What a shame it’s 90+ degrees outside. I’d bookmark that dumpster in my head to always check it in the fall and winter. They could’ve donated all that meat to a food bank. Love your videos! ❤️
Not always. Depends on local laws. Also, most folks don't want to risk their jobs for "theft". Having worked in a bunch of grocery stores all over the US a lot of times there ARE employees who throw out good food so their friends etc can come "shop" for free. It does happen A LOT. They make it hard for the honest people.
I am so glad we have people like you donating food to those in need, perfectly good food being thrown away, keep up the great work.
The worst part about all that meat is the animal gave their life for nothing ,believe me I eat meat I’m not a vegetarian but it’s sad….

Thank you for donating to those in need. We need more folks like you. These companies are super cautious about their perishables. They don’t want to risk lawsuits. I still don’t think it’s right. If their meats are still cold they should have contacts that can come and pick up to cook for those in need or give it to them.
I was in a local store a few months ago and they had 100 packs of bacon reduced for 99 cents each because that day was the expiration date. I talked to them because it was a mom and pop kind of store- a chain IGA, but litlle local one. At 5PM they handed me the 100 packs of bacon for 20.00 total. I put them right in the freezer and gave a bunch to people and ultimately took 75 frozen packs to a womens shelter who had the ability to keep them frozen. The wasting is so frustrating. God Bless 🥰
I normally score discounts on meat at Target they try to reduce it really low when it’s about to expire. I buy them up and take ‘em home straight too the freezer. Idk why some stores don’t try to do that

If states would write up some Good Samaritan laws for companies who donate almost expired food, I think things would change.

Why don't these places contact homeless shelters, meals-on-wheels, food banks, and other community service places? People are struggling and trying, yet still need help. I'm glad there are people like you who help out. God bless!!!

A lot of them do donate but you have to remember most of this stuff is on the verg of it going bad. What do you expect them to do with it.? I personally don't think they want to donate dangerous food. And I'm sure they don't have the extra staff or lab personnel or testing facilities to test each item one by one to make sure it's all safe to donate. That would cost many thousands of dollars to accomplish.

Now the soap from the other night that is just bad inventory management, probably at the corporate level where they just send it to all stores whether they need it or not. Not cool. It ends up in the landfills contaminating ground water for many years to come

Local health laws and regulations. Also, having worked in grocery stores (all types) you often DO end up wuth people throwing out good food so friends etc can come get out of the dumpster. So. A few bad apples ruin it for everyone else. :(

I can't thank you enough for everything you guys donate & you're absolutely right, even if lots of it is "junk food" there are ways of using less nutritionally dense foods to stretch proteins, grains & veggies. As someone who used to rely of food donations every week I can't tell you how much that food will impact your community & when you have kids it's nice to be able to lift their spirits with a little treat.
Our town has a food pantry and they pick up donations from the two grocery stores we have in town. We get meat, produce, bread, dairy, etc. It really benefits those in need in our community!
Just can't wrap my head around all the waste going on. The prices of food now days. And you got stores throwing away cases of meat. So glad you were able to save all that bread and snacks. You two are such a blessing to others. We need more people like you guys in this world.

Other than being fried, the pork skins are LOADED with protein and really make a great snack.
Why couldn't these stores donate this stuff directly to a rescue mission? Most towns have at least one. That wasted meat is a darn shame.

TY for saving this from the landfill. We are in a drought out west and the best way to deal with it is eat 100% of the food we grow and buy.

It's thrown away because they don't want to be sued if someone should get sick after eating it, some states will Donate it to a Food Bank.

If you take hot dog buns and split/ cut the top in half lengthwise- You will have have 3, finger lengths per bun between the bottom and two half tops. Let them dry over night on the counter then use them in the morning for French toast.

Atleast some kids will be able to have snacks, and the bread can make a meal, like open face dandwiches, and also bread and gravy
When I dumpster dive I ended up getting totes busted or not. Y’all having a truck is even better. Fill 2 totes with ice for cold foods. I’m just trying to help y’all out. As far as the meat goes, it’s really not bad if you can find a wildlife sanctuary, shelter that might take it. JS
Stacy, I have had food poisoning. I thought I was going to die. There were some instances where I wished I would die. Intestinal issues are nothing to gamble with.
On the other hand, if you take any meat where the package is not bloated, (or has a nasty smell) boil it when you get home for the dogs. It is more than likely good.

We need to form "squads" where we all live. Get together enough people to have someone drop by the worst offender dumpsters every couple hours in shifts to pull out this food while it is still cold during the summer! Having groups to do that would help save alot during the hot months. The wastinb makes me mad. The meat can be frozen immediately and used months and months later as long as it doesn't sit out and spoil. Makes me mad. God Bless 🥰

Wow all that meat! Maybe next time you go out you could try that dumpster earlier in the evening. All that meat would have filled your new freezer for sure. With our country in the shape its in, all that waste is just criminal.
I live in Canada Montreal. For about 6 years now we have not been able to take anything out of the garbage containers because all the stores installed garbage compactors. We don't have free food. Food banks sell food for $5 for one person and $20 for a family. The meat, which is very scarce, turns gray from freezing and thawing so many times. No one cares if someone gets poisoned. We are grateful for this minimum that we can get at a low price because food in Canada is much more expensive than in the US. In food pantries they always advise you to soak the meat in white vinegar before consuming. And you know what? They are right, all the rotten flavor goes away. Just seeing that you found 5 boxes of meat makes my saliva come out of my mouth, I could eat it raw.))))

MEAT hauls are incredible! Frustrating because it’s a life wasted for no reason, not to mention the enormous amount of resources used to curate it for sale. Amazing work rescuing it all as usual Adam and Stacy!

You and your family are amazing for always thinking of others, no matter what your donation to the blessing box is. I assure you they will be appreciating to have what they get. It is better then nothing at all. Its alright cause you can still make a meal out of pork rinds. Saute them in any kind of sauce etc add some veggies and boom you've got a meal. May you and your family continue to be Blessed.
None of these companies care about hungry people. They right it off and get more from them throwing it away. DG also spray painted some very nice quilts and comforters recently. That really pisses me off that they feel it's best to destroy them.
You've got to wonder if those people who destroy things will themselves one day be in need. God does not like waste. That's why I believe the dumpster divers are doing God's work.
I cannot believe the food waste in the US. Surely it could be donated to homeless shelters or somewhere where it is needed before dumping.

Hey, pork skins are perfect for those trying the low carb/ no carb diet. Plus the have a lot of protein in them. You can crush them up in a food processor and use them as the "breading" for fried chicken. Sooo good. Use them as croutons in a salad. Many different uses. I never had the Dots but their pretzels are the bomb.
ETD:And Staci, unless you stalk the store or have some one on the inside to give you a heads up, you can never tell when they are going to throw good stuff out. Don't beat yourself up. I understand, you guys were stocked up in that freezer and when it went out it took out thousands of dollars of food. If mine died, I would be devastated. Winter is coming. It doesn't mean much for our states, but hopefully we will have some cooler weather.

If the meat doesnt smell bad, cook for ur dogs. They eat anything.
I've used those pork rinds for breading meat items. Just grind them down to a crumb. Or just through them in a bag and smash them up with a rolling pin. Just add more spices but not salt...it seems like they have enough of that. Just an idea for a change up
If you cook it, especially in a pressure cooker, it will probably be safe. If you take the cooked meat and put it in the freezer it will definitely be safe. Cook over 180 degrees, then freeze. then just reheat when needed. PS Go to the manager and offer to take food to Salvation Army or some other charity. One of the first things Clinton did was pass the Good Samaritan Law, you cannot be sued for feeding the less fortunate. I have volunteered at a group here in CA called Food Finders for over 30 years.

Why wouldn’t the store not gift meat to The County Food Stores to let hungry people have food! This is a travesty with so many people hungry in these times!!

If the color is good, it smells fine, and you cook it the meat is fine.
U need to take a class on testing meats. The color alone was very good on all of them. That alone is a big indicator it’s good. Then the smell test. Then the slime test. U can tell if u open the meat and smell it. Many times it lasts passed the time u think? Freakin Frugal always take it and check. They always say the meats were always good. They never got sick. It’s common sense when u smell it, or if it’s slimy. If it smells nice and isn’t slimy, it may be fine. U know once u smell it tho. The color on that meat was still red. That’s a good sign. Yogurt also lasts for awhile, it’s made in a warm temp. So, it usually is fine.
