Hey I play against a friend that uses legacy defending and 6 defenders nearly impossible to score a goal. Any tips?
These vids are very educational. Because you keep it simple I have time to see what is going on at the buttons too.
I think many of us lose it at the simple things. I for sure am!
No one ever talks about but the hardest part of defending is player switching if you can player switch well you would automatically become a much much better defender
Unfortunately the game mechanic doesn't always cooperate when trying to switch players. I have tried every different method and have found none are fool proof. Contrary to popular opinion, I like button switching better than stick switching.
the worst part about switching is that. It will never switch to who you expect in tight situations. Sometimes button switching gives me a fullback when the clear logical choice is the center back. Why would I want to change to my left back when Mbappe is coming fullsteam at a cb that has his feet in cement regardless.
Supposedly if u master analog switching it works
ball relative setting helps (I think that's one of his tips)

I felt the same. Being over aggressive used to work great in previous titles but this year I was conceding 3+ goals per game, even in lower divisions. Jockeying makes a huge difference.

When Neal says do not bring the defender forward when running jockeying how do we move the left analog because I always push the defender forward with that or do we not touch the L analog at all when pressing L2 and R2 around the box and only use it when the opponent tries to dribble?
@@StellarSpectacles Try to keep the player in formation. You are using the left stick for movement but instead of constantly pushing towards the opponent, hold the player back and try to stick to his position in order to avoid creating a gap in your defense.

Thanks man, this was the best defending tutorial I ever seen. No pro player avanced stuff like all the rest. Finally a tutorial where the recreational player can do something whit instead off pushing 5 buttons a time and freak out. Keep up the good work

Damn, exactly the same bro! I scored many goals but conceded too much, didn't know I was defending so aggressively and that I opened up spaces in my defence for the opponent in that manner. This changed a lot
Unreal advice, was stuck in my stubborn ways of rushing out for the ball and breaking my defensive line, finally took some advice and i noticed the changes instantly, so much easier to defend now, thanks
I can't believe I've been playing FIFA for so many years and I got away all this time by barely using LT (jockey) at all. I found FIFA 23 to be much more unforgiving when it comes to bad defending and simply following this strategy has immediately decreased the conceded goal count. Thank you!

Great video as always Neal! Defending is all about mastering space, just like attacking. You need to predict opposition runs, cut out passing avenues and master pressing; it's easy in theory but hard to master and comes with experience and practice. Which is why IRL most kids just follow the player with the ball blindly lol
Wow, I am amazed. I was already pretty good at this game and at fifa 22 (my first fifa in a long time), but there was something in my gameplay I did wrong. I was kinda stuck in div 4 and I didn't know exactly what it was, but now I know I defended way too agressive. I thought that by pressing my opponent I would give him no space to pass or play the ball, but I actually opened up spaces in my back line for his through balls. I watched this video and I had to kinda get used to it, but I went from div 4 to div 2 in a single day. I concede way less goals and my counter attacks are even more powerful now. This means a lot to me, idk if you're gonna read this but thank you so much bro!

Thank you, this video popped in my feed I blazed through Div 6 without a loss, I watched it twice to see how you manage to defend, so I tried it out this week. The 1st game was a huge learning curve I did lose however, but I took the time to get well adjusted on how to use this technique as my brain was constantly trying to over right what I just learned and i wanted to keep pressing RB to press or double tap RB to start man marking runners. This really works and I defended so much better and conceded a lot less as well.
Yet to really get this defending hacks. I name of legacy and use buttons. Finding it difficult. Can you out me through pls

I’m still fairly new to FIFA and oh my word, I had no clue about sprint jockey and it completely instantly transformed my defence! Can’t believe how good it is! I was constantly getting outdribbled by everyone and their dog but now I’m like a brick wall! Thanks dude!
In a way you are probably at an advantage being new to the game because you will learn it as it is now, where all of us veteran FIFA players (my first FIFA was 02) have to get over legacy controls and movement, which really have changed in the last few editions. For me the last few fifa's have been the hardest because you get used to doing things certain way then when it changes it is that much harder. The games are almost now the opposite of older versions. It used to be better to be aggressive on defence, and attack with a slower more methodical build up. Now you need to back off on defence and counterattack the shit out of your opponent when on the ball.

New to the channel, pretty average at fifa but I suck at this fifa hence why searching into CZcams how to get better 😂, came across this video and kept a clean sheet in 3 consecutive games in div5, still getting to grips as I’ve always been an “aggressive” tackler in fifas so I still like to press circle but trying to just jockey and let the AI do the work, already noticing a massive difference so thank you. I'm getting destroyed by guys that get the ball on the edge of the box and spam skill moves and quick passes. I try what you say to do but the skill move always beat the defender or the quick passing makes me switch to the wrong players. Not having fun with the game.

practice in rivals, TRUST YOURSELF, if you lose dont matter, reach the milestone you wont get relegated, think of it that way, trust yourself dont flap, but glide like a bird, hold your position like you part of the Macedonian Phalanx

I cut out pressing (b) tackle button and played with Lt more or holding Lt and art and n won 8 in a row..thank you my Lt b constant pressing was letting me be so open

I already defend like that, conceding 2 goals in the last 5 mins 😂 but seriously patience on both sides of the ball is my big problem, rush passes and then dive in and concede. Will definitely just slow it down a bit especially defending
Use possession as your tactic, it will definitely force you to play slow.

The biggest issue in my defence is that when I switch to track through balls the ai makes lousy movements away from the ball and by the time i pathfind it's too late.
