- This is a tool-assisted speedrun. For more information, see tasvideos.org/1520M
TAS originally published on 2010-05-13
Tool-assisted runs are more than just running to the end of a game as quickly as possible; precision also plays a huge factor. As proof, look no further than... mini-golf?
While the segments of input are very short, a great deal of work is needed to figure out exactly what the best shots are in order to complete the holes in the fastest possible time.
If you enjoyed watching this, also check out another mini-golf run (tasvideos.org/1507M) with even zanier courses. - Hry
They told me I was crazy putting molten lava on my minigolf course but I showed them
TASes like these are always extremely satisfying to watch.
My thought exactly.
I guess if you're only going to have three songs for the entirety of the game soundtrack, you gotta make sure they slap extra-hard.
Actually there is 4, the other one it's the Game Over.
There's a number 5 but i don't think that's used.
This was a game that was only downloadable using the Sega Meganet which means that the games were needed to be made extra small. So yeah, not enough space for more songs.
@@alanbareiro6806 Oh, that's interesting to know! I actually had no idea that it was a Meganet game, which makes it all the more amazing (to me, anyways) that they were able to get that kind of sound from the included songs considering the space limitations.
@@cvmh777 Yeah, the games that were played through the modem were on the 50-200kb of size iirc. This modem was pretty slow, even by 1991 standards.
Music is legit.
It's a prime example of Japanese developed games always sounding much better than American developed ones on the Mega Drive.
@@MarsofAritia Well, European games have great soundtracks (the ones you saw of recent like Mr Nutz, Puggsy, and Zool? Those are European developed). American ones, not so much, since most rely on the awful GEMS driver.
Meaty genesis noises all around
@@solarflare9078 Mega Drive sounds suck. As for Japanese vs American game music, no comment.
@@sdgdhpmbp Super Famicom sounds suck then because of all the crappy music on the console then like Wayne's World, Captain America and The Avengers, Urban Strike, etc
Notice how all of those games are American developed? This is the quality gap I mean. And do you see the issue here? It's never a good idea to dismiss one thing that's equally as flawed as the other for the same reasons one gets a bad rap.
Kinda thought there might be wasted time on the final hole until I remembered TAS stops timing on the final input, so setting up the final bounce prevented another whole stroke from being timed
ok this was pretty satisfying to watch, also the final level bein Breakout Golf, that's clever
Look up the Knockout Nightmare hole on Zany Golf!
Nice trick doing an early End of Input on the last hole 👌
Well, _this_ is a new genre for TAS to handle! I like it! It's a very chill video. Good job, aqfaq!
How did they get the boiling lava on the course without burning the grass?????
Magic! Or aliens
Lava resistant barriers LOL
It's actually just Kool-Aid.
It’s just hot-tubs filled with salsa.
@@Katia_Managan Shit, that's way funnier.
I like big putts and I cannot lie.
Genius.
All you other golfers can't deny
whats uhhh going on with that map there? 0:50
Not gonna lie, I love the idea of having Breakout in a mini-golf game.
Great job!
I liked this TAS. my favorite hole was No.7
I never heard of this one, he looks fun, one of the funnest mini golf games I know is miniverse on PC part of the egames collection.
I love the genesis twang.
2:54 no human could ever do this in real life unassisted lol
18th hole flag: "I must go now. My people need me."
*19th
What's with the counting of points in this game?
Stage 2 had 2 shots and total went up to 4 when it should 3. Stage 4 was done in one shot but it went from 5 to 7.
Does it have some special rules on how much points you get?
Babe wake up new tas just dropped
Uh yeah "new"
@@MarsofAritia Doubble rainbows all over the place
Ngl the music is fire
And the Soundtrack goes BIP BIP BIP BIP!...BIP!....BIP!
That's a pretty good
when you're determined to win that free cake at the minigolf place
This was fun to watch, but the physics of this game makes my head hurt.
Weird Kirby's Dream Course
Can't believe how many games this TAS guy is good at.
YEWWWAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!
Wonder what came first, this or Zany Golf?
I suggest feather touch.
0:49 Is that level shaped like a swastika?
So this is sequel to putt and putter?
Was this game made on the same engine as Fatal Labryinth? The menu text looks nearly identical. The music sounds a bit similar to the main dungeon theme, too.
It might be a downloadable game from MegaNet, which had games of very small sizes. I'll come back to you on this game's ROM size. (Fatal Labyrinth was 1Mbit)
It was, but I don't know the game's exact size.
looks like the hole has a magnet in it
Green Hills is a golf course this entire time.
Is this on a gameboy console? If so then which one? Color or advance?
Dude it’s in the title.
It’s on a Sega Genesis.
the site is dead is there anything else insted to find old record
The last publication was 5 days ago and there's 19 new submissions on the bench. What are you on about?
If you're upset that there's not any _new_ TASes start making some yourself and see if you can get a submission accepted.
@@Spikechive ok does the site block the eu ? because when i use my navigator i cant see anything on the website(404) but with tor the site is up and running
i don't understand
Me when the robot with perfect accuracy gets a hole in one: 😮
The greatest speedruner ever STAS, again do some cool stuff but never post it in speedrun.com
is this a port of zany golf?
Inspired by, no doubt. There’s an actual Zany Golf port on the Genesis, which is what you may be thinking of.
Developers who spent weeks coding this game: "Am I a joke to you?"
Looks like a 2009 video
_phew,_ glad it's a 2010 video then.
Not enough Kirby
I agree
POV: god playing golf.
0:53 interesting choice of course shape
It’s literally facing the correct direction and it’s diagonal there is no way that isn’t intentional
I’m sure that’s not what it’s meant to be. Japan never lost all the other meanings of the symbol like most of the west did.
@@Tom-jw7ii the swastika has many meanings in history, but a diagonal clockwise swastika is specifically the nazi swastika.
@@herrsteinr637 It kind of has to be diagonal since it’s an isometric game.
SNES got Kirby Golf, the Mega Drive gets...I mean it's okay, I guess?
Sega Channel*
@@eins2001 *Sega Meganet
Yes one else allowed the golf!
Who leaves lava on a mini golf course!?
流石にHIO無理なのがあるし最終に至ってはTASでも3打必要なのか
Zany golf…
Every time I see a Tool assisted run, I always ask what the fuck is the person doing while the computer is doing the run for them?
Go play "WHAT THE GOLF?" now
0:52 Ummmmmmm... Is this course seriously shaped like a swastika?
It's from Japan, where the original meaning of it is more well known than the ... Way it was used by Germany
@@romajimamulo Ohhhhhh that makes sense
It is a buddhist symbol. It's just that those filthy nazis just co-opted the symbol.
swastika doesnt have an extra lip on the tentacles
Clearly an inferior imitation of Kirby’s Dream Course for the SNES
Can't be an imitation if it came out 3 years before that game
Solar Flare
it sure couldn’t, could it? bet that fact could make for a pretty fun joke comment
some dense reply guy might miss the point though
