- Millions of Americans are sharing stories and pictures about Monday's historic solar eclipse. Photos taken across the country captured the moments when the moon passed in front of the sun. The 70-mile-wide "path of totality" attracted record crowds. Jamie Yuccas reports from Madras, Oregon.

I can tell you I drove 10 hrs and it was totally worth it! To be in the path and watch the sun go dark is unlike anything else on Earth.
Looking forward to April 2024.
I've seen several it's no big deal.
Jordan Martirossian I drove 14 and I agree. Totally worth it!
@ Orange70383
Your comment is no big deal to most people.
I will see it again !! Filmed it in Columbia where we saw everything !!!
orange70383 woahhh youre sooooo cool omg please become my master I’ve never met anyone soooooo cool
I was in high school when this eclipse happened. We all headed outside that day and watched it happen. We even got to see totality. It was an absolutely beautiful experience and once I will cherish forever.
Same. The most beautiful thing I ever saw 🤩
Same I was 16 😂😂
Same I was in 7th or 8th grade
Did u have the glasses or did u go blind?
@@stephygonzalex4345 We all had the glasses.
I was there, and yes, traffic was horrible (i was in traffic for 15 hours), but it was so worth it. One of the best experiences of my life.
My hometown will have 2 total eclipses in 2024 & 2045. I’m just going to step outside to see them both. So excited for this....
-- God willing

HOW DO U NO
im guessing you’re somewhere near arkansas
Oh Coool!!!
Lucky duck 😂
I saw it in Columbia
Watched this in a taco bell parking lot in Salem after sleeping in the nastiest hotel ever to exist. Then after it was over it took over 20 hours to drive back to southern cali.
I was camped out at a Walmart parking lot 😂
I live in Kansas City MO and we got totality here. It was, by far, the most beautifully spectacular thing I think I'll ever see in My lifetime.
Me too I seen it
Was just thinking back on this day. It was a truly uniting experience with everyone.

@@Jpthebest_YT didnt ask you
I was in school and all we had to do was step out and look at it, which we did it was amazing
It was beyond beautiful. I saw it in Illinois it was great
It was amazing. I remember it like it was yesterday. I was alone in the middle of no where.
We went from Hagerstown, MD to a rest stop in central Tennessee. All the traffic backups, all the stress, it was all worth it. Completely.
I saw and taped it in Columbia. I will drive to see it again.
The beauty of totality was beyond belief !!!
My dad and I traveled down to Kentucky (or Tennessee, I honestly can't remember lmao) to see this back in 2017 and it was incredible. I'll never forget it, especially seeing that 360 sunset all around you. The temperature drops just a bit and on all sides of you, there is a lovely sunset. It's incredibly eerie because where we were, all of the animals went quiet.
And then it took us almost 3 hours to get out of there. 💀💀
The next one is passing right over where I live in 2024 so that will be exciting that I don't have to travel this time.
If you think waiting for 2024 is a long time, before 2017 the last good eclipse in the us was in 1918!
I think it’s 1979
Who's here for the 2024 eclipse??
Me!
It’ll be here before you know it 👍🏾
Me baybee! Happy Eclipse viewing!
Amazingly I didn't encounter any traffic out of the ordinary. But then again I wasn't at a crowded viewing party. I was relaxing with my son at a friend's home in Clarksville, and we got to see the total eclipse for 2m 31s in the comfort of their back yard. Then we drove back to Memphis, and the only heavy traffic we saw was about a 10-15 minute delay for a really bad crash outside Paris, TN.
I-65 between Nashville and Louisville turned into a 100-mile parking lot for 4 hours. Was not amusing. I was just passing through to Indiana on my way back from FL. lol
Carbondale residents will once again see totality in April of 2024. Lucky them. I might have to come to the US for this one.
I remember them advertising this event as once in a lifetime, but apparently at total solar eclipse happened like once every 2 years or so, so like I thought I would never see one again
That one was I think such a big deal because it crossed over almost the entire US, meaning almost everyone was close enough that they could drive to it if they wanted (except the north-east)
i remember this in like summer camp at 7 yo before it happened i used to think that when the moon blocks the sun i thought the whole world would be dark completely lol
It was my first total solar eclipse and on this Leo's 32nd Birthday!!
Leos are ruled by The Sun you know 🌞😻BEST BIRTHDAY EVER!!
It was the most amazing experience of my life seeing it in Beatrice, Nebraska in that crowd of more than 10,000 people while Bill Nye the Science Guy was narrating what was happening. It was so emotional because his show was always there throughout my childhood and he was standing on the stage only a few yards from me, teaching us all while we felt that unforgettable childlike excitement again💖
On that day, I became an eclipse chaser. It reminded us all just how beautiful nature can be. We were all so worried about the clouds obscuring the eclipse and at the last moment, the clouds parted and let us see it in all its glory. The Sun is 400x the distance from Earth as the moon and yet the moon is approx 1/400th the apparent size. I am not a Christian but if that 'coincidence' isn't divine, I don't know what is.
It's 2024, I'm preparing for the April 8th eclipse. I'm in Ohio and only an hour away from an area that will experience a total eclipse. I'm trying to figure out a route to drive that won't be a cluster when coming home.
So many people came from all over to see this and all I had to do was walk out my front door lol. Lived right in the middle of it.
you're so lucky damn lol
@@CassiniA312 yeah this upcoming one we're not in the totality but we still get to see 90% of it and I still got my glasses from the last one
It’s 2024 y’all ready?
Can't wait! Right over my house!
I flew from Miami to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. It turns out that the weather was predicted to be cloudy in Myrtle Beach, so our group drove to Columbia for 2 1/2 hours. BEST minute and 44 seconds of my entire life! Can't wait until April 8, 2024. C 'mon calendar, move already.
Almost here!
I'd really like to see Uranus
Giver her a moon
oh my god this is awesome!
If you miss the one in 2024, worry, because there isn't another one coming around this way for a long, long time!
Me back in 2017 - wow this is Historic never again in my life
Me in 2024 - wow this is historic never gain in my life
So excited for 2024!
I enjoyed it, t was so awesome.
Trapped in a 10 hour traffic jam was well worth it. It was an astonishing sight.
One of the disadvantages of living in the center of Mexico 😢
Look at all these people staring directly at the sun without any eye protection.
Also, the report says from Oregon to North Carolina, which reiterates that this eclipse event was viewed from the west to the east that’s impossible
It happened. Case closed.
Who is watching in 2024?
Yeah, this has got me not wanting to drive to see it, i am in nyc and no way i am sitting in 15 hours of traffic
SMFH
*I was there filming* BEST THING EVER !!
Today there is a solar eclipse here in India and other countries. Usa now is probably sleeping

Next Monday we will have another solar eclipse starting at 11:07 a.m. April 8 2024
(Never seen one before)
1:10 Wow.
Thats weird Big bens bong has a last sound now that america has a eclipse
You know in the day the stars are still out in the day you can't see them because the sun and the bright blue sky
At night you can see the stars because of the dark sky
berserk moment
i live directly under the total eclipse for 2024 so lucky me i guess
Experiencing a total eclipse in a crowd is the worst way to do it . Watching it is not what it's all about. The best place to be is at a lake. Hearing the Birds stop chirping and flying to their night spots and listening to the Crickets Come out is what it's all about
A once in a lifetime moment
2years ago reporters says the next one is on 2024 and today june 21 2020 it's happening again..😂
its a partial solar eclipse not a total solar eclipse
@@hikkicantspell okay sure but first read the caption of this upload
I love how everybody turned into total "science nerds" when it happened! Wow!😊
I was 7 when this happens good memorys
Btw ik its spelled memories I can't edit comments on my current device
Looks like I'm putting in for a vacation day in 2024 hopefully it will be enough notice for them lol I will be in the totality
I remember it I saw it it was awesome
One brief moment in time ….
The greatness of GOD was visible.
I drove up the coast of Oregon to see the last total eclipse. It was magnificent! Like I expected it to. Perhaps because the Pacific reflects light does reflected the light up to the cloud up to the Pacific, the Sony, allowing a dusk like darkness. If you were on loud, you wouldn’t have that same reflection going on. I still loved it though. What I travel great distances are paid great sums of money to see the other one? Doubtful. But I won’t have to. They’ll be another one coming by at this time. And I’ll drive up five and be in the middle of the State, without the Pacific, reflecting the sunlight up to the clouds. I was standing next to a couple kids with their parents, maybe 10 years old, or eight years old. The kids are screaming. Awesome! Which added to the occasion! As the proper eyewear. Forget that hold a piece of paper. I went online to find the proper eye protection.,😎
Now it’s 2020 and it’s here
Love it 💚
In medieval time ppl would get on their knees , now they are cheering.
Can we have an upward slope across America next?
how do you know

Where I was at North America it was dark and light
The sun doesnt go dark, it just gets hidden by the moon for a few minutes. Worship the creator of the moon and sun that put them in orbit, instead of being in awe of this.
i guess
Imagine getting this excited by shade? I've got some snake oil for sale for those interested. It will ward off the angry gods
Wow, thats one darkness everybody loved. Huh? It'll be nice if that could run through the human race that way. Earth would be a better place.
“The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and terrible day of the Lord come.” - Joel 2:31 KJV
Better to confess your sin to God now and trust the Lord Jesus Christ as your personal Saviour before that day! Ye must be born again (John 3:7 KJV)
“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.” - Romans 3:23-26 KJV
Is there going to be another one in 2024?
Yes
Rare my arse there's another one in 7 years that'll be centered about 130 miles north of this one. I've seen several full solar eclipses.
