  • Tottenham Hotspur head coach Ange Postecoglou has reminded Spurs fans that teams don't get awarded trophies for bragging rights as they head into Tuesday’s home game against title-chasing Manchester City in which a win may hand the English Premier League trophy to local rivals Arsenal.
Speaking to the media on Monday the Australian said he cannot understand how any Tottenham fan would want their team to lose , even if a defeat could prevent the Gunners from winning their first league title in twenty years on Sunday.
Arsenal are currently top of the league on 86 points, one ahead of City, who have two games remaining - at Tottenham on Tuesday then at home to West Ham United on Sunday.
Arsenal have just one game left, Sunday’s final game of the season at home to Everton.
If Tottenham draw with City it gives Arsenal the chance to beat Everton and take the title with their superior goal difference of three goals.
A Spurs victory on Tuesday means a win for Arsenal on Sunday would guarantee Arteta’s side the title.
Pep Guardiola’s side have not won a league game in the new Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, which opened in 2019, but were 1-0 victors in their last visit, January’s fourth round FA Cup tie.
Tottenham drew 3-3 with City at the Etihad Stadium in December and currently sit fifth in the English Premier League, four points away from the final Champions League qualification spot, which could be sealed by Aston Villa if they beat Liverpool at home on Monday.
