  • The MAKING OF Band of Brothers.
Enjoy BEHIND THE SCENES footage shot during the infamous BOOT CAMP run by Capt Dale Dye, that was used to turn these actors into WW2 Paratroopers.... Capt Dale Dye had used similar techniques in the preparations for Platoon, Saving Private Ryan and The Pacific.
Executive produced by Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg, Band of Brothers tells the remarkable story of the men of Easy Company-506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division.

BAND OF BROTHERS, A monumental achievement. The actors put their heart and Soul into bringing the series to life, in a way where the characters portrayed were the bedrock for the success of the series. The dedication of all concerned, to represent Soldiers in combat, the realism, physical and mental, in a way that is free of the usual Hollwood style, focusing more on the believable characters, their weakness and strengths. The quality of the series will forever set the benchmark on any drama series dealing with war.

@thehistoryexplorer Yes, my father's story is a harrowing one. He was severely wounded, captured, and left to die by the Germans near a tunnel. He was used as bait in an attempt to capture any American soldiers who might come to his rescue. He survived his injuries and returned to his unit in time for the Brest campaign. He was quite a man, and I deeply regret that he didn't live long enough for me to know him as an adult.

Just finished "Masters of the Air". It was great, but overall(similar to "The Pacific"), it mainly just reminded me how incredible BoB was/is. I feel bad, especially for everyone involved in "The Pacific", it's probably an amazing series, but it's impossible to live up to the bar that BoB set. The timing was perfect, and it's so clear that Hanks knew, from the beginning, how important what they were doing was, and that really seemed to rub off on everyone else.

Even if it was an isolated view of one company, it is way better than any book our kids have in school or what any teacher can talk to them about. The teachers don’t even believe what they are teaching. Band of Brothers should be required viewing for history classes. I have 2 favorite all time shows, Band of Brothers and Breaking Bad.
