What a lot of people do not know is that Heathrow is closed for flights between 23:00 & 04:45 due to noise restrictions for the nearby housing. When it re-opens at 04:45 it is for Heavy Aircraft landing only until 06:30, apart from a few Mediums, so both runways are used for landing as shown in the video. Actually it is only heavy traffic up to almost 07:00. At 06:30 the departures start so landing is then only on one runway. Incoming aircraft are then stacked in one or two areas and sorted into landing order and spaced by ATC according to type to avoid wake vortex

Used to live near London City Airport and loved plane spotting. Watching planes take off and land was awesome. I lived like a couple of minutes away from the airport so really, really close.

Expo Aviation yes as school - holiday spotters we were spoiled - including Concordes to see. There were dedicated viewing facilities on the Terminal rooftops as well as unofficial spotting locations on the car park roofs and the views were less obstructed.
