I always loved this storyline, don't care what anyone says. It was a great effect having Joel be a movie director and directing Rita to impersonate Krystle. Then he starts directing Krystle, I think in the bathtub scene. I liked the scene when Krystle lost it in the attic, threw the TV and screamed at Joel, "What do you want from me?" In this fight, Krystle was fighting for her freedom in addition to just wanting to kill Rita.

Not really it was a pretty standard way to shoot fight scenes where two stunt men did the actual fighting in place of the actors. Closeups would be the actor faces while the fighting was two stuntmen. This is exact same technique it is just when they cut in shots of the actor it is the same one [Linda Evans] both times. Sitcoms like The Brady Bunch and Gilligan's Island had already done 'split screen' effects to have the same actor in the frame twice.
Though it is considered dynasty's jump the shark moment ..I loved the Rita /krystle story line ..it was so over the top ..hugely camp ..most far fetched story ...until Fallon got kidnapped by aliens on the Colby's

Fake Fallon was abducted during The Colbys final episode Dynasty had to wrap that mess up in season 8. Linda Evans did most of her own stunts because Barbara Stanwyck had told her to do that on, The Big Valley. Linda has admitted that herself. Krystle had inner steel. One of the most poignant moments for me in the whole series is during season 9, before Krystle leaves for good for brain surgery and her niece Virginia is told by a tearful but quite calm Krystle at that point, she is told that she will probably die David Paulsen did a great job as showrunner in the final season. Linda Evans as Krystle got some decent scripts. Not seen for several years

I agree completely! This was much worse than Moldavia. Other than the governor's race story line in season 8, this is my least favorite story. In fact, sometimes I think this one is my least favorite. It's just so stupid.

One problem was that it went on waaaay too long. I never thought she would get out of that attic. Plus, it made Blake and all the rest of them look stupid because they couldn't tell immediately that she was an impostor.

This was a typical soap opera run of the mill imposter storyline. Forgot some of the plot (that's how ridiculous this show became at this point), but recall Sammy Jo was scheming to get some inheritance or something. She plotted with one of her corrupt business partners (forgot his name, he was played by George Hamilton) to kidnnapp the real Krystal get a "look a like" (Rita) to impersonate her, into signing over an estate or some BS. They were also plotting to poison Blake (or were trying to), but simply put, this storyline was just stupid as hell.

It could have been fun if Alexis saved Krystle. After their strange meeting at the Roadhouse, Alexis could have spied the Delta Rho Farm and suspected something strange about Joel. This storyline is completely unredeemable and shark-jumping, but at least it could have been amusing to watch Alexis team up with Krystle to free her.

it was Sammy Jo's scheme gone awry... she saw Rita in a bar and thought she resembled her aunt Krystle and thought she could pose as Krystle for a while to get her inheritance. But Rita's boyfriend Joel Abrigore had bigger plans and kidnapped Krystle (and fell in love with her in captivity). It dragged on for so long... and culminated in this cat fight lol
@@MrJuly1990ish Poisoning Blake to death was not part of the plan, that's why Sammy Jo ended the Krystle/Rita scheme. I loved the storyline, it was fun and suspenseful, which is what a soap is supposed to do. Apparently, most of the fans like boredom.

This is what they called Jumping the Shark back in the day. I think that term came from Happy Days when Fonzie actually jumped a shark while water skiing to save the show from low ratings.

It could have been fun if Alexis saved Krystle. After their strange meeting at the Roadhouse, Alexis could have spied the Delta Rho Farm and suspected something strange about Joel. This storyline is completely unredeemable and shark-jumping, but at least it could have been amusing to watch Alexis team up with Krystle to free her.
With Sammy Jo it's more credible (she already understands her faults).
