I loved that game. The only things I didn't like about it was the way they handled the bros attacks. In my opinion.

Drew, I can see why. The bosses and theme are pretty good, and have you heard the music? But the bros are just modified items, and they also, my least favorite bit, require a lot of button mashing, ex. literally every flower in the game.

And here I am, having a savefile with over 100 hours gametime...
When I was young, I took YEARS to finish the game because I was stuck on that barrel minigame.
The interesting thing from what I have observed over my playtime on each game in the Mario & Luigi series is that it's consistently about 20 hours for my first save file. (Beating the game) The only two exceptions so far for me were Partners in Time (only 18 hours) and Dream Team (25 hours)
@Tom S. My 100 hour save file is me as a kid being stupid.
Skipped every enemy I could, didn't realize I can choose the bonus when I got a level up (So I only put it in the default, which is HP).
Nearly every boss took a few hours, even days to beat until I pretty much knew the attacks perfectly.
I also really wanted to have the best price from that surfing minigame, and that game is effing hard...
That is because of something called Jokes’ End!
@@ancientshiv9837 Ugh, I've beaten this game at least 5 times, and love amost all of it, except the frozen shithole known as Jokes End. The music, enemies, and enviroments, ugh.
9:16 to anyone who hasn't played this game yet, one thing that should be mentioned is that putting the Bonus Points into the same Stat every time isn't actually as good of an Idea as it seems, because if you keep increasing the same Stat multiple times in a row, the game starts rigging the roll to only give you small numbers like +1 or +2.
You're supposed to keep spreading the Bonuses around, because if do, they keep increasing as you go, raising to +3, +4, and so on, which more than offsets not putting points into the same one *every* time.

For attack that doesnt really matter.
While it is true you mostly only get +1 or +2 after rolling the same stat three times in a row, your attack gets ridiciulous even with just a +1, making the other stats (outside of speed) pretty much useless.
If you battle every enemy you find in a place and later on use the item E. Gadd gives you (the item that doubles your Exp when you beat an enemy without taking damage), your attack is crazy, making every other stat useless.
@@TMG-Germany My point was that you can reach close-enough-to, if not pretty much just as high Attack to be just as overpowered without leaving everything else needlessly underdeveloped, which can still matter for someone who may still make mistakes with their commands every now and then. It's why I specified "people who haven't played this yet" at the start.
Look, I'm not even saying "absolutely never do this", but simply that you can get better effects while still having the same result in the end.
@@TMG-Germany yea Luigi usually has much lower pow than mario to balance this I usually give him a ton of Stach so his critical chance will compensate the lower pow. and luigi has higher defense so this help him being tanky and do good damage

I still have so much nostalgia for this game and this game along with fire emblem is what got me into rpgs.

My very first RPG game as well. This was such an awesome game.
This & Bowser's Inside Story are my absolute favorite Mario & Luigi games, some of my favorite Mario games of all time & one of my favorite RPG games.

I love this series so much, and I'm glad your talking about it.
Luigi disguised as Peach pompously flapping a fan is the best thing ever.
As a kid I had a save file dedicated to that exact scene just because it was so perfect. The impression was so good that even I had no idea what was happening. The way Bowletta outted Luigi and the subsequent reaction was comedic timing at its finest (this series in general had excellent comedic timing, even if the jokes don't always land), and the entire scene was actually just the high point of the series.

As for the Mario Bros inclusion... Nintendo most likely was going for the whole concept of, "If you have one of our Mario GBA titles and your friends have other Mario GBA titles, you can all still have multiplayer gameplay, despite owning different titles."
Which is rather crazy smart when looked at that way, eh?
That falls apart when the multiplayer mode was exclusively Download Play, though. You only needed one person to own the game to play Mario Bros multiplayer.

On the GBA, it was with the Link Cable.
@@wariolandgoldpiramid There WAS download play, you only need one cartridge to play this game, the data is downloaded through the cable itself to the other GBAs.

One GBA (P1) has the game, while the other GBA(s) have nothing in the slot. The data gets downloaded from P1 to the other GBAs, and then you can play multiplayer.
It's not just the DS which had Download Play.

The segment where Luigi dresses up as Princess Peach might be one of the funniest video game moments of all time.

I'd reccommend alternating between attack and stache, a npc actually tells you that the more times you upgrade a stat in a row the lower the numbers in the roulette become, so instead of a +1 in attack you can throw a +5 in stache and another +5 in attack the next time
The GBA was really what made this game's soundtrack work as amazing as it did, honestly.
Also because Yoko Shimomura (also known for Kingdom Hearts) is a genius and arguably her cheery, energetic and peppy stuff is of even more quality than her grandiose, bombastic work.

@@dmas7749 A lot of battles in this game can end pretty quickly. Speed can make all the difference between each enemy attacking once and each attacking twice, which is a big difference proportionally. It can be a huge time save after a few dozen battles.
@@ethanhayes7038: i can't say that i've really messed with speed, but another thing RPGs do to make it more worthwhile is decide your actions before turn order starts...can't say i'm a fan of it, but everyone acts on their turn in SSS, making that advantage far less advantageous...
just making sure i heard you right, but having a high enough speed lets you take a second action, or having a very low speed lets enemies take it instead, right? if that's so it's better than i considered

This game is fantastic because it’s sprites gave us Super Mario Bros Z, which is one of the best sprite-based series ever.
Finally, someone brought that up! I was scared people forgot about it. But thank god, someone else remembered.
Real talk, that transition from the dance joke to keeping the music going in explaining the introduction is a really smooth transition. Really good job with that!
I actually really liked Bowser's Minions. You don't do a whole lot but there's a good deal of strategy that goes into team comp and it's satisfying to watch your guys yeet the enemy team out of existence. The protagonist, Captain Goomba actually goes through a really neat character arc too. I would totally recommend it myself.

It’s worth noting, AlphaDream were actually comprised of veterans who worked for Square Enix prior. The director of Superstar Saga is the same guy who directed Super Mario RPG.
Back when I played through it when I was 10 about a decade ago, I thought the part where Luigi dresses up as Peach was pretty cool.
This is my favourite game series ever so I’m very excited for him to cover every game, this brings back so many memories

This freaking game!! Still one of my favorites, and my gateway into RPGs as a whole. While Bowser's Inside Story is considered the best by many, I'm more partial to this one. If only because I prefer the idea of the brothers fighting using themselves instead of the usual items. I knew about the cut Nintendo characters during the coffee portion, but I was not aware they had actual sprites!! Now I really wish they were included.
I think you pointed out why I really enjoy the combat system in this game in comparision with the rest of the series tbh. You're actually fighting with the bros as opposed to using items.

The 1hp on the final boss isn't a problem if you spec into speed. I usually make Luigi spec into Attack, Defense, and Stache. And Mario into Hp, Bp, and Speed. So during the final boss Mario goes first and I use that turn to heal.
I have to say, you are now one of my favorite CZcamsrs. You are polite, tell good (and interesting) stories, and you're honest in your reviews. I like it. Keep up the great work, man.

This is one of the best written games ever published by Nintendo. I love Inside Story's dialogue but I still appreciate how much more "quirky" Superstar Saga's dialogue is in comparison. It's such a special game that makes me laugh by how ridiculous some of the situations Mario and Luigi get into. I still miss Alphadream alot but seeing the Mario and Luigi RPG series getting so much love makes me really happy as a fan. Now more people can tryout and play this amazing series thanks you Antdude.

Im so happy that i got this video in my recommended. This is literally my favorite mario series out of all of them, superstar saga being the first ive ever owned and beaten and to this day is my favorite mario game ever. So it makes me super happy that it is getting recognition
Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story | Cackletta Soul but Without Cackletta
Hope this means your gonna talk about the sequel "Vore the Game: Inside Bowsers Asshole"
I for one really loved the final Cackletta fight. The majority of the game has a brilliant relaxing difficulty, nothing that's so hard as to put you off of it, but nothing too easy either. The final world/area gives you a good taste of the difficulty to come, and the Bowletta fight, though disappointing, was a nice setup appetiser for the next thing.
Cackletta made me stuck as a child for several years, and yet I loved the spike in challenge. The difficulty really makes her feel like final boss material, and scalling that wall makes beating the game so much more satisfying than if she were as tough as any other boss.
Also, I kinda liked the Bowsers Minions mode. Yeah it's just you doing a whole lot of nothing, but if you play it in short bursts side by side with the adventure, it's a good pace breaker that let's you really sit back and relax. It's a nice way to kill a few hours that's for sure.
There is actually a reason to upgrade another stat than attack, and that stat is Speed. The reason is that if you get your speed high enough you can outspeed Cackletta's Soul during the final fight and heal, making it much easier to survive her first attacks.

The stat bonuses are valued AGAINST constantly just picking one. If you pick the same bonus frequently you'll only get 1-3 points; but if you spread it out bonuses will consistently be 3-5

I love the humor, the art style, gameplay and the Easter eggs.
Surprised there was no mention of the Bros. Moves and Advanced Moves mechanics. Very confusing to understand how the Bros. Points are spent (when I was a kid), but spending more points to slow things down to help you learn and perfect the timing is great. And it feels rewarding when you graduate to spending less points and doing the moves in real time.
And on top of that, graduating to Advance Moves that make the Bros. Moves crazier to use and are fun to master as well.

Two quite different games actually, pretty dumb to say one quite different game series is better than another quite different series.
Paper Mario is still a great game.
But Super Star Saga is clearly the better rpg, no debate.

Even worse was the removal of Boney Kong. THEY REPLACED HIM WITH A REGULAR DUDE AND DIDN'T EVEN CHANGE HIS DIALOGUE!!
Well actually geno is owned by square Enix now and so Nintendo couldn’t put him in because of that

Christopher Moon it’s not for no reason though, Square Enix owns the character but Nintendo does not which means that they had remove the Geno reference from the game.
This is my favorite Mario game and my third favorite game of all time! I absolutely loved this game!
This is one of my favorites, i love all the Mario and Luigi games but this one was my first and it has special place on my heart.
