The fact that this VERY POPULAR AND LOVED CONCEPT has been left completely ignored is proof among many other things that we are in an animaton dark age
It wasnt ignored, it would be near impossible seeing it would be a licensing nightmare for the creators to even pull this off. I mean there is so many characters from Warner Bros, Lego, Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon they would need permission for each show they use, then they would need the VA of the characters. And it would be near impossible for them to pull something like this off

I have known Pibby for barely a minute-and-a-half and I already feel so heartbroken at her (further) shattered innocence
I love how Pibby develops as the videos goes on, starting by not even knowing what blood is to eventually become the brave leader of a bloody war against an unstoppable evil force, which is reflected physically by her hair changing, and also ties into the theme of lost innocence. Just like the cartoons lost their innocence to become horrific monsters, Pibby must lose her innocence so she can defeat them.
This two minutes long little trailer has better character development than most full series out there XD

So many of these "old cartoons but edgy" things go fo the route of breaking the characters just for the sake of it to try and hammer home the pointlessness of life, but Pibby doesn't give up, she LEARNS, and ADAPTS, and influences those around her to do the same and become stronger versions of themselves to defend each other. That's what it's all about tbh

i like the preschool cartoon logic that pibby has at the beginning lol
-never seen blood before and calls it red water
-after saying the word "quiet" the word pops up on-screen like those prompts to encourage kids to spell out the word, and it accidentally gives away their position
-when it comes to not being heroes, pibby encourages them to *learn*

I also love the animation detail. They nailed the other Cartoon Network shows’ styles and each of the three main characters seems to have a distinct art style and animation.
-Pibby, of course, having a bold kids style with big shapes
-The sidekick having a classic old timey cartoon style from old superhero shows
-The cat lady having a smooth, fluid Disney-like animation style
Aye a very young child learning about the depths of the human abyss. Basically what every human child goes through in a severely dysfunctional family
The fact that she encourages others to learn actually makes her perfect in this situation. All these other characters need encouragement to get over their insecurities, and who better to provide positivity than a preschool character?
Almost like an Anti-Dora character arc.

All the CN characters in a horror crossover is undeniably cool, but I’m more impressed with how quickly and genuinely they developed the original characters. I was expecting something along the lines of happy tree friends where comedic value comes from the unexpected mutilation of some cutesy kiddie cartoon characters. Instead, the way the animators and voice actors captured emotion here without overdoing it into a spoof is genuinely impressive. The feeling of existential dread they were able to evoke is amazing, please make this a full series!
It feels less like just going for shock value, but more that its trying to be an actual story with growing characters.

That's because they arent even working on it... It was an April Fools commercial and even then they dont have permissions to involve CN characters, it would be a ton of money and there is a risk of them being denied.

Holy Shit this concept is FUCKING AMAZING. Obviously the idea of mashing different genres together isn't new but it's usually for comedy while this is legitimately horrifying. I also love the main trio. A hero from a world where nothing goes wrong, a sidekick forced to step into the spotlight, and a villain fighting against something far more evil.

I usually don't like the "cute thing becomes disturbing trope", but I absolutely love this.
The main thing that I love about this is that the threat is taken seriously. A lesser show would play up the assimilations for cheap shock value with the whole "Look! Your childhood cartoons died horrifically!" schtick.
Here though, that concept is given emotional weight and it becomes the motivation for the main character to take on the threat. It seems like real effort will be made to make this a fully realized actual story.
I'm excited to see where this goes!

The way pibby has to grow up in such a short amount of time is so sad. The sidekick and the villan cat lady have some knowledge on villans/active threats but pibby has been living in a world full of colour and fun, no stress, no sadness, no losses and then all of a sudden, boom all her friends are (presumably) dead and her world has been ravaged. If this show actually becomes a thing (which is very likely) then im all here for it.

From the way this corruption has its characters, it seems to only be able to capture like early seasons of characters (look at Jake and Finn) Current Finn even before that distant series didn't keep the golden blade if I'm not mistaken and he's supposed to be missing a arm and I doubt the corruption could fix that

i think the thing that makes this kinda special is that, opposite to others example of "children show but edgy" is that this short alone shows some sad and heartwarming moments among the darkness and an emotional character arc to boot. it has the potential of being a work of love, something you dont see normally in these kinds of concepts. they just tend to keep doubling down on the edgyness without having actual characters to get attached to. this short shows the possibility of feeling actual emotions other than just "HELL YEAH BLOOD, I LOVE EDGY"
Not to mention elements of nostalgia coming together to make one, big pile of character development, edginess and shows we used to watch come back as one to make an entire show dedicated to those we used to enjoy AS kids.
I think nostalgia is a bigger element to the formula.
@@communismoclock9958 while that IS a good point that definitely is one of the reasons why this looks good, in my comment i was only pointing out the contrast to other media of the like that is lots more shallow - being a crossover with a lot of nostalgia doesnt make things inherently good, a crossover CAN be written, animated and executed badly. i was just pointing out how this concept has potential to be really good, with or without crossover (the crossover IS a plus though)
I agree there's just something that's so sad when pibby saw her own blood and the horrified look of those other characters, its like childhood character seeing the real world and its consequences
also very meta, original, & horrific for a big crossover with nostalgic bases. considering this is being posted by adult swim and is (likely) done professionally, that's a massive rarity. especially for a animated medium lol.
as someone above mentioned, it definitely takes more than that to make something good but that alone is (at least) sure to turn some heads. i'm surprised this only has 100,000'ish views right now. this the type of stuff i hope blows up & shows higher-ups that we could use more stuff like this. not even on a crossover/meta level but (as "your friendly friend" mentioned) in writing/execution as well.
Normally I'd hate this, "Oh no, kid cartoons but blood, laugh" but this one genuinely feels like a passion project made with effort and love, I'd like more of it

There's so much interesting character growth pibby could have. Like, Does she know what pain is? Or fear, dread, depression, anxiety, stress, all those very negative things she might... Learn about during the series.
The scene where Fred Flintstone slides to his doom is really the kinda direction i think this will go. All these whimsical characters that are used to whimsical "dangers", that are not really dangers, are suddenly thrown into a situation that dangers their whole existence
Not to mention the characters that had to actually face world ending, planet destroying dangers like Finn and Jake, Amethyst, Mordecai etc. facing this Hunger looking thing and ultimately failing to defend themselves or eachother.

Its actually an interesting thing here, if you notice, there are several random side characters in the side of good characters, and they're fighting the other characters which are corrupted by the goo.

I think the scariest part of that Finn & Jake scene was that it was just stills of them that were being moved around by… Whatever that thing was.
The funniest part is the fact that Jake's face is completely unchanged, so it looks like he's just treating the tv static as a minor inconvenience and just following whatever Finn is doing because he's bored

Seeing everyones favorite classic cartoon characters be turned into horrifying abominations is downright an amazing and horrifying idea. This NEEDS to be a series.
I hope SWAT Kats finally gets some love in the show's weird and gorey way.
It would be nice to see a SWAT Kats villain (like the Time Master) being able to tame the this glitchy Time Eater creature and harness its power to finally defeat T-Bone and Razor and it would be interesting to see how Callie Briggs would process the trauma of losing the 'Kats (especially knowing she had a crush on Razor/Chance) and joining the fight on the side of Pibby to fight against this creature and the villains on its side.

Greenlight this, PLEASE! The concept of this Preschool character being warped into this hellish nightmare and being forced to adapt to it. That is SO unique and I don’t think I’ve ever seen that done before!
This would be insanely cool and creative even if it didn’t have so many characters that I love, the crossovers just adds another amazing layer!
The only thing I know that's similar is _The Promise Neverland_. Even without the crossover characters, this kind of story is amazing: the least expected heroes. I hope that Cartoon Network creates this series!

They were not screwing around with this at all, the premise is phenomenal and something the cartoon world NEEDS! The iconic cartoon cameos let alone the fact they present this character in a fittingly badass way that goes beyond shock value is SO GOOD! The blow up is deserved of, Adult Swim just hit a goldmine with this one

some jerks have already leaked the storyboard of the pilot 10 times and the studio still can't finish the pilot, written back in September 2022.
Imagine how much it'd cost to use all of these characters, not just for CN either. It's implied Nick shows would also be involved.
As cool of a concept this was, it was sadly D.O.A. It would simply cost too much in copyright royalties on top of the cost of constantly animating different characters in different styles.

What really gets me is, instead of a blank or even primal hostility expression usually given to zombies in media, cartoon characters claimed by this glitching mass retain a happy or otherwise smiling expression, but of course hollowed as heck. Definitely makes this a lot scarier than if they had the blank zombie expression. I definitely want to see how this goes and ends and learn the nature behind this glitching mass. A project of this much passion deserves no less than become its own thing so yes please make it an actual series!

I think it’s too be a comment on the way cartoons are being treated now as these hollow vessels of smiles no real story or anything just something mindless for the kids too watch when you want to nap like teen titans go and the power puff girls reboot far from the original in so many ways their just empty and shallow with the only thing remaining is the appearance with a family friendly smile glued on
@@angelpon4351 Yeah that's more or less the kind of smile I felt was on these corrupted characters' faces but couldn't quite put an identifying name on it. Like that generic smile you always see on these characters when they're, like, on the title of their cartoons, or promoting it in things like posters/wallpapers/other medias like magazines, and on generic artwork. The smile you see almost everywhere a lot of the time, like it's the character's default expression when they're not supposed to be harboring any specific emotion. Smile without feeling or mind. So I'm low-key tempted to describe it as the "customer service smile" equivalent of cartoons.
Listen I really don't know how else to name this kind of feeling those specific smiles gave me ok lmao.

This has the potential of being groundbreaking in animation history. Never has a crossover featured over 30 years of beloved characters from multiple different channels! This golden idea has unlimited potential and would have a range of all ages tuning in. Mark my words Adult Swim, green lighting this would be the best decision you could possibly make, and give Dodge a raise for this!!
Despite the Rocko and SpongeBob references, I think they’ll just include Cartoon Network characters and not try to license anything from Nickelodeon. I can’t imagine Paramount agreeing to letting SpongeBob or the Rugrats get killed like this on Adult Swim.
@@FrapD93 I’ve seen a few people suggest that Pibby and Co could use other stations like Nick as a safe haven from the Corruption, as an in-universe explanation for what you said. It would still include them but wouldn’t tarnish the brand or anything.
