@Mrcruisefever1 Bob chipek was more or less deferring to Bob Iger for most of his tenure. It was only the last 4 ish months before he walked out the door that he actually had the power to do what he wanted.

@@Mrcruisefever1Bob Iger never left Disney. He even refused to leave the CEO office suite after his retirement. He was infuriated when Chapek began acting independently.
Most of the Disney disasters at the box office were due to the policies and personnel that Iger put in place. Chapek wanted to be neutral concerning politics but pressure from Disney activists and Iger loyalists within the company forced him to lead Disney against Florida.
Later when Iger was reinstated as CEO then he simply made Chapek the fall guy for failing projects and policies that Iger himself had created. Iger was able to do this largely due to the amount of time for projects to be in development. The lag time from when a project is begun to its introduction to the public is enormous. To the unaware public, it looked as if Chapek had okayed the creation of many of Disney's failures.
Chapek no doubt had to sign a non- disclosure agreement, so he can't tell the details of his tenure as CEO. However, Chapek has said being the CEO of Disney was the worst three years of his life.

It's no longer a good value. They DON'T CARE about guest satisfaction or experience any longer. They do nothing to encourage return visits. It's now a one and done for a lot of folks. They were very clear that AP holders and the middle class were no longer wanted. So I left and took my money with me. It's really sad to see this happening. I loved Disney so much. Our family put on a better fireworks show in the backyard that Disney did this year. We had an hour long show and the fireworks were massive.

I believe there is no saving Disney. It either needs to be sold and restructured or go bankrupt, allowing some other culture anchor to take its place. The commie rot extends from top to bottom. Talent is long gone. They left or were laid off. You can't exactly fire everybody in corporate and replace them any more than you can replace organs with metastisized cancer.
For example, Elon Musk had to buy Twitter and make it a privately held company to enact the drastic changes he did. It was the only way. Even Jack Dorsey suggested such to him.

Iger has just ripped the soul out of Disney.
Disney doesn't seem to be fun anymore. Outside of the fact that people need to plot their stays at Disneyworld with a high degree of intensity just to get the most cost-friendly fun and stay on top of their phones while on vacation, the park outside of the older attractions has all the charm of a food court in a mall.
Disney and the theme parks are no longer for families with children. Walt Disney designed everything for that customer base that Disney has discarded as irrelevant.
Iger has made Disney a machine aimed at cheating people of their cash, pushing woke agendas, and stroking his ego.

Earlier this year, we were boarding the Villains tram to return to our vehicle. There at the waiting area there was vomit all over the ground. No clean up crew. No warning signs. It was disgusting and quite scary that no cast members were there to clean it up or redirect people. The lifetime Disney cast members have gone. The management who cared about the upkeep and efficiency of the parks are gone. The technical maintenance folks familiar with these aging attractions are gone. This starts at the top with Bog Iger followed closely by Josh D'Amaro. They both need to go yesterday. Universal is the new Disney. Our experience there has been wonderful in the last couple of years.

A huge part of it is pandemic related (DIS reaction). People saw Seaworld and Universal reopen after the pandemic (June 11 and June 5 respectively, and yes Florida reopened in 3 months), but MK and AK opened at 50% on July 11, and EP and DHS opened on July 15. People needed to work. UI was not going to cut it, and WDW was not putting employees back to work. They moved on. Better pay, better hours, better management. And considering what occurred with reservations and the elimination of amenities, hotels, restaurants, etc..., the employment loss was far larger than just the 50% park capacity loss. 50 years building an employee base to watch it disappear in 90 days for no real reason.

I've been traveling to Disney for 25 years and can honestly say that I did not experience outright rudeness from one employee in all of that time. I was there in June and three employees were rude. At Peter Pan I was having trouble scanning my phone for our LLs and couldn't get the last one to scan. The cast member was getting mad at me bc apparently I wasn't removing my phone far enough between scans. The final one wouldn't scan and he breathed out really loudly shook his head and threw his hand towards the ride and said "just go." At Tron I stuffed the whole locker full with my backpack and I asked whether it was possible to get another for my hat becasue I didn't want to crush it. The cast member acted like it was the dumbest thing they'd ever heard and begrudgingly gave me another one. When I went to retrieve my belongings I confused my wife's locker with mine and it wouldn't open. I asked the cast member if I was doing something wrong and she angrily said, "you have the wrong locker". My wife and I I waited tables in college and both my sisters waited tables for years and we all had to deal with rude people sometimes so we are polite almost to a fault sometimes. It wasn't me in any way causing a reaction. In fact, although they were rude I just smiled and said thank you to each person. They are definitely going downhill fast

Another thought, customer is king. They pay the bills, never forget that. Never treat a customer with contempt, ensure you deliver any promises made, make employees the core of any strategy, and finally keep it simple. Any transaction should be seamless, surrounded by quality, and the customer should go away feeling happy. Disney needs to dig out its operating manuals from the 1980s and reread them. The brand needs repair, company values needs focus, and I’d like to make a small note here that one should always keep an eye on the competition. I think we’re about to see Disney lose its number 1 spot, sadly.

Disney needs to understand it actively decided to price a lot of regular customers out of its products. It wanted less people but each person that did attend to pay more. They have got what they wanted. Hope they are happy with their choices. It is not how I’d have business modelled sustainable long term growth myself, but it was an active choice they made, and they now need to live with it. If I my put my economics hat on, they need to feel a pain point themselves to be encouraged to relook at their business model. Exactly the same thing they did to their loyal customer base over the last few years. Hope it was worth the risk for them.

For the most part, Disney world today is about the same, but it is older, and less vibrant, and much much more expensive in real dollars. 80 percent of it is literally the exact same attractions with higher prices and more junk fees. In contrast, Universal has completely transformed with new attractions, new parks, a fun atmosphere, and good food, AND it's less expensive. The living fossils that run Disney should all go, and new management should probably start by bulldozing half the parks to make way for something new. They have played the Nostalgia card as far as it will go.

Maintenance and cleanliness is a joke and a lot of these new cm's look homeless and are annoyed they have to be at work. Add to that virtually every addition to the parks pales in comparison to what was there. And they're only lying to themselves. Tiana is a terrible attraction. I'm not one of these Splash mountain forever guys, and I adore Princess and the Frog. That ride is a complete joke and it's so apparent people with zero creativity threw that thing together. This is no longer the Walt Disney company. It's been taken over by talentless hacks with no vision, and I'm glad people are starting to take notice.

UK perspective: It’s now £2,200 min for a family of 4 to buy a U.K. Disney pass. That’s no flights, no stay, no food, no parking, no insurance, no merch etc. Back in 2011 I could buy a Disney and Uni COMBO for £400pp.
Meanwhile, as U.K. guests we’ve lost: 2 water parks operating the same time, fast pass, refill mugs, decent priced parking, parades in each park, live & current full on shows, Main Street Electrical parade, hours in the parks, the list goes on. We also need to spend a ridiculous amount of time watching a phone screen (I want to get away from that real world ****). I’ve been twice in 2 years and still haven’t been able to get on Tron or GoG. We spend a ridiculous amount of time queuing to see characters when this wasn’t a thing ‘back in the day.’ You queued for Mickey etc, but the others just popped out from nowhere! You didn’t spend 2 hours with your kids moaning because they came all this way to see Belle but didn’t realised they’d have to wait 2 hours to see her. You feel like you spend the whole day in line.
They haven’t kept up. They haven’t given the latest IPs the latest rides….Frozen l, one of their biggest shouldn’t be shoe horned into Norway. How many years are we post Frozen??? They should have run with it big style years ago.
Where’s the original ideas? Why are there no more ‘space mountains’ or ‘jungle cruises’? They should have been adding original ideas too. They’ve coasted for so long, and now they are feeling the effect. Disney has always been expensive but it was THE BEST and totally worth all the saving….now I’m not so sure.

Disney Hollywood is a total nightmare in summer. No way to escape the heat without paying in some way. EPCOT is a half day park now. The world showcase is good for dining, and two rides... Animal Kingdom has shorter hours, BUT has shows and shade so it's bearable in the heat. Magic Kingdom has a lot of air conditioned attractions, but dine in restaurants are a loooong wait w/o reservations. A guest really has to pay a LOT MORE than admission to not be miserable anywhere at WDW in the summer.... As designed. Cast members are only human, and dealing with hot miserable guests makes it impossible for them to not get cross.... Seems like they have an impossible task sometimes. Disney is setting the bar very low for Universal.

  • @vikkicolbert6612

Does no one at Disney read the comments left online? The discontent that the majority are feeling about these parks and claims of not coming back? What are the higher up's thinking? I was a teenage when DW first opened in Florida and it was the cleanest place I'd ever seen. You could literally eat off the streets. You never saw a speck of trash anywhere, the rides never broke down, the CM's were polite and very willing to go above and beyond to help you. The characters weren't brought out for 5 minutes and then rushed back by an entourage, leaving little ones crying because they didn't get to say hello to their favorite character. The place was filled with magic. I cried like a baby when the fireworks went off, even though I'd seen them at home every 4th of July. It was just different there. The music piped through the park, the lights everywhere, Tinkerbelle flying from the castle....and there was no need to be politically correct about everything. There was no one talking about rides being racist or a need to have a reservation to be able to sit down with your family and have lunch or dinner. Things were affordable, and you left there feeling like you never wanted to leave. In the last couple of years, I've been going back to Disney and experienced ride after ride breaking down, places running out of food, trash scattered on the sidewalks and employees being snappy and short-tempered with people. The parking prices have gotten ridiculous, the ticket prices have gone sky high. The once super clean bathrooms are littered with toilet paper, soaked floors and non-working toilets. As much as this place has meant to me for better than 50 years, I'm finding myself feeling like this is nothing more than an overpriced amusement park that is more concerned with how much money they can make, than keeping this to what Walt Disney intended it to be....an affordable place where parents can have as much as their children. We are supposed to be going back in October, and after listening to this, I feel like a balloon someone let the air out of. It's almost as if they are trying to sabotage the parks until it all finally goes under and closes. The one damn good thing left on this planet and they are ruining it. I read that Bob Iger is stepping down in 2026, but it may too late to save our beloved parks. Especially when Universal opens their new ones.

That's how I feel. Even most of the people making money off complaining about the parks... are giving money to the parks. One streamer's excuse is "It's my job." Well... there are loads of streamers out there these days. You can get a gauge on the crowds, prices, etc by watching them for free. Save your money on the season passes. Personally, I don't think the crowds are all that low and think there's always a slow-down this time of year; after the 4th of July. (I could be wrong, but this is nothing new. I remember, months ago, that people were talking about how empty the parks were and then weeks later they're talking about how crowded they are). I do think the crowds - especially at WDW - need to get really low in order for anything to change for the better. I'm just not sure I'll see it in my lifetime.
I would rather see the Walt Disney Company have a Renaissance. It could be such a wonderful thing. It's easy to allow things to fail, and right now Disney is doing that brilliantly from so many angles. (Even with how they treat their customer base, calling them racists for not liking their BS shows. I hate how they completely destroyed Star Wars, and clearly on purpose by using their activist diversity hires to do the destruction for them. It's insane that they have "outdated cultural depictions" warnings on their OWN material. That alone proves how much they loathe Classic Disney and all that Walt Disney built for the nuclear family... which they also hate of course). I have so many great memories of Disney. (80's Kid). I would rather see it saved than destroyed, but I'm okay with the destruction of what they're doing now.

I was at Disney World the other day, and just as Pro said, it was unbearable. I experienced some of the same issues, and I honestly couldn't wait to get out of the park. Thankfully, I live in Florida, but for those guests that come from all over the world, I felt so bad for them. Unless Disney gets rid of their entire leadership team, including the individual at the very top (Iger), I can't see myself ever going back. These people have ruined everything about Disney, and it is a shame!

I am not a businessman but there could be a SOLUTION to ALL of Disney's failures and problems. 1. the board of directors need to FIRE Bob Iger. 2, Remove ALL aspects, agendas, and anyone behind and supporting the WOKE movement that has destroyed and divided the company. 3. bring back family values to the company with their movies and their parks. It is possible the company can be saved with the right agendas and people are put in place.

I've never understood the restaurants/quick server closing before the park closes. There have been several times where we're looking for something small to eat or drink on the way out of the park only to walk past serving facilities that are closed. Why wouldn't you sell a $5 drink to people walking out the door. Seems like you'd want to take money until the last person is gone.

We were considering a trip to WDW this summer, after seeing the price tag and planning to try to do everything to get the full experience in the course of a week. It went from being fun to being a chore. We changed our mind and vacationed elsewhere. I'm disappointed that the Disney company changed the DAS pass guidelines and it discriminates against the disabled community and as a parent of an autistic child I have no interest in returning anytime soon.

If you have Tiana's Bayou Disaster and Tron open during extra Magic hours resort guests won't spend the $35 extra to ride them that it cost during the day. I think part of the issue with the park is that no member of the Disney family is on the board of directors. When Roy E. was around he was the Jimmy Cricket of the company since his dad and uncle worked to bring the company from nothing it seemed he felt an obligation to voice his concerns when things were veering away from "The Disney Way" , I think the family now owns collectively about 3-5% of the company. They just don't seem to care about it any more.

Their political views reflect their work ethic. Disneyland and Disneyworld are two cities. Look at cities that have the same political party as garbage cities. I say this as a Los Angeles resident, but they can't run a studio. Why would anyone believe that it wouldn't bleed into theme parks? The company organization is incompetently run. Bob is a reflection of his party. Just imagine if he were president of America. It wouldn't be that different than now. These people running Disney and the people of that political party only care about title and prestige, not the actual work. Bob reflects this ideology.

AP here and we made a very last minute trip the beginning of July. I was SHOCKED when I could get MK park reservations on July 4th! And any other park I wanted for the other 4 days! (July 4-8) The longest line we waited in was to get on the ferry to get back to parking from MK.
We had great CMs everywhere though and AMAZING service at Skipper Canteen, Roundup Rodeo, 9 Dragons and Tusker House.
Our biggest issue was large groups of rude, disrespectful, “entitled” guests who wouldn’t clean up after themselves or control their children. One group destroyed the handicap area of Columbia Harbor House while they let the kids run around and swing on the ropes and scream. Left all their food and trays on the tables (3 tables!), chairs and the floor.
Another group let their kids run through lines of people waiting to checkout back and forth chasing each other while another kid with them screamed her bloody head off. (For no reason except to make noise.)
So we found the CMs to be great but guests to be NIGHTMARES! We left kuddos to the manager and crew at CHH for having to clean up that disaster. They shouldn’t have to do that.
But WDW was SERIOUSLY understaffed IMO the week of July 4th.
    Fantasmic was packed though!

It's because Mobile Ordering "must" come first!! The company pushes Mobile Ordering as priority, this is a problem in EVERY STATE. The main reason The Disney Parks have been able to command such a premium for so many years was because the park experience was unrivaled. Not only was it a well oiled machine, but every inconvenience was already thought of by Disney and taken care of. Navigation was a breeze, transportation was a breeze and and it was all done in a special and welcoming manner. The parks were clean, the rides actually worked and you didn't have to be on your phone all day, you could live in the moment. Now that so much of that is gone, you're going to continue to see guest erosion. The price is no longer worth the sub-par experience and can no longer command the high premium.

Disney’s parks teetered on this path about 20 years ago. Disneyland’s issues started in the late ‘90s and early 2000s with Pressler, and WDW had significant maintenance problems from about 2004-2007. When Iger bought Pixar, Lasseter (of all people) insisted on restoring maintenance and quality. Then it all fell apart again.

But recently I saw Universals VIP experience which is like 350 maybe 400 gives you valet parking, food, behind the scenes tour bus, then the staff escorts you to the front of the line for all rides even the newest most popular ones. Why would I visit Disney when I can have that amazing experience that makes you feel like a real VIP for once in your life for basically the same price as Disney if you want food and fast passes. After seeing that I will definitely give up some Disney days to go to Universal.

I am a Disney Vacation Club member and went to Disneyland for the first time for me in February and it was the worst vacation I have ever had at a Disney Park. When I first got to the hotel they did not even say welcome home, and it just went downhill from there. You walked forever only to find out that that ride was down. I had more fun at California Adventure than I did at Disneyland. Disney has really lost it's way.

The average visitor goes to Disney once every 3 years … not 26 times a year like the creator of this video.
To them - it is perfect. They don’t notice all the small details they’re complaining about like HOT DOG LINES 💀💀💀💀 trust me. That’s only something you’ll care about if you’ve been to the park 3000 times.
My daughter and I just went - the lines were crazy… it didn’t affect our experience at all whatsoever. We rode all the rides we wanted to ride, we went to every show on our bucket list, she got 90% of the autographs she wanted to get… I’m telling you, for a fact - non regular visitors DO NOT CARE.
There’s too much excitement and awe in their mind to care. When you go every day, OF COURSE ITS GOING TO GET OLD AND YOU’RE GOING TO NOTICE HOW MANY TABLES HAVE’NT BEEN FILLED 🤦🏼‍♂️🤦🏼‍♂️🤦🏼‍♂️🤦🏼‍♂️🤦🏼‍♂️ normal visitors do not care, at all. I promise.
Ask a foreigner or someone from Utah “hey what was your least favorite part of your Disney trip” and they will say “uhmmm the hotel price??? I don’t know. Everything is spectacular, I’ve never seen something like this”
These people are not Disney snobs. They work in coal mines and their kids have only ever been to 6 flags and their local state fair … Disney to a huge deal to them. They do not care about how crowded the tram is; THEY HAVE NEVER BEEN ON A TRAM IN THEIR ENTIRE LIFE LOLOLOL

My family visited Magic Kingdom last week and we were very disappointed. The buildings look outdated, the plants looked dead and there were harldy any flowers around the park. The restrooms were dirty, with no refills on paper towels, and trash everywhere. The rides kept getting stuck and the boats piled up on rides like pirates and small world. The foods were expensive and bland. And to top it off, if you stay for the fireworks, be prepared to be stuck and trampled over by the millions of people leaving at the same time through one exit to either the tram or ferry. I will never give my hard cash to Disney again. Save yourself the headache and money and go to Universal instead. We visited both Universal parks and the services were great. Restrooms were cleaned around the clock, the food was good, and the rides were amazing.

Here’s one for you. Let’s go back a few years…until fairly recently:
AP holder for a bunch of years, and all of a sudden, they decide to build Tron where they decided to build it.
(Tron, which is the oldest, worst movie of modern times…but that’s a different subject of conversation.)
And what do they have to close to build this? The railroad, which is the only way to easily traverse all of MK several times in a single day…and the ONLY way to traverse it if you have mobility issues like me. But let’s say you had a temporary mobility issue, like an ankle boot because of an injured foot? Disney’s answer is, “Tough noogies! Walk it!”
But okay. Let’s say they had to close the railroad, but do you realize for how many YEARS the railroad was closed!? It has to be at least two years, probably three, possibly four.
    It’s obscene.

"Unkempt beards and tatoos," yep. They are wanting to be flexible with employees, but the fact is that park-goers want a magical immersive escape from the mundane---which doesn't include sloppy grooming. Pre-Covid, when they had magic hours, we splurged on a modestly-priced resort. We arrived and were led to the entrance to Fantasy Land, where we casually drifted straight onto dwarves mine train, then hit ride after ride after ride, had dinner at Beast's castle, and closed the park. So magical!
Stayed at a resort last year. We were herded to a waiting area at Fantasy Land where we did quite a bit of waiting and then there was a semi-gentle mob-rush in. So, paid more, got up earlier, and had a Disney version of Black Friday. Not magical. I could go on.
