    What's your favourite way to make a reusable gift bag?

    This method looks so easy! I’m eager to try this, because I certainly have lots of fabric to use for these. (Don’t we all?) Thank you so much for this tutorial.

    Stumbled upon your CZcams when I was trying to find gift bag ideas that were an upgrade from the sack style. This is the perfect solution. I “whipped” up a bunch using odds and ends from my stash. Thank you!

    What a neat idea!! Thanks so much for sharing! For the casing .. in order to reduce some steps .. it would also be easier to just iron quarter of an inch on both sides (top & bottom) & directly sew it on to the bag (instead of making an entire casing first, then sewing it on)

    • @ScrapFabricLove
      @ScrapFabricLove  Před 2 lety +1

      Thanks! I guess different people find different things easier! I sewed the casing together to avoid ironing like that 😂 I find it a bit fiddly. Different strokes for different folks as they say! Use whatever makes it faster for you!

    Great, easy way to make a drawstring bag. Especially for a beginner project. You could do french seams to hide the raw edges. You could also hand stitch a couple of stitches or machine stitch the drawstring at the mid-point in the casing. This would prevent the drawstring from being pulled out. The single piece of fabric and the single piece of casing on the outside is a great way of doing it and the extra drawstring makes a nice bow. Thanks for the tutorial.

  • @golfergirl8123
    @golfergirl8123 Před rokem +4

    This is 100% easier than sewing the drawstring slot into the fabric. I have been looking for something to give me that ruffle at the top with an easier draw slot. Love this and I'm going to try it. I started using fabric reusable bags for advent calendars. Now, it makes so much more sense to use it for everything! I'm taking the extra time and fabric to make mine lined in hoping it lasts longer. I'm not sure it matters at this point. Thank you so much for sharing. I'm so glad I happened across this video!

    I have watched many video's, hunted and purchased patterns, and your video was the easiest to follow and I love the easy to follow steps. I only messed up once on my end, but that was due to me misunderstanding. But, it still worked out and the bag turned out so cute. I came up with this same idea just before Christmas, cause I wanted to stop spending money on paper, boxes and tissue and then storing it.

    Love this! I’ve made a lot of gift bags over the years, but this would be so much easier. You might consider investing in a bodkin..kind of like latching tweasers. It makes pulling the ribbon through so much faster. Also, I have added jingle bells to the end of the ribbons just because I like jingle bells 😊

      @@ScrapFabricLove Kristen, I haven't had much success with applique, I don't control the pieces, I go along the edge, then run on the outside, then the inside. I'm just not able to control and keep the stitches right on the edge. If I practice more, I know it'll get better. I decided to take the easy way out with the corner triangle because I don't want to struggle with the pieces on a daily basis.

      @@NolaTheAlamoChiliQueen ok gotcha! Thanks for replying to that. I really do love your triangle alternative- I think it will look brilliant. I’ll keep in mind what you said though when thinking about how I explain similar projects. You might prefer just quilting on your appliqué after using some fusible instead of doing it at the piecing stage. I’ve got a project in mind that is a bit like that for after the new year.
