I read a long time ago that George, who is self-taught on the guitar, learned to play the notes by sounding them out with his voice. His talent is immense!
Pittsburgh’s own George Benson! One of the greatest jazz guitarist ever, when he hit the music scene big time in the early to mid 70’s everyone was proud he was from our area. This song won him the ‘79 Grammy for best R&B vocal performance.
Love this jam, but the original live version even more.. but he can play & scat like 🔥!
Thanks Cara you said it all...
"Turn Your Love Around" is an excellent little ditty.
New day! best song by him, I like many others but that one is undervalued.
Fabulous talent, a joy to listen to. He deserves more recognition. I know he is highly respected among musicians, but should have a wider audience, IMO.
Love this but Give Me The Night is the jam!
Yes Trace! That's my favorite too😀
Breezin’
Breezin', Turn Your Love Around, the man can play Guitar... just awesome
George Benson was a Grammy winning Jazz guitarist and singer, but he could do any kind of music and crossed over to pop a lot during the 70's and 80's. Glad you know who he is now; he was amazing!
I LOVE George Benson! The Breezin LP sucked me in and I was hooked. He was the high school introduction to jazz. Later came John Klemmer's Touch and I was officially hooked, but George was the jump off point.
I heard Breezin as a little kid on Sesame Street Took me till I was, maybe in my 20's to find out who did the song so happy to find out and get a CD with the song. I still love it. .
"Cause I can play this here guitar "😁
👌🏾😎❤️
George Benson's version of This Masquerade is wonderful also. Leon Russell wrote/sung it and Karen Carpenter did a good version also. Each artist puts a different genre style on it without ruining the song.
Truly beautiful music. A great singer. He does a song called masquerade that is incredible you should hear it
yes masquerade is a great song
Love his voice 💕💕. What a blast from the past. Loved it.
George Benson is one smooth cat! I wore this song out back in the day. George & Billy Preston, Legends!
George Benson...such a talented individual! Loved it! 💕💕💕 😊🌹
Love George Benson, bought 'Broadway' back in the 70's and the album 'Give me the Night' in around 1980. He's the only one I've heard who scats with his guitar like that. You could never get into one of his concerts, they were booked out as soon as they were announced it seems LOL I've just been listening to Give me the Night and those tracks...OMG the memories that return like the speed of light. Ah-Mazing!!! 💙🧡💚💜💛💖
I know a country artist that scats with his guitar and I love listening to him as well.
Glors The premium version of this song is on the "Weekend In LA" CD. Just killer!
I always loved George. I have never heard this live version, just the studio. Great performer. He has such joy here.
Love George Benson. Just last week I had an ear bug of his rendition of "Nature Boy." "...the greatest thing you'll ever learn is to love and be loved in return."
He is a master at the guitar. Love when he scats with the guitar at the same time.
Omg Ty!! Can't pass on George Benson...such a great singer and guitarist
Met George B. in Chicago at a NAMM trade show, what a cool dude and a real self taught talent! Still have the vinyl LP he signed and gave me . I'm just sharing a good memory with you Ty, so carry on man the great work your doing !
That was Jools Holland on the piano. Great song all way round.
Grover Washington Jr. Just the two of us.
Fantastic song, but remember Grover was the saxophone player. The genius behind the song was really Bill Withers who wrote it, and sang the vocals. Bill was having troubles with his recording label at the time so he was recording collaborations at the time.
@@robertelee63 interesting , did not know that. Thank you.
Great song indeed also like the keyboard in it.
MRM, if you enjoy this style, check out David Sanborn and Al Jarreau "Since I Fell for You." Quite a treat.
All good artists
Al Jarreau - Morning Great song
Al Jarreau is versatile and has great agility when scatting or imitating instruments.
Oh man love this song, love the grove, always brings a huge smile to my face. I cannot remember where I was when I first heard this, I suspect it may have been when I was ice skating.
The endless 1977!
My favorite jazz performer, one of the greatest jazz guitarist ever. Saw him and Al Jarreau together in concert. I was front row, center!!!
Benson proved that a jazzman could shred with the best.
Ah you know some Eric Clapton 😀
George Benson is a gem. Amazing
Legendary George Benson I grew up listening to his music good vibes good feelings.
George Benson is one of my favorites. Guitar and singer who is great at both.
Thanks very much. I love this song and George Benson, but I've never seen this video. WOW, brilliant.
Love this song. George Benson is a master legend!
This song brings back memories of my late brother, he used to listen to this song all the time in the 70's. I am very familiar with this song. For those of you who don't know that was Jools Holland on piano, he is a fantastic pianist who can play any style of music. This must have been from Jools's TV show which I can't remember the name of off the top of my head. Jools would have musicians from all genres on his show which made it very interesting. Oh, I just remembered, it's called Later with Jools Holland and it's worth checking out.
Great song choice! It's a beautiful song and one of my mom's favorites. It was another song I grew up on. It's bringing back some good memories. Old school rocks!
George he be speaking in tongues as the high priest of funk.
Loved his work , sing and play the same notes , I never saw anyone else even attempt it , thanks for this blast from the past.
George Benson was unnatural. He was known for his impeccable guitar playing skills.
The most perfectly performed song I've ever heard.
George Benson first (On Broadway") and Eric Clapton (change the world) quite a few years later. George Benson was so cool! Loved listening to him jam ('70s!)
Ty, George Benson did start out playing Jazz, He had a Jazz group called The George Benson Trio in the early to mid 60's, He developed his own style which incorporates Jazz, Blues and Pop, which You can hear on On Broadway. He is a performer who is better live then on records.I have seen him a few times and He never disappoints.
George Benson , just a great talent !
I love George Benson. He is a good guitar and has a beautiful voice. The piano player is Jools Holland.
If I Could Change the World is by Eric Clapton - and is one of my favorite songs. On Broadway is another great one. Love your reaction to to it. I used to listen to it on repeat when I was a little girl.
Always loved George Benson! Such a great artist! So happy you liked it, too!
George Benson. PITTSBURGH FINEST! ❤️🙏🏼🤗🎸
Not even waiting til it's over - been one of my all time favorite songs for as long as I can remember.
Change the World is Eric Clapton. George Benson is considered one of the best jazz guitarists of the last half century.
Jazz for sure...definitively!
Dunno why George did not stay in the limelight longer...he inspired a whole generation of guitarists and the octave solo he played in Breezin inspired us all to reexamine Charlie Christian and Wes Montgomery upon who's shoulders he stood.
On top of it he is an AMAZING singer....
DOOD! ...check out Breezin!!!
Sean Woodburn
He is constantly touring I saw him last summer in London. He is out on tour now...
I remember having this song on cassette tape. This live version was song years later. I liked the studio version better. Absolutely Amazing.
Love, Love, Love this song. It makes me want to dance and sing along. Awesome beat. I don't know where I was when I first heard it, but I must have been having fun.
I really enjoyed this!
#ModernRenaissnceMan You said you didn't know if I'm male or female and the answer is yes. I am a female, I didn't pick my name, was named after my dad, his name wasn't Jimmie, my mother named three of the four of us and she was warped. In a funny ha ha sort of way. My sister's middle name is Clyde. See what I mean?
I requested this 1) I was married for a couple of minutes in the 1900's (yes that makes me 100 and something) and my husband was the lead singer in a band. George Benson won guitar player of the year and he (my ex) and the lead guitar player were PO'd saying he doesn't play that much he makes noise with his mouth. And B) I love to hear someone that can and is really gifted at 'scatting'. Not only is he an amazing guitar player the man can scat! Part of his style is jazz, rhythm and blues, soul and funk. You should google him and check out the history of his musical career. I love how he does this song and I hope you enjoyed it. 'Change the World' is a great song, Eric Clapton recorded it and was released in 1996 and Babyface released it on his album 'MTV Unplugged, NYC, 1997' with Clapton.
Had a ton of jazz! Love George Benson. Song you were thinking about was by Eric Clapton. Another great artist and guitar player
Saw him in concert a few years ago in an intimate theatre. Wow!
This song is The Opening of All That Jazz Movie (1979)
Hey it Jool Holland on piano,I like watching his show,"Later with Jools Holland"...I'm a George Benson fan 👍😀 So good to see you're enjoying it Ty 😊 he was jamming 👍I love that song If I could change the world, by Eric Clapton and Baby Face 👍💚would be awesome if you could do a reaction to that song 👍
Great song by a very talented artist!
Another trip in the WayBack Machine.
Have admired George Benson's musical ability since I was in Junior High school way, way, way, back,....well before there was such a thing as internet and cell phones. Geez I'm old. But this guy is massively talented, and should have received more critical attention.
Gerry Rafferty song Baker Street(long version)...absolutely classic !!!
George Benson was a child prodigy.........one of the greatest guitar players of all time..............
Great track, great reaction...!!!
Fabulous....greetings from Brazil!
Remember this well! Big hit! Love!!!💙🙌🏻
Love this tune ........................G.B. flat layin it down on this as he always does live......................it's always co clean-n-tight......................
Good song. I remember singing with it all the time. Like it.
George Benson was incredibly talented and a fantastic entertainer. Broadway includes a very wide array of musical styles. Some shows that may surprise you (assuming your idea of Broadway only includes traditional shows like Oklahoma, My Fair Lady, The Music Man) include: CHICAGO (try "Cell Block Tango," "When You're Good to Mama" & "All That Jazz"); PIPPIN (try "Magic to Do" with the phenomenal Ben Vereen, "No Time at All" with Andrea Martin and and "Corner of the Sky," Mathew James Thompson or William Katt) and SWEET CHARITY (try "Hey, Big Spender"); A CHORUS LINE (try "I Hope I Get It," "Dance Ten, Looks Three" aka "T&A." & "Sing'"); THE WIZ (try "Home" and "Ease on Down the Road"); DREAMGIRLS (try the incredible "And I Am Telling You," Jennifer Holliday and Jennifer Hudson); ON YOUR FEET! (musical about life of Gloria Estefan - features her hit songs); COMPANY (try "Being Alive," "Another Hundred People," "Ladies Who Lunch" and "You Could Drive a Person Crazy"); KINKY BOOTS (try "Sex is in the Heel" & "Land of Lola"); FAME: THE MUSICAL (try title track and "Can't Keep It Down"); SWEENEY TODD (try title track, "A Little Priest," and "Pretty Women"); THE PRODUCERS (try "Springtime for Hitler"). Even as old a show as SHOWBOAT, more traditional, includes some surprising delights - try "Ah Still Suits Me" with Hattie McDaniel & Paul Robeson or the 2018 Olivier Awards version - both of its time and timelessly entertaining; and the ever wonderful "Can't Help Lovin' Dat Man," maybe the 1994 revival version); and the heart-stopping classic "Old Man River" - Paul Robeson owns the song, but many other fab versions as well. And the Gershwin opera PORGY & BESS is an essential (try "Bess, You is My Woman Now" and "Summertime")
I'm a long time listener of George Benson's. One of my favorite entertainers. Checkout his "While the City Sleeps" cd. The song "Change the World" is sung by Eric Clapton.
George Benson was awesome.
This is from a great late night music TV program,,,"With Jules Holland" On UK TV BTW he's on piano in the background
It is in my all time favorite Musical "all that Jazz"
80's and 90's george benson was huge in brazil.
Breezin, This Masquerade and the Greatest Love of All were some of his hits he's a jazz guitarist
I love TURN YOUR LOVE AROUND BY GEORGE BENSON
Benson's sixties version of Summertime is brilliant.
Blast from the past..love G! He does another song on breezin album - masquerade..must listen..beautiful song! Love jazz and R&B combo..
No ear buds. That’s how real stars do it.
Fabulous, Jools Holland on piano too 😃
Yesss. One of my favorite.💚

My favorite song!!!! Well one of them!
What a talent!
What a range he has vocally and some serious guitar skills. Great combo
I was brought up as a kid with the fantastic instrunebtal songs Breeziin" and Affirmation. As I got older, I discovered the other jgems oon that album. In fact, gonna pull out that album again later today!
This was a good song but his song ''Give me the night'' was a better song for me.
Love George Benson
"Change The World" Is a song by Eric Clapton and Babyface... you should listen to it... great song... George Benson is Legend Jazz guitarist
A real jam session!!!
The mans voice is just pure honey.
U gonna like this one. George Benson live I hope
Awesome song.
George did great concerts ...
Another great song
The change the world song you were referring to was Eric Clapton.
that was awesome
I remember playing this song in a rock garage band in the mid-sixties!
Love GB❤❤❤❤❤❤
Have you ever listened to “Gary Pucket and the Union Gap” they sing a song called “ young girl get out of my mind” . He has a wonderful voice. You should check him out! It’s an old song from 1960’s . I would Love to see your reaction.😊👍🏻
Love it. This song takes me back. Do Under the Boardwalk by the Drifters. I think the songs were around the same time.
A good cover version of the DRIFTERS 60s tune, totally different,to be expected and welcomed from a former backing Jazz Guitarist[ in the 60s] which is much in evidence on this track.Pianist is Jools Holland,so probable in the UK,on JOOLS program.
Al Jarreau was another one into Scats, they actually are both a legend and the they have also an album together!!
