Only way to launch fast in a manual 😂
@@thecarward kinda but not really. Set throttle to peak torque and release moderately fast but dont dump it and try keep your gas foot still until wheelspin stops, where you can then floor it. Shouldn't spin at all if you hold it at the right rpm's though

a lot of older cars also need you to push the gas a bit so it doesn't stall
did u even watch the video?
@@VeOur The point is that in older cars clutch + gas isn't anything special, rather something you have to do.
@@onddu2254bought a 2002 civic today and having to undo all the muscle memory I have from being lazy with my old 2010 manual car
True, 7 months after passing my exam I was driving in an older car and kept stalling. Then I noticed the car needed more gas to get going
@@zigzaggamingonline8960also driving an 04 Acura el basically the same car and yes it will roll without gas but it wants gas to actually get going
I prefer arriving at the biting point while having the pedal brake pressed and when you have to go fastly swap brake pedal to accelerate so the car starts instantly and it gets the gas fast. Literally the method for not stalling when you are on a climb, but I use it everywhere, cause it's way safer since you don't know if your car could go backwards in any road you are, even if for you it doesn't look inclined
Most experienced drivers do it this way. 😀
doesnt that wear the clutch though? i understand its a pretty good way of being prepared and i sometimes use it.
@@Kris28. just get low on the biting point when you expect to move soon, when you see a gap on a roundabout, when you see no one going at a junction (you can expect your light to go green after a while of waiting and no one moving)
I’m an absolute amateur who only knows the basics and I figured this out myself.
If you do that clutch will wear out soon. You should always try to minimise engaging clutch
Don’t hold your foot on the clutch in first if you are stopped at a red light, you will wear the clutch throw out bearing very fast. Put the car in neutral at a stop and use only brakes, Same with completely still traffic, and only use the clutch when you start to pull off or creep. That’s what the brake pad is there for.
Totally agree on that, I'd rather change the break pads little bit more often than usual, than changing the whole clutch system
To both of you wombats; brake, not break!
@@mcp6628 yep same
what do you mean by use the breaks? if ur car is stopped how can u start moving without using the clutch?
@@jolyonn5619 bro are you illiterate, read it again ...
For the people saying u will wear the clutch if it’s constantly down that’s not true yes it’s better to be in neutral when waiting but waiting with ur foot down ur not wearing the clutch but a bearing not ideal but if u wait with the clutch slightly up or on biting then yes that’s wearing the clutch but if it’s down it’s the bearing
So does this mean fast startup wearing the clutch less since at biting point it wears harder?
This needed some punctuation, had a hard time reading this

Great vid as always! this is what i struggle with you also covered the point of letting the clutch off to quick as u want to go quick which results in a stall, that happened last lesson to me he, but its good to see how to improve, keep these up!
off topic question when would you allow a student to start doing roundabouts (after how many hours of learning)
Thank you, glad you found it helpful. With roundabouts, I sometimes introduce on the first lesson but not go in dept. It's not a thing where I'm like, 'OK, you've done 10 hours now, we're going to do roundabouts.' It depends on the learner, what we've done before, what they want to do etc.
This helps a lot
mainly important in petrol cars, my black box hates me for this every time i set off i get notified for accelerating quickly, worst it when going on by pass and going from standstill straight to 70 to get up with traffic
Am struggling with this honestly, and this video is very much appreciated

I got a manual ford ranger from 2006 a few days ago and ive stalled at a lot of red lights. Its very annoying. But recently I've been getting the hang of it and I'm enjoying driving it so much. This video definitely helped me too..
Make sure its not bogging for any reason.
I've had my younger brothers friends saying about stalling, but they drive fine, two cars with bunked up air filters and near clogged throttle bodies!
@@ChrisKronk117 Oh for sure, it is definitely clogged up but that wasnt the reason for the stalling- I was just an idiot lol. But we're getting a new engine because this one is pretty much shot.

Thank Korey. Glad you found them useful.
Good info, dont hold the clutch down at red lights! Get the car into neutral!

My driving instructor is 'new' as in they're a post covid instructor, yeah they're not 25, mines 50 and plenty of years driving behind him. But he teaches me that clutch and no gas at all times, this and me being really tall, I can't clutch control super well (not enough space for my legs). But seeing this, is like a lightbulb moment, if there were more instructors around I'd drop him in an instant he doesn't let me do this going forward.
It shouldn't be a matter of letting you or not letting you, it's about what works best for you and the car. It's harder if you don't trust your instructor so it might be good to have an honest chat about what you're thinking. Good luck with all your lessons.
If Giggs tells you to use more gas with clutch, you do it!!! 😂😂😂
The fastest possible way is to: clutch, 2nd gear, acceleration pedal to the floor, throw the clutch pedal.
Respect
I have more than 10 years of driving, but I wouln't be able to explain it better. I'm at a point where I don't even really know how I'm doing to move fast. I'm just doing it.
Great content!
Thank you Yannick 😀
Thanks for the tips on moving the car quickly from start. Do you know if moving up the gears at high revs can damage the clutch? Cheers
No it will not but will effect your car efficiency
No but it will eat a little bit more fuel
This is why i live bikes more. You have so much easier time to control the clutch with fingers and just rocket off so much quicker. The bike at that traffic signal launched instantly without putting too much rev.
When I'm brave enough and my girl allows me, I might get one! 😁
@@ZONDOdriving I hope you do. It is a lot of fun. Stay healthy and drive safely!
This is beautiful advice. Is it better to just put in neutral when seeing a red light or downshift
Downshift
Is this the same for both diesel and petrol cars? I was taught on a diesel car and passed a week ago and bought a diesel car but I'm always a bit slower than tge other cars around me.
Have you done a video of you moving off on 2nd gear ?
If driving a petrol, you need to add gas before moving off the clutch.
Got a lot of nice trainers in ur vids. I get confused with the bite and controlling
the pedals
Thank you. But they are not that many. I just look after them and they last for years.
I will try this, when i hear it roaring i assumed i gave it too much power and will screw up the clutch or something else
Let us know how it goes. The roar is neccesary if you want to pick up speed quickly
Okay i understand how to move fast on for example traffic lights, but how to move on them when i stay on the hill upwards? I always struggle with that and i dont understand myself how everytime i did that
clutch at the biting point and gas while slowly letting it out. the biting point will hold you. but u shouldn’t hold it
I’m just going automatic. Clutch is just a headache 😂
Whatever works for you. Don't let anybody tell you anthing else 😁
the thing goes skrrrrraa
Skididi pap pap
With traction control on, RPM is timited to ~2500 RPM, (petrol or other brands can deviate). So feel free to send it full, then jump off the clutch.
So this is how it worksssssss

My foot stake on clutch every time i need help pls my brother
Does this damage burn the clutch ? I be scare to try to because I don’t want to hurt the clutch but I need to learn how to take off more quickly
It won’t hurt the clutch as long as you don’t hold it at the biting point for too long 😊
Hello, how is it going. I'm having a problem with shifting from 1st to 2nd gear ⚙️ it jerk every time I shift. Anything I do to void it?
give it a bit of gas when you are letting of the clutch maybe. you could also check videos on rev matching if you have the problem when shifting down.
Hi. This usually happens if you bring the clutch up too quickly after gearing up. Try to bring the clutch up smoother and you should see a difference.
On my car, if I don't give it gas before releasing the clutch, it goes straight out. It's very nasty when someone does not respect the distance and stops 20 cm behind you. And I'm on a high hill it's very stressful. I have to hold the clutch all the way down and the brake. And then very quickly and at the same time I have to step on the gas and release the clutch to the "bite" point. Literally the car goes backwards for a second and it's just enough to hit the one behind me. If I fail to start properly and the car dies.
Sounds stressful. If it's like that, it might be best to use the handbrake technique. czcams.com/video/wQQTNyJ2mog/video.html
What he said, why make it so stressful for yourself? Use the handbrake so there's no chance of rolling back, then take your time to find the bite point and release the handbrake off you go.
Fun fact, You can snap your neck in an accident/collision with the seat reclined too far back.
I got used to using gas because you need it on hill starts anyway
That's good because a lot of people don't use it when learning to drive. It makes things smoother.
It's a common knowledge. At least it should be.
Don't stall much in my driving instructor's car but I manage to always stall in my dad's very old petrol car:( Also wouldn't pressing the gas before the clutch reaches the biting point, stall the car?
Hey, no, pressing the gas first won't make it stall. The opposite is true. If you bring the clutch up first before the gas, you're more likely to stall then. If you're stalling in your dad's car, it's probably because the biting point is in a different place than what you're used to. Once you drive it more, you won't stall.
Sorry, but unless you like starting downhill or something where you're already rolling, when would second gear ever be ideal for moving off?
In snow or ice.
Some cars have very torquey 1st gears too where you may actually be better off starting in 2nd gear and staying in it until you get up to speed to save yourself time shifting.
The GAS? Have you had a conversion from petrol?
Not that I'm aware of
Is it okay to start moving in second when it’s snowing?
Definitely.
floor and dump
My car not responding for a little bit when i put the gas in 1st gear, there is an initial lag. Why is that ?
My car does the same. It might just be the way it was designed.
I searched for it on internet and found that it may be problem related to air filter or accelerator sensor or catalytic converter.
What’s a biting point?
Man like Giggs 🔥
My second giggs on Facebook. I’ve made it 😁
Is this something u should teach someone who already know how to move off?
I suppose those people have never drived carburettor car 😂
Yes this is for someone who already knows how to move off comfortably. 😃
Hi. Is that an ecosport?
Yes it is. How can you tell?
@@ZONDOdriving exactly same dash lol. Our car is similar year but we got the automatic Titanium trim.
When I’m in gear 2 and I slow down a bit and downshift to gear 1, the car is on the high side of the speed and revs for that gear so around 11mph. And when I bring the clutch up there is a of a jerk. How i avoid that is by braking until around 6/7mph then fully coming off the clutch. But my instructor said you can downshift and come off the clutch even if you are on the high side so still around 10/11mph and slowly, smoothly come off. Is this correct and will that prevent the jerk?
Down shifting to first will always be jerky bcus it’s a gear that isn’t designed to downshift into
@@Amir.253 Why? But even then there is a way to make the transition smooth
@@marco7838 is there really any reason to go down to first though when second can be used when your rolling
@@Amir.253 yeah, when you aproach an intersection with low visibility on an incline and you have to give way. That way you can slowly creep up and see if you can go without your car stalling or you having to stop (unless there are cars coming and you have to stop anyway of course)
@@marco7838when ur in first ur either stopping or starting to go again. don’t downshift just clutch in and brake
So the more gas you give does your biting point get bigger if that’s makes sense? Like what happens to it 😭😂 or dose it stay the same but you can use more of it while still keeping it smooth? Hopefully this makes sense haha
Well the biting point should stay at the same position, except that more gas equals more power, more torque and lower risks of stalling. That is the reason why in petrol cars most of the time you need to use some gas to go, but in diesel cars you can easily go by just bringing the clutch up, since there is more torque available on idle.
@@LogRol okay so if I want to move of quick if I’m on like a busy roundabout or junction I just add a bit more gas and bring the clutch up to the bite more or?
Guessing up to the prime point of the bite as I’m guessing if you just bring the clutch up to it’s at the start of the bite it’s not going to move of as quick
@@dannyh_fitness Yeah something like that. That was how it was shown on the video. Be careful though, if you add too much gas your tires may spin out as well. I think you should practice it somewhere not that busy obviously if you have a license and find out what works the best for you.

lots? when i wanna be fast i just get it to 3k and shift at 6k rpm
You don't think 6k is lots?
Holding the clutch down on the red light...it will ruin the engine pretty fast.
Yeah it's not ideal, but the actual engine doesn't care, it's just idling away as it would in neutral. Parts of the clutch system like the clutch bearing are what is being worn.
You should never sit in gear and on the clutch and brake pedal. You have not secured the car. A rear end shunt and you are easily pushed into the flow of traffic, plus you are blinding the person behind with your stop lights. Handbrake and neutral, relax whilst observing your surroundings in preparation for moving away. And you’re an ADI?
My old instructor said to do it your way, my newer instructor said that your way is the "old fashioned way" and just sit on your clutch and brake when in traffic. I plan to do it his way while in lessons with him just to keep him off my back and go back to putting the handbrake on when I get my car
