic "American Pie", holiday songs with Alabama and the Oak Ridge Boys, a fabulous video with Lee Greenwood and the USAF Singing Sargents on Lee's "God Bless The USA", Peter Hollens and a 350 voice Patreon choir (all virtual!) on "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For", plus a ton of other covers and originals all done from home. Please keep the Home Free Home Fry home fires burning! Here for it!

Home Free is AMAZING ! Yes they are acapella, they do Percy Sledge JUSTICE who sang it originally in 1966. Yes they are quarantiened and they have a very varied list of about 20 quarantine videos. They did briefly get back together to make a streamed Holiday Special back in November (streamed in December). Recommends from Home Free : Helplessly Hoping, Some Girls Do. Dive Bar Saints (an original written for them), Warmest Winter (written by the lead singer here, Austin Brown), How Great Thou Art, End of the road, When you walk in (another original), The Butts Remix, Man of Constant Sorrow, (Bye, Bye, Miss) American Pie, I Swear (a parody style video), We just disagree, Take me home - Country Roads, Folsom Prison Blues (Johnny Cash cover), Cover Me Up.....the list could be endless :)

Percy Sledge's original recording of this song went to #1 on the pop charts in the mid-1960s and Michael Bolton's version went to #1 on the pop charts in the early-1990's.

They’ve been together for a long time, and became famous after winning the Sing-off show the year after Pentatonix. Lately, they have been putting out a ton of new content, both covers and originals. Their most recent releases are a cover of “American Pie” with the original artist Don Maclean. They have well over 100 performances on CZcams. I recommend “In The Blood”, “Everybody Walk-in’ The Line” ,”How Great Thou Art”, or virtually any other performance. Please go down their rabbit hole.
I would recommend that you start your Home Free journey by watching all of their performances from the A Capella competition show The Sing-Off and go from there. That will give you a great background on this awesome vocal group. They do have a very deep catalog to explore.

Hey, Dani! I just stumbled upon your channel because of your reaction to Home Free here! I was actually excited when you said you had never heard of them! I love seeing people’s first reactions to these guys! They’re the real deal! Many people already gave you many great suggestions for future reactions to them! A couple of those are some of my many Home Free favorites: “Helplessly Hoping”, “Seven Bridges Road”, “American Pie” of course, and they just released “I Swear” last Friday. Loved your reaction! I know about having some of those songs that really get you in the feels! Home Free is really great at that! They also have a humorous side, too! They love being goofballs, too! They’re all really close like brothers!

They have collaborated with Alabama, The Oak Ridge Boys, Kenny Rogers and others. They won season 4 of the Sing Off and are traveling (before the Pandemic) the world.

I would love to see you react to the collaboration cover of the song "Still haven't found what I'm looking for" with Peter Hollens...it's and amazing cover of the with a choir of 350 fans singing along in the video...they did to celebrate how people can get together and make music even in a pandemic...it's joyful, fun and amazingly creative with every group member in a featured solo spot where the all shine...take a look it's a stunning technical acheivement!
They've definitely gone the extra mile in quarantine. In my humble opinion they've released some of their best music while we're all locked away from each other. You should check out their video for "Quarantine" which is a tongue in cheek look at what we've had to do because of Covid-19.

Home Free is amazing. They won the NBC show the Sing Off in 2013 the year after Pentatonix won. They are “country a cappella” but don’t let that title fool you. They sing all genres of music. Their beatboxer Adam is killer and Austin the lead was tremendous. They all take leads on different songs. Try Man of Constant Sorrow, How Great Thou Art, Helplessly Hoping, Country Roads to hear their great harmonies. Great reaction.

This is Austin, with his exuisit classical trained voice, if you want to hear his back to the root voice, you should listen to Austin Brown "Earn it".
It's a really good earhanger, I highly recomending it.

"American Pie" is their latest collaboration with an original legend. They also did "Elvira" with The Oakridge Boys, "The Devil Went Down To Georgia" with Charlie Daniels (no video, unfortunately), and "God Bless The USA" with Lee Greenwood and the US Air Force Singing Sergeants.
For their fun side, I would recommend "All About That Bass", "Champaign Taste", and "Quarantine".
