    They can't get rid of the animals because of a law in Ontario saying they can no longer transport or transfer or buy whales dolphins. Whoever bought it has to keep the belugas until they die and look after them

    • @hawaiianpony
      @hawaiianpony Před 5 dny

      Not true. Helen at VanAqua was moved on welfare permit to San Antonio, and 5 belugas from MLC were moved to Mystic just a couple years ago. If new ownership no longer wants the remaining animals, they will be sent to other facilities, likely between SeaWorld's parks, Georgia Aquarium, Shedd, Mystic and possibly parks in China. The bill does not prevent welfare moves at all.

    Marineland can use a complete overhaul. Get every flat ride, gentle and thrilling (carousel, swinging ship, top spin, enterprise, miniature car rides, log flume, scrambler, dodgem cars, Ferris wheel, observation tower, dark ride, motion simulators, top spins, magic carpet, snow cups) in the park. Get every roller coaster type ride (Looping, Hyper Coaster, Giga Coaster, Wooden, Inverted, Floorless, Flying, Dive, and Wing Coaster), even if it's not record breaking. Sky lift, Monorail, Miniature Train around the park to get from end to another. Put in a water park with a lot of water rides. Several hotels and resorts on the property. Offer different types of food and drinks you can't find anywhere else from BBQ, ice creams, burgers and sandwiches, fries, hot dogs, Italian, German, Mexican, Chinese, and Japanese type food. Souvenir hats, t-shirts, balloons, sunglasses, ATMs, and first aid rooms all over the park. Theming from the past, the future, the wild west, and from other countries themes. Keep on adding more over time, and Marineland can be a big moneymaker.

      I agree Marineland has both the land and the location to be a great park. It ultimately comes down to whoever bought the park to decide how much they want to invest into it. I hope the park has a bright future

      Great idea but your suggestion sounds very expensive very uncertain payback. I agree more rides and maybe copy SeaWorld where they converted to more an education center. But more rides and casino. The problem is rides can only operate in the summer. They need an income source in the off season. Maybe a concert center, a museum but really the only thing that can bring money is casino restaurant and hotel.

    I live in the Niagara Region, and yeah, Marineland needs a massive update. It also would be good to have another actual amusement park in the area because Canada's Wonderland is always so crowded. If I were them, I would retire the animals to a sanctuary where they could live out the rest of their lives in peace, and focus a lot more on rides. Maybe keep the "marine" theming for those rides to set them apart from Wonderland, and like you said, use its natural scenery to its advantage. Then, maybe they'll actually get people going to the park again aside from the protesters camped out front.

  • @MrSRArter
    @MrSRArter Před 28 dny +4

    It's hard to predict what its future will be until we know the new owner though I'd like to see the animals replaced with more rides and the park itself renamed to Niagara Theme Park.

    • @jonfreeman9682
      @jonfreeman9682 Před 18 dny +1

      I think they can make it work in a model similar to SeaWorld. They turned it into an aquarium and education center. But adding rides is the best way to attract customers like Wonderland. The other thing they can do is try to find a way to make money in the off season so you're not limited to just summer.

    Everyone loves Marineland! ...but seriously, as someone who lived in Niagara Falls for several years...Marineland is kind of out of the way and not in the tourism area. There are far more popular things on or near Clifton Hill, like the Table Rock center operated by the Niagara Parks Commission (they do a lot).

  • @mattrix4200
    @mattrix4200 Před 18 dny +2

    Marineland (like much of Niagara Falls) was once considered the best ''regional sources of entertainment'' to visit (akin to Centre Island). You could spend a day visitting for a relatively low cost and the whole family had a good time. Now that the world is a ''global village'', and we're more educated on the harms of keeping animals in captivity, Marineland is no longer filling the needs of society it once did. Like most people who had childhood visits to Marineland I'll miss it, but sometimes you gotta let go of the past to experience a better future. Let's hope they can develop this land into an entertainment centre that fills the needs for present and future generations to come. I'd say Canada desperately needs a new theme park, but I know how expensive and risky those investments are...so hopefully something that can be sustained will go in! (Doug Ford seems determined to find a new permanent home for the Ontario Science Centre which might add some ''legitimacy'' to the campy, overpriced entertainment options of Cliffton Hill).

  • @louisedumais6496

    the best bet would be to turn this park into an animal sanctuary as they have to keep these animals until they die, there is plenty of room for this. You can't have an amusement park with animals, the constant music and noise of screaming ect is not good for the animals and stresses them out, having said this the belugas are social creatures so people visiting them would help stimulate them as well as make revenue because these animals require specialized care and eat +++ daily, not to mention year round caregivers.

    Follow the Knoebels business model. Abolish the entrance fee immediately. Convert the rides to a ticket model, allowing people to just enjoy the park and decide how many times they want to pay for the thrill rides. Add a campground and RV park in that back area. Add nature trails in the back area. Add some park shelters and spaces that people can rent for events. Change the name to ANYTHING other than Marineland. Lastly, for the animals...team up with the people who are protesting. Allow them to decide if the animals should be cared for in a zoological capacity or if they should he removed. If they decide to remove the animals...let them.
    The attraction here is the natural setting and the two main rides. Embrace the nature. Diversify the reasons people might visit, and encourage people enjoy just being there instead of feeling trapped by the entrance fee.

    Okay, a couple of things: first, Marineland isn't a good theme park. I grew up in Niagara Falls (about fifteen minutes from Marineland) and enjoyed it when I was a kid but haven't enjoyed it since I was ten years old, in 1989. I did work there briefly, in my early twenties because it was an easy job to get, but didn't stay long (there are much better jobs to get). Contending that (to paraphrase) local kids could just as easily get their first job at Canada's Wonderland is not true; there's a two-hour drive between Niagara Falls and Canada's Wonderland. Crystal Beach used to be a good amusement park, but it's long gone, unfortunately
    Yes, the animals which can be released should be released; that's not all of them. Releasing some of the species wouldn't be safe), but all need to at least be rescued. The deer are in pitiful health from eating the pellets and ice cream cones the pellets are distributed in at the park -- the bears aren't in much better condition.
    As far as the distance between attractions at the park, why not add more attractions between the existing ones? There really isn't much to do at Marineland. If there are more things to do, it won't feel like patrons are just walking for hours. The greatest solution, in that regard, feels like discussing sale of Marineland to Ripley's (who already have an established, successful track record with aquariums as well as line-up attractions in Southern Ontario) or to Disney (who have the capitol to make something worthwhile out of a property the size of Marineland). I'm sure I wasn't the first to say any of this, but it feels worthwhile to say it all again. Marineland could be something good, but making it so won't come cheap.
    Uhm, why do you have footage of tigers in your video? There has never been any such thing at Marineland.

    Personally I Don't Think Marineland Is The Worst Park Ever But It Does Have It's Controversies.
    I Wish Someone Would Take Better Care of The Marine Animals.
    I Would Say If They Want To Keep Their Marine Life Shows I Would Say Change The Tank Water And Expand Them So The Don't Look So Trapped And With Added Transport Bay So The Marine Animals Used For The Shows Can Go To a Proper Sanctuary.
    And I Also Agree on The Water Themed Ride So It Doesn't Lose It's Aquatic Theming.
    I Would Say Focus on The Smaller Marine Animals Like The Jellyfish Display at Seaworld San Diego Instead of The Bigger Marine Animals Like The Orcas For Example.
    It Also Doesn't Help When Their Founder John Holer Passed Away.
    But Then Again Holer Should Known Better Then To Be Greedy.
    I Don't Know What Would Happen In Terms of Whats Happening To The Park Itself But I Hope It Makes Some Postive Changes.

    I wouldn't really make direct comparisons with Marineland and Canada's Wonderland when it comes working there or even visiting since the parks are a 2.5 hour drive away from each other; with them being in Niagara Falls and Vaughan (Greater Toronto Area) respectively. So if you're visiting from the opposite cities it would only be as an occasional daytrip, and very few people would be willing to make that kind of commute to work; especially when it's a minimum wage job.

      Rides alone won't be enough. They need more. Casino restaurant and hotel resort is the only sustainable income that's not limited to summer. Add a concert and convention hall and another great idea is to license a deal with Disney and universal and WB to build branded theme rides and exhibition and that will really bring in visitors. It's beneficial for Disney universal and WB as they don't have a presence in Canada. This is a huge opportunity.

    The dolphins and animals enclosed areas are large enough for them to swim, walk, run and enjoy the easy life. Marineland provides everything they need, food, water, shelter and love. In return don't you think the mammals and animals should provide something back in return like entertain us and the pleasure and joy for us to see them. There is nothing wrong with that. Humans always entertain because they get something back in return but animals and mammals shouldn't?, thats BS. The hard life for them is if they were in the wild hunting for their own food or be hunted and killed by other mammals or animals, or shot by hunters. If Marineland needs to correct some things if necessary, they should have the right and not close down. As for the animals who have died there, endless animals and people die all the time, it is not their fault.
