Being born and raised in Louisiana, I grew up hearing so many of these stories, myths, and legends. With it's dark, thick woods, creepy swamps and bayous, and it's dark and bloody history, it's no wonder so many legends arise from this state, much less New Orleans by itself. Thank you for representing a bit of our culture.

Some more details about the haunted hotel: It was an orphanage at one point and the child ghost was given to them because he had severe birth defects. His father was an abusive alcoholic who beat his wife throughout her pregnancy. The matron of the orphanage allowed people to see the child for a donation to the orphanage as long as they behaved themselves. He was viewed as an example of the consequences of the evil of alcohol and domestic violence. People experience the ghost of a boy running, laughing and sometimes hiding their things.
The matron is another ghost in the hotel. She was a good woman and protective of her children. After she died, any caretakers who abused the children in the orphanage reported unexplained sounds and injuries until they left. Guests at the hotel sometimes report waking up to find their sheets have been tucked into hospital corners while they slept. She is still trying to take care of her children.

So many left out … The Beast Ramon and The Bloody Lady, the oldest known vampires in New Orleans legend; Bras Coupe, The Zombi King; Violette, the Zombi Child; the Devil Baby; the Swamp Golem; the Axeman… I’ve written about all of these, and am currently writing about more!
Regarding the Grunch, Grunch Road and the Albino and dwarf outcasts were all located in an area called Little Woods in East New Orleans. Many people disappeared out there, but there are some who survived their encounters with the Grunch. However, there is some overlap between the Grunch and the Sigbin, a goat-like creature of Filipino legend connected with the vampiric “Tik-Tik.” The Filipinos of St. Malo, the first Asian settlement in America, located out in the “trembling marshes,” knew both well, and it has been said that they brought the creatures with them from their homelands. The Grunch is still out there today.
East New Orleans was also home to a werewolf cult - and to actual werewolves - in the ‘70s. It was a genuine scare back then, and at least one child is believed to have been turned into a werewolf by the cult leader.
Regarding Madame Lalaurie: Almost every detail of the stories told about her are absolute fakelore. To this day (the events occurred in 1834) she is repeatedly maligned by tour guides on the steps of her own house, 364 days a year. People will believe anything, apparently.

    • @nathanirby4273

Most of the stories from the quarter are heavily heavily embellished, I should know, I was a tour guide there. Atun Shei films as a great video on what that's like and the truth about many of those stories , and I Definitely recommend it.

      Where is East New Orleans?
You mean "New Orleans East"? or "Da East"?
I have never seen or heard anything about a Werewolf Cult. My family has been here since before America existed and none of the elders remembers this including my parents who were young adults at that time. The Times Picayune archives return nothing and it has records going back to the 1800s. I'm very interested though, whats your source?
The Filipinos mixed their legends with the Maroons who had come out of Florida. The Grunch creature is a mangy racoon/coyote same as the "chupacabra"
"A jazz record a day keeps the axeman away"
A lot of people forgot about Bras Coupe. I remember the old folks laughing about the "same ol tricks" when Foti/Harry Lee were complaining (much like other LEO Leaders) about being outgunned and needing to escalate tactics back in the 90s. Glock was there to cut a multi billion dollar (and growing deal) across the nation
LaLaurie makes money, same as the stories coming out of the Myrtles which are also historically incorrect, impossible and a lie /shrug

The one in the church and the two brothers. We went into a voodoo shop. She went one way and I went the other. I was looking at the voodoo dolls. I heard someone calling my name. I thought it was my wife. I went to her and she didn't call me. There was only three people there. Me my wife and the lady working there. I asked the lady. Was she on the phone with someone. Thinking it was her talking to someone. She said no. I looked at the woman kinda supposed. I told her what happened. She gave me a smile. The doll was talking to you. She said it happens sometimes. I asked her how did it know my name. The doll felt you and knows things about you after you picked it up. I believe in all types of religion. The Haunted Mansion in Disneyland in Anaheim, California must’ve been inspired by Louisiana’s ghost stories and myths, besides the ride is in New Orleans Square in Disneyland. Zombies were originally from the Caribbean and Louisiana, way before horror movies, I’ve watched Scooby Doo on Zombie Island when I was a kid. It took place in Louisiana and it has zombies, ghosts, a haunted house, voodoo, and immortality-seeking werecats. Louisiana sure has lots of horrifying myths and ghost stories that have been told for many years. Pretty creepy and terrifying.

One night we were driving along laughing and joking drinking beer and smoking along what was widely known to be Grunch Road there was a small canal on one side and people used to do illegal dumping there . one night we were driving along slowly around brush and trash piles and something hit the side of the truck with a fierce bang. we all screamed and didn't know whether to laugh or cry we spun around and got the hell out of there back onto the paved road that ran along the lake Haynes Blvd. When we finally stopped there was a huge dent in the side of the truck.
