      How could someone think this? As a Jew I feel extreme sympathy for these people. This Corey reporter is wicked and biased in his reactions to these people who have lost everything. This is being recorded in the West Bank not the Gaza Strip so questions towards Hamas don’t directly affect them. Also, how could you assess their daily lives from an interview in the first place? Believe it or not there have been quiet years over the 70+ year conflict which doesn’t inform the overarching conflict. If the questions in this video were about what are the struggles you face as a Palestinian living under Israeli occupation I’m sure they’d have a long list.

    Important notes to put into context:
    This is filmed in the West Bank, where Israel (with minimal co-operation of the Palestinian Authority) has control, and because of that control Hamas doesn't rise and take over the West Bank like they did in Gaza.
    In the West Bank there are more (or equal, depends on different polls and different times) Hamas supporters than PA supporters, basicaly a bad option and a worse option.
    Corey films his videos in areas where he is safe to do so, where generally support for Hamas is not as big. There are many areas in the West Bank that Corey rarely enters, and wouldn't dare ask a controversial questions while there, where Hamas is emphatically admired and pro-Hamas terror cells emerged. For example Jenin Brigades, The Lion's Den, all operating in Jenin a very large city where the Palestinian Authority doesn't have any control or power, and it is used as a Hamas headquarters in the West Bank.
    Despite the bloody rivalry between Hamas and the PA, there are no ordinary Palestinians actively acting against Hamas. The PA struggles to deny them control over Ramallah and parts of Bethlehem and some other places, but in most of the West Bank no Palestinian would dare act against Hamas.
    When Hamas took over Gaza in ~2007, they did so through murdering PA members, resulting in hundreds of dead including women and children in a very brief period. Ismail Hania one of Hamas's leaders, is notorious for tracking PA members who dared co-operate with Israel, torturing and killing them brutally.

      @skoosharama Před 7 měsíci +37

      Corey published a video last year where he interviewed people in Jenin, called "Why are there refugee camps in Palestine?" Search his channel for "Jenin" and there will be many hits.
      It is true that it is difficult for Corey to go to Gaza, and quite possibly unsafe. It is relatively safer in the West Bank.

    • @YotamAlbalach
      @YotamAlbalach Před 7 měsíci +44

      @@skoosharama "many areas in the West Bank that Corey would never dare enter, much less ask controversial questions"
      If you watch Corey's videos you will rarely see interviews from within Jenin. Corey knows that asking the wrong questions in Jenin could have deadly results, so on the rare occasion he did go in there, the questions will have no controversial connotations. He also talks about it occasionaly in his videos.
      Still, "would never" is an exaggeration so I edited it.

Also don't assume that Israel is a homogenous monolith with a single opinion on the matter. Besides the point of those videos is not to give you neither the full Palestinian nor the full Israeli experience, is to give you an insight. The balance of power is much heavier on the Israeli side, which makes peace for their government superfluous but it is not a given that this will stay this way for ever, I just hope soon enough. The noble goal of peace is a challenge, we should all get better to achieve it, but holding to grudges and anger is not helping. @@Physiker17I agree with you about grudges, but I do believe anger is not always unhealthy. Anger is far better than apathy. I’m sorry I assumed your origins and I can’t imagine what living in South Lebanon must have been like. I’m also aware that not all Israelis support this government or war. But is that enough? A good example is my home country Sri Lanka, where we have been ruled by nationalists who belong to the major demographic since we gained Independence: Sinhala Buddhist. We had a civil war for 30 years between the government and a militant group that was fighting for a separate homeland for Tamils, a minority ethnic group. Many Sinhalese voted in these leaders as long as it meant their supremacy was guaranteed. But last year, when our economy crashed and we didn’t have electricity or fuel and ran out of everything from paper to medicine and everyone regardless of race or religion was affected, the public decided to open their eyes finally to the corruption and oppression, which led to riots and the president being ousted. But this didn’t come with liberation for minority Tamils and Muslims, the latter whom were the targets for scapegoating in the years after the war. Freedom for the majority has always meant freedom for just them, not the oppressed. This is what I’ve seen and heard from most Israelis today: against a right wing government to protect their own freedoms but how many of them are protesting the illegal settlements? How many are protesting children being bombed? How many of them have not centered their anti government protests on the safe return of hostages? A handful of activists don’t count. Jews living outside Israel have shown far more solidarity and compassion. Which is why I’m not sure peace can only be achieved by either the Netanyahu regime or Hamas falling. It has to come from Israelis first viewing Palestinians as equals, deserving of their liberation, lands and dignity. This is why the Palestinian resistance is so symbolic for oppressed groups living around the world. Sorry this is long lol.

However ever since Netenyahu was re-elected the settlements program was funded far more heavily and the general life of Palestinians started being squeezed tight again. Especially considering one of the people in Netenyahu's cabinet, Ben Gvir had Goldstein's picture (the guy responsible for the 1994 Hebron massacre) in his house before being elected, not exactly someone who would see Palestinians anything less than a subjected people, and he's in charge of National Security.

It appears almost as if the text on top is saying something different which someone else wants us to hear? This begins at 4:02

The security restrictions become necessary including the need for permits. This has zero to do with racism, considering the fact that Arabs Israelis have equal rights and don’t need permits. How is that they can't see any connection between bombings and Israelis being super cautious? I mean would you let your neighbor into your house if there was even a slightest chance of him harming you or your family?!
    It's unfortunate that all those years have passed and they're still sayin that they're hoping for peace, but they sure do support their terrorist silently or vocally, it doesn't really matter.

      When Israel left southern Lebanon in the 1980’s, it created Hezbollah, and when they left Gaza in 2005, it led to the rise of Hamas. Israel has very legitimate concerns to believe that if they de-occupied the West Bank, the West Bank which is a gigantic piece of land that can be seen from Tel-Aviv would turn into another region for Pro-Palestinians terrorists to operate.
      So Hamas isn’t in control of the West Bank, but Israel is currently occupying the West Bank in an attempt to crush any possibility of Hamas, or any other Palestinian terrorist from taking over and becoming a severe threat to innocent Israeli’s living in Israel.
      As a result, it has caused severe suffering in the West Bank that has forced innocent Palestinians to live in a severe form of apartheid. The situation is also not helped by Israeli settlements being constructed in the West Bank.
      Unfortunately the situation is monstrously complicated, and I personally think both sides have very legitimate reasons to be angry and concerned.

I thought particularly interesting was the man who hadn't been to Jerusalem since 1998 and the guy who said he was angry at the Arab countries for not caring about Palestinians. Although this was 2013, I think its obvious HAMAS really is more than its militant wing. Although they didn't really help Palestinians in rebuilding Gaza, they did supply them with jobs building tunnels and smuggling goods in under the blockade. And Israeli occupation is a legitimate complaint to have. I see why they support HAMAS even though HAMAS has only escalated the situation. I wonder how the opinion is currently, I'm sure its far more divided.

      The security only started because of the attacks from them. The wall was built in 2005 after the intifadas not before. It’s not a chicken and egg scenario here it’s defense.

    Before we jump to conclusions, we need to realise a few things. If they denounce Hamas, Hamas might try to silence them, and society might ostracise them for criticising their only hope.
    If they support Hamas, Israel and its allies might classify them as a target/imprison them. The world might lose sympathy for them
    Very easy for us to judge either side of the conflict. Very hard for them

    Remember folks, this is filmed in 2013, which is even before 2017, when Hamas changed their charter and acknowledged 1967 borders.

    In min 7:35 your translator was telling the other guy what to say telling him to don’t make a mistake and to say no as he continued you see even that your translator already answering before the interviewed guy says a thing be careful

    The sad fact that Palestinians go above and beyond to defend or justify Hamas and their actions, Like Hamas wouldn't execute such abhorrent evil acts on them as well. I'd love to know what they think of Hamas now post their terror attack on Oct 7 or will they blame Israel like they always do?
    As the son of the Hamas founder said, Hamas hate Israel more than they love their own children, And it seems like the Palestinians follow suit even when the terrorists use their people and land as chess pieces for their own gain.
