Absolute legend. He wasn't joking about being a flying machine - and he could beat players for fun . He was also, often, the victim of many rough and dirty tackles from defenders, who would do anything it took to stop him in full flight . Great player.
I remember Willie Henderson came to Hong Kong in mid 70s and played for Hong Kong Rangers for one or two years. His performance was fantastic. It is great to see him again.
I was lucky enough to meet Willie outside Ibrox last season. A true gentleman. He had loads of time for speaking to me and no airs or graces about him. Just a lovely down to earth man. I often wonder what old players like Willie would be worth in today’s market.
this was the most impactful player to ever play the game. I had the good fortune of seeing him from schoolboy through his professional career. he was far better than jimmy Johnstone from a impact point of view, every time he touched the ball the opposing defenses went into panic mode. thanks for all the great memories.
I have been a lifelong fan of Wullie since the '60's when my friend Ian Loch and I would go to Ibrox during out school breaks to watch them train at the stadium and the Albion. I had his autograph hundreds of times but unfortunately they are all gone. A few years ago I met him at the NARSA Convention here in Toronto, I was overcome with emotion. During the Q and A I asked him why he had left me and Rangers ? He replied, " I didn't leave Rangers , Rangers left me" . Still my hero to this day.
I've known the wee man since 1997 and you only really get a glimpse of the real Willie at the very end of the video when he's telling the story of Casius Clay. I've sat with Willie hundreds of times listening to his story's and jokes and never heard the same one twice. He showed me the program he has from the Stanley Mathews testimonial match which is signed by all the players and also one of Eusebio's tops he talks about. Wee man is one of the finest gentlemen i know and the biggest character you'll ever meet. Plus being a Celtic fan the banter is quality with him and even though I'm taller than him he still calls me wee man lol.
I remember that game at Hampden in 1965 I think....John Greig scored late on to win 1-0....I think the crowd was 120,000....couldn't feel my lungs expanding..it was scary at times.
Celtic beat Dundee in the league Cup of 67..george McLean and forrest, maclean was at Dundee and forrest went to Aberdeen after they made a power of money in 67 aff the Berwick match..
Brilliant interview and great memories. Willie is an absolute gentleman.

My cousin his dad and my mum brother and sister ...sporting family not seen him for a long time ...
Willie Henderson looks great for his years, Rangers Legend. My Dad says he was good enough in the ring to have turned a pro boxer.
Raymond McDonald I recall Willie playing at ER and he was formidable. As was JJ for Celtic. Willie was very direct and had bags of energy
