i know someone who had a really wild time playing a drinking game expecting the UK to do bad as usual LOL
We did shots every time the UK got over 3 points
Messy
We had to down our drink everytime the UK was given 12 points 💀💀
🤣🤣🤣🤣
My friends and I did a drink everytime the U.K. got 12, 10, or 8 points. We were bamboozled this year.
How did you even find that video???? I can’t find it. Link???
I just read today that Sam is now going to be one of the performers at the Queens Platinum jubilee at Buckingham Palace. Celebrating Queen Elizabeth's 70th year as Queen. Way to go Sam!
Oh man that is wild. That's next level success. Like Brian May on the roof for the 60th.
When you blow away a voice coach
It was a great performance
He was awesome tonight at The Palace! ❤
Yeah and he performed this even better at the jubilee I thought. So amazing
Sam deserves a pride of Britain award honestly. He not only did incredibly on the night, but he’s also changed the UK's outlook on the ESC. Love him 🇬🇧👨🚀
His hometown have had a beer 🍺 brewed in his honour it's called Sam's Town.
He deserves a knighthood.
I and everyone else in the UK were just in complete shock when the votes came in (because the UK haven’t done well in Eurovision in years) 😂 Sam more than deserves this success. I hope he has an amazing career ahead of him.
I was cheering for getting 4 points from the first country 😂
They didn't take it seriously by sending joke acts previously then playing the poor me card
I was not in shock. First time I heard the damn song I thought, "hell... we've actually done it right for once". Not just the best Eurovision song we've had in years, but the best Eurovision song full stop in years. It's like Freddie Mercury's voice wrapped up in a whole barrel of energy and light.
Not even joking.
The first 3 or 4 times they got 12 points and the cameras were on them they were chanting "we got points", I found that completely hillarious
The ones that followed Sam before or during the Eurovision season knew he was more than capable of delivering a great result. It was the locals who didn’t believe it whatsoever “eVeRyoNe hAtEs Us 0 pOiNtS”
Not technically a Eurovison contestant, but Mika (he was a host this year) did an AMAZING interval act, I would love to see a reaction to that! ❤️
Yes, please.
Lowkey I had to recheck his albums entirely. I loved listening to Relax as a child-teen and hope he makes even more music in the future. He's so talented.
oh yes yes yes
Love mika!!!!! But I think he mimed most of that interval act sadly 😔
I'm pretty sure it was a plsyback
I’m from the UK and the song has been on the radio since it’s release, before Eurovision. It looks like he’s going to top the UK charts, maybe even number one this week!
It's only being kept off No. 1 by As It Was which is a HUGE hit song worldwide so he is very close to that
@@elltell1990 if harry didn't drop the album it would be 1 but I'm a massive harry fan so I can't complain hazza deserves it
I don't use use tiktok so Eurovision was actually the first time I heard Sam's voice and now I'm obsessed. Just bought tickets to go see him on tour and I can't wait, he's so good.
I'm so jealous! I'm here in the US. I use TIkTok (much to my kids horror who tell me I'm "too old" for TIkTok - LOL!) but still hadn't managed to run across him, but I subscribe now. :-)
….he made me get a TikTok.
Yes loved this! Spain next please🙏🙏
i'm in the UK and its been on the radio for a few weeks! when i first heard it i really liked it and i was so surprised when i realised it was for eurovision bc usually the UK entries are garbage lmaoo
also "get in" is a british phrase and guys kinda say it to mean like 'good job' or like when youre happy about something. GET IN LAD!!
oh cool! I wasn't expecting to learn any British phrases today. 🙂
There’s also stuff like wag wan, which means what’s going on; there’s absolutely pissed which mean very drunk
He was one of the best singers we have ever seen on Eurovision and also one of the few who had a song allowing him to show his range. It's clear he will have a spectacular career
The song is currently number one on our iTunes Charts! Sam really did us proud.
Cool song, the winner for me. I'm from Ukraine.
@@vadymvv Thank you for your twelve points. Congratulations on your win. All the best in your current sad circumstances. The UK is always there to help out, always.
You should react to Suadade Suadade, the Portuguese entry,by Maro, she has such an interesting vocal tone, and the harmonies on the song were so special. It's a great song, but not as flashy as some of the other entries.
It’s Saudade, not Suadade
@@kylechen5054 thanks. While I don't speak Portuguese, I understand some. I speak English, Afrikaans, and Mandarin, so I apologize for my misspelling.
@@djoharia6513 no worries it’s alright 😅
An absolutely beautiful song, it was my favourite after the UK. Also enjoyed Iceland and hollands.
Yes! Its a very mellow sounding song and I don't think that tends to do well at Eurovision, but it was beautiful. I found a video she did with Salvador Sobral (ESC winner from Portugal in 2017) *just* acting odd while the song played. LOL! I don't know if all ESC fans know he has quite a sense of humor. 🙂
UK has won Eurovision 5 times: 1967, 1969, 1976, 1981 and 1997. We have come 2nd 16 times including Sam Ryder who got our 16th 2nd place.
came here to say this. like i enjoy your videos but please google 😂
Me too, thanks for calling that out, deeply frustrating to hear that when we’ve actually been very successful, just not recently!
Sam Ryder is the same surprise this year as Maneskin last year on the Eurovision competition for me. I'm already his fan! His voice and interpretation are really impressive...
Loved loved this preformance, the song, the energy. Just everything. And I think it really shows, the uk has come so far from last year lol
I hope you'll react to Spain's song! I was amazed at the performer's vocal power and dancing. in my opinion, she deserved to win even if the song itself wasn't exactly my cup of tea. I have rarely seen someone do both of those things at the same time and at that level. I say this despite being a fan of musicals (and former performer lol) where that's what is expected.
I may be wrong, but I read somewhere that Chanel has performed in musicals, so that would explain why she absolutely rocked it.
She is an actress for both musicals and tv shows, and now she gets to do music too because she's vocally clean, especially when singing and dancing at the same time with an 8kg jacket on top of her.
@@JcrCuler The Eurovision song was actually her first pop single! She's a musical theater performer and she was even in the final 5 selection of Steven Spielberg's West Side Story for the role of Anita (which ended up winning an Oscar by the amazing DeBose).
Chanel is the only one that will continue being a star out of all the performers this year. I'm obsessed with her.
Chanel has now distanced herself from all the nonsense about "Spain should have come second" and Spain's Eurovision committee putting stories in the press that the UK only came second due to fabricated votes (have they forgotten 1968 or are they just far too young to know about it and are therefore not concerned about that farce being resurrected?).
I didn't like the Spanish song (a typical "I'm just going to show and shake my butt" Latino clitlip and dyck tingling toot track that had been rejected by Jennifer Lopez, Ariana Grande and Camila Cabello before being put forward for Eurovision) and I absolutely loathed her cheap and insulting to women performance but fair play to her for having the good grace that the Spanish Eurovision Committee (she isn't Spanish, so no surprise) clearly does not have.
@@CandleLight1974 I sorry that you feel so insecure that you have to put down women who look and feel sexy.
And Britney is probably fake to you for singing Toxic after Kylie passed on it. And Rihanna is fake because she sang Umbrella after Britney passed on it...
Get a grip.
I can confirm this has been on UK radios and loving it!
React to chanel's "slomo" performance in Eurovision 2022 and to Alexa's "Wonderland" performance in American song contest (she was the winner)
Please react to the performance of the Netherlands. S10 is only 21 and she has an amazing voice. We were all so proud of her!
Okee Dorien van de buurt
Yeah we’ve already heard this on the radio a bit here in the uk and won’t be surprised if we start hearing it more in the next couple weeks. So happy for Sam Ryder, it’s a great song with even better vocals and he’s also just such a genuine guy!
Please react to Spain! She is a STAR!!
Chanel is not a star. She is a musical theatre actress. Unfortunately, it's only Sam who people in the industry and viewers and listeners are saying "birth of a superstar" about.
Chanel has now distanced herself from all the nonsense about "Spain should have come second" and Spain's Eurovision committee putting fake stories in the press that the UK only came second due to fabricated votes (have they forgotten 1968 or are they just far too young to know about it and are therefore not concerned about that farce being resurrected?).
I didn't like the Spanish song (a typical "I'm just going to show and shake my butt" Latino clitlip and dyck tingling toot track that had been rejected by Jennifer Lopez, Ariana Grande and Camila Cabello before being put forward for Eurovision) and I absolutely loathed her cheap and insulting to women (and insulting to Chanel herself as a good and seasoned singer and actress) performance but fair play to her for having the good grace that the Spanish Eurovision Committee (she isn't Spanish, so it's no surprise) clearly does not have.
Chanel was promised that she would become "the next big Latino star" if she took part in this contest. Now, not only has that not materialised but the poor girl has been dragged into the Spanish being bitter losers. Is it any wonder that she's angry and doesn't want to know any more?
@@CandleLight1974 You do realize your comment is full of bitterness and misogyny right? A lot of people enjoy her song and her performance and I personally find her owning her sexuality as a woman very empowering. But if you wanna stay bitter and hateful go find somewhere else because this is not the place.
@@CandleLight1974 Go back to the cave and keep listening to the out of tune notes of Sam trying to sound like Freddy or Elton, unoriginal songs heard millions of times.
@@CandleLight1974
Sam's "Spaceman" performance wad great, the song rocks with that guitar, but you don't have to put down Chanel, she did it great and put a show, dancing and singing worth of a súper star. A powerful woman, very humble that had a close and sympathetic relation with Sam those days in Turin.
Let's enjoy music and art and put aside all those sexist coments. 40 years ago they would be talking about the blonde long hair of Sam, making jokes about his look, sexuality and so.
I think it was one of the greatest Eurovisión contest in many years.
I knew he was gonna do well when he got to the final burst of energy, that one moment was enough for him to win it with the roof being blown off (literally expressed with the star-like space ship structure designed by Sam being pushed down and changing colour). Then, we get ANOTHER winning moment when he gets out the guitar and the part of the song not on the studio recording starts, which surprises SO many people and appealing to various other tastes in music, like the British rock scene! Everything from the staging, vocals and lighting was on point!
His voice is incredible. One of the best male tenor voices I've ever heard!
Can you react to the Spanish performance as well?? I loved it but would like a review from you to learn more about the technical parts!
Same!
PLEEEAAASSE
I'd be curious to hear if Tristan found much of anything in her singing that was remarkable. She can sing of course, but she wasn't given a song that let her do much with her voice, she even had to add a run in at the end to really get to do much of anything. (I absolutely hated the lyrics, but I'm probably just old). Chanel is so sweet - she was one of the most sociable, most fun contestants for sure! I'm looking forward to her next projects, I want to love a song she does.
@@aekelly i agree. Maybe he can talk about how to breath while singing and dancing, that could be interesting
@@snake1987666 Naw, if she'd sang anything better than average maybe, but her singing was pretty run of the mill. And the lyrics were embarrassing. And she's a talented dancer but some of her moves were so cringe - especially the ones meant to accentuate her backside - that she didn't bother to cover! 🤣😅😂
I loved this performance. He was like a mix of Phil Collins and Freddie Mercury. Loved it.
He made me think of Freddie, yeah. And that’s like, the highest praise I could give a pop/rock singer.
Love this guy so much. ESC became a happier place this year for having him there. Such a free spirit, full of positivity for everything he does and everyone he meets loves him. He co- wrote the song a while back and kept it for something special. He has the craziest range but manages to hit every note with very clear diction. The UK loves him!!!! ❤️🇬🇧
You should check out MARO (from Portugal)!! I think her song was very simple, and yet it didn't take away any of the feeling behind it! And those harmonies are to die for!
TRISTAN????!!?? I really really hope a reaction to Sweden also is coming😜😆🤭 she was amazing
Yessssssss
YES YES YES YES YES! I adore Cornelia's voice and that song is just so beautiful! My favorite discovery this year by far!
Oh my godddd I didn't realize he's the same Sam Ryder I've been watching singing cover songs in CZcams Short!! Oh my god!! I thought he was American in those short videos 😭🤣🤣
The winning country gets to host the next ESC, so Måneskin won it last year, so it was hosted in Turin, Italy this year. Hopefully Ukraine will be able to host it in 2023.
Won't be able to host in a war torn country.
It'll most likely be Ukrainian hosts but the contest being set in another country. Very possibly the UK because of their second place and being part of the big 5
@@BabyDweet51 realistically you’re right, I’m just trying to be optimistic
Yes because the people of Ukraine want most the money going towards rebuilding and re-supplying to instead go towards a song contest. And as Ukraine didnt win with their song, either Spain or the uk deserves to host.
Please, review the representant of Poland, his performence was so great and technical and he doesnt get enough recognition for it!
Definitely! The best voice on this year's Eurovision
I thought Poland’s entry was fantastic, I definitely think it should have come higher, it was in my top 5 not that that means anything but I loved it
Yes, I really liked him! He actually grew up a few towns over from me here in the U.S. There were a lot of great songs this year, I thought. I loved a lot of them, at least liked most of them, and only totally disliked one!
@@Eminialetta Well, ........ not, ........ that was Sam (I mean if the UK had resurrected Freddie Mercury and put him up there, he couldn't have sung or performed better than Sam did), but Ochmann has an amazing voice and it was such a beautiful song.
@@rhi393 It should have and it came as high as it did due to the public votes for it but it suffered in the jury votes because of the "five countries all voting for each other" in the second semi-final that led to their juries' votes being deducted in the second semi-final and being replaced by analytic votes. Poland should not have got involved in that as it had a good enough song and more than good enough singer to qualify for the final without manufacturing a vote but the juries punished it in the final for doing so. That said, it did also have the misfortune of having been drawn to perform in the final in the cluster of big voices and performances that were the UK, Poland, Sweden and Australia.
His range, tone and just all round good human vibes are 💯! You can feel how much he loves to sing, makes it so enjoyable!
1. America has the American song contest brought to you by the ESC, hosted by Kelly Clarkson and Snoop Dogg.
2. If you would like to see (or maybe react to 👀) Israel’s entrant for 2021. She had the highest note ever performed at the ESC and she absolutely smashed it. The camera also pans to her as she performs it.
I love the way you talk about the concept of the whole show as a presentation of art.
You let me rethink the whole concept! (I'm european and always felt like it's all about competition...) So thank you so much!
The UK had been doing so bad the past few years, I'm so glad his talent was recognized and he got ranked so high!
Absolutely agree Tristan. I was saying right thru Saturday nite "As long as there's power and crispness with Sam and he doesn't shriek, he should be fine". And then he came out and DESTROYED The song ... Absolutely perfect in front of 185million worldwide. Have been watching all week and only more and more impressed - should be number 1 here Sunday - he deserves every single minute.
Plus his humility in missing out to Ukraine as the winners was really touching - was looking forward to getting my tickets for the 02 next May.
That's the standard , now we stick to it.
the fact that the crowd sang along too shows how well we did, i was so proud of him when the votes came in
I heard the song today on the radio!! And I am from the Netherlands!
The UK last won Eurovision in 1997, but has also won 4 times before that! It’s just this century we haven’t won any
thank you - I was just about to Google because I KNEW the UK won several times. Katrina and the Waves had a hit here in the U.S. when I was in high school!
He is doing the Jubilee concert, that's gonna be fab 🌟
Sam Ryder got everyone (as far as I know) in the U.K. so proud. Obviously I’m not disputing Ukraine winning, because their song was lovely but the U.K. has not done so well for a long long long long time and honestly I was hyped when I heard his song. And we haven’t won for 25 years but at least Sam Ryder won our hearts 😂
Yes! I have to admit, at first I was wishing he didn't go up to that falsetto with "up in space, man!" quite so many times, but by the contest day I was fully into it! 🙂
@@aekelly you need to have a good falsetto for Eurovision. lol
no but seriously, this is a good song. I hope the UK continues to take Eurovision seriously from now on, Sam was such an awesome choice
@@anyadaz yes! He's a fabulous singer and performer, but he's also just so kind and friendly - a great ambassador for Eurovision. I thought the same of Maneskin - sweet kids.
will you react to ochman's river as well?? this guy has vocals on point too,,👀
Hearing the crowd sing and cheer is just amazing 😊
Yeah you're right Tristan, been playing here on the radio for a while, both before and after eurovision!
you should react to Cornelia jakobs with hold me closer (Eurovision 2022 Sweden) her voice is incredible!!
Yesssssss
Agree and sam and cornelia signing each others songs together was beautiful 😍
@@MP-jy5ic Trueeee
i wasn’t even sad when we came second as ukraine obvs deserved it and this was the best performance we’ve ever had and that’s what made it so special.
i was so nervous watching the results lol, feels strange to actually root for my own country and it having a chance to win
The Ukraine didn't deserve any more than Rose Ayling Ellis deserved to win Strictly. At best, the Ukraine would have made top ten without the current situation (and Rose would have made the final of Strictly) but a sympathy vote will always win.
No we deserved to win.
Last time we won was in 1997, the second I heard this I was just amazed by such a talented man with incredible range. What a performance, opened him up to a whole new audience hopefully.
I’m obsessed!!!!! Watched this so many times now! Thx for introducing him to me
we definitely need more eurovision reactions! ♥
Please react to “River”, Poland’s entry. I’m extremely curious about his technique since it’s quite unusual to mix opera (I guess?) with pop, melancholy music.
i’d love for u to react to spain’s performance! as a dancer i know how difficult is to sing and dance at the same time and i loved that she payed attention to the choreography!
This performance was absolutely incredible!!
SPAIN PLEASEEEEEE!!!!!!!
That man has one of the best voices ever vocalized.
So early!! He was honestly amazing not even that, but he's got our nation backing him. Somewhere Eurovision has been considered a joke for a long long time! He's insane! Great song, Great Voice, Great UK representative, Great Man!
was an amazing performance so glad to see the uk do well! love your reactions wpuld love to see you react to the rest of adeles one night only performances will you be continuing?
I am a brit, and I love eurovision and have been a fan of Sam for a while, and let me tell you I was crying watching it his performance was just perfection, and he actually scored so friggin well which we never do. The song is everywhere but thats just because its an incredible song and his vocals are just out of this world. He made us all proud ^-^
He is absolutely brilliant!
Wasn't he absolutely superb..and such a lovely man too!! Good things lie ahead for him if there's any justice! 🥰
The UK is one of the all-time most successful countries at Eurovision with now 16 second places and 5 wins (all bar one of those happening last millennia)
Youre right about the stage presence, he was one of ony a couple of performers that I was transfixed on all the way through. Definitely a superstar of the future. BTW this week it's at No2 in The UK charts. Way to go Sam.
12 months after & this song just doesn't get boring - what incredible vocals Mr Ryder has!!! just WOW WOW WOW - EVERYTIMEEEEEE!
Spain 🇪🇦
I think its amazing how social media influencers that have this talent can go far and wide with it. KSI was the first example of that for me. Walked into a shop the other day and he was on the radio, feels like yesterday I was watching videos of him in his bedroom.
This Sam Ryder chap has a killer voice, deserves to be where he is!
I was L I V I N G for his success this year. Single-handedly reviving Eurovision as an institution for the UK public
"What even is this?"... I was hoping you could tell me since you're the vocal coach. 🤣
He is amazing 🤗
Hey Tristan, Please also react to Chanel's Slomo performance. Thank you!
[Edited: I corrected the name of the song]
Excellent reaction, intelligently and interestingly done.
please react to belgium! he was SO underrated - honestly you’ll love it!
Agreed! One of the few songs that made it to my playlist after the show.
Going to see him at a smallish venue in Munich in October. Can't wait.
It's not just on the radio in the UK also in Germany it's played on a couple of radio station.
Love u From Italy❤️🇮🇹
I'm from the UK and yes i love it and will be playing it for a while :D
"Get in" is such an English expression 😂 think it comes from sport, probably football. You hear "get in, my son" a lot when England play 😂 Sam did amazingly. Won the judges vote. Huge fan of his prior to EV, he deserves every success 🙌🏼
When I watched this performance this year I stopped breathing. It was such a good song to perform and we done so well coming 2nd
Mate, his debut album released a few weeks ago has gone straight to #1 in the UK! ❤️
He performed at the Queen's Platinum Jubilee, he's toured all over the UK and Europe and he performed at the Royal Variety Performance at the recording on the 1st December shown on UK TV the other night. Sam is a star and we love him. His debut album, "There's Nothing But Space Man" went straight to #1. ❤️
I've a feeling you'll be hearing a lot more from Sam Ryder! ❤️
He has only an hour and a half to beat Harry in the charts, I don't know if he can but if he does it will be the first time a UK (or any country for that matter) Eurovision entry to top the UK charts since Gina G in the mid 90s!
Trust me it's been playing on the radio here ❤
*UPDATE!* HE GOT NUMBER 2 IN THE CHARTS AS WELL, WHICH IS STILL AMAZING ❤
@@emmybm15 ah shame. I think Sam is more original than HS
(In my opinion) HS rips off Bowie, Jagger, the Maccabees etc etc.
I totally agree with you about the bizarre camera work. Unfortunately it was a common theme with this year’s Eurovision. Certainly not the most technically sound Eurovision, especially compared to recent years… in other news, thanks for a great review of a great song and performance!
that is the classiest criticism of Italy's production of the show I've heard. 💕 I understand why people are so upset about it, but some of it has been just so over-the-top mean...its nice to hear honest criticism that doesn't get irate.😏
I feel like the panning out was just so they can hide when he is getting his guitar on him to the TV audience to make it look better to the eyes and keep it flowing
would love to hear you react to sweden’s entry! she was in 2nd place after the jury votes! Then dropped down to 4th, which was soo dissapointing lmao
Poland next please
Would like to hear your thoughts on Sweden and Serbia. Both very cool in different ways.
Oh my God, yes!!! THIS!!! I should probably post this as another comment so he sees more requests for these but I just had to express my happiness to see yours! I LOVED Cornelia and her song SO SO MUCH! (To be on-topic of this post, I loved watching her and Sam duet with each other on each other's songs!!) And Serbia, oh my gosh! Its not the kind of song I usually go for (not proud to admit I don't listen to TONS of songs that aren't in English)....but the song itself and the story behind it drew me in, and her performance was SO good. The beat of the chorus was just EPIC in the stadium with everyone clapping along!
Love this song!! Sam's voice is amazing and I really enjoy listening to him sing. Love your channel💗👍🎵
This is my go to song, I listen to it atleast 5 times
This gets a-lot of Radio play here in the UK! Radio 1 are a little biased! Currently trying to get him to number 1!!!
Sam was amazing! I hope you can react to the rest of the top 5 (Spain, Sweden and Serbia) because all of them are incredible!
I was so proud of him! Sam really represented us fabulously. Hoping he gets plenty of support from my fellow Brits, was a great contest this year.
When you mentioned the range of his voice I imediatly thought about Robert Plant ❤️
this song has been playing on the radio in the Uk for weeeeeeks before eurovision
I like the way you think about art and artists, in my opinion you are right.
You should definitely react to Portugals song this year, just amazing vocals!
yes im from the uk and its been all over the radio. its #2 on the charts after As It Was
YES to your point about the cinematography sometimes used on talent shows when singers hit big notes - it diminishes its impact ever so slightly, and it’s soooo frustrating
Wish him all the best and from what I’ve seen is a lovely genuine guy👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👍🇬🇧💃🏻
He's such a good guy
Hi Tristan, I loved your video as always 😁 Could you react to Switzerland ? I think the singer has such an interesting and beautiful voice 😊
I think it's more amazing that he had never had a vocal coach until a few weeks before Eurovision, there's an Eurovision Backstage where he mentions it and his vocal coach is there as well :)
In the run up to the contest I heard this song on the teeny bop channel a few times which trust did not happen with James Newman last year. Sam said that being a wedding singer helped him to work on his technique as no one was really paying attention to him.
It’s on the radio everyday over here in the UK 🇬🇧 so you was right
What did you think of Portugal's entry? I've replayed that song a bunch of times since Eurovision.
