Nice im working on my 2005 RX_8 going to be doing a clutch and flywheel soon but we ghetto out here! we doing this in the middle of the street. the lift is a major plus. in my case 4 jacks work fine. keep up the good work.
doing a clutch and flywheel job soon also doing the apex seals on my 04 rx8 this is a really good video to help me know what im getting myself into and best thing im doing it with a bunch of my 17/18 year old friends
im glad i found this channel since I just got one it helps to see someone else have one and have videos on what he does
Your best video yet, in my opinion. Great job 😎
Nice to see somebody have the time and money to learn as you go.. Good work.
I'm literally a month away from getting my Mazda RX8 and I honestly cannot wait
Samson Caruso Did you end up getting your RX8? Im gonna be getting mine in a month.
@@Backroad-Bomber Did you get one?
Did you get it? I’m torn between an rx8 or a mustang. I love them both.
@@DillonLeBlanc14 what did you get? Rx8 is the choice
@@bauerdabo3608 just purchased an 04 rx-8 and i love it so far despite the terrible soldering and wiring fix the guy before me tried on the EPS wiring harness
It really gets my heart pumping. The RX-8 is without a doubt the most beautiful car I've seen yet. I'm definitely getting one in three years when my licence and insurance companies let me drive a car faster than 100hp.
Lou D its still fun going regular speed
@G-Misc 59 how much
And did you buyed a rx8?
@@snoopkrime1 God bless you for responding to 5yo comments.
I ended up going nomad and do not own a car at the moment.
I also got into motorcycles and a car now is winter transportation. So... No, I did not get one.
@@rdln4313 what you mean with the first one?
God bless you to respond to a comment which is over 5years now 😂.
Ohh thats interesting! Im also in motorcycles and cars. I have a RX8 in my garage hehe. That was the reason of my comment :)
The picture is well taken, the working procedure is very easy to understand. Equipment is also necessary.
Nice vid! Just to mention - there is a clearance for the PPF to crossmember to maintain the correct drive line angles.
I followed your video on replacing my clutch. Thank you for the video. it helped alot
awesome vid I loved the cool shots and the editing
Wao it’s a lot of work on it, congratulations guys. Good video, thanks for all tips.
Glad I saw what you did with how to get the old pilot bearing out.
Nice job,I just took out an RX8 engine today.
nicely done, keep em coming.
Good job man… it’s nice 👍 I have a RX8 6 stroke to here in Japan
Wait so you're 17/18 and you live in that big house and have two cars? What the fuck have I done wrong.
Cam Rolly nope. On previous video there is a white daddys porshe as well so ask yourself where from his got money
Cheers for the video, helped out a lot. Did you end up bleeding your clutch?
This video worked perfectly for me!
Dude amazing video. I just picked up a new transmission as well as Exedy clutch. I don’t have a lift but have a local shop that hooks me up on stuff I can’t do. I usually help them out and want to make sure they don’t need a special tool for pilot bearing.
They asked me ahead about this and I didn’t think any was needed. Keep in mind it’s young guys at shop who will do whatever it takes to get job done. Can this easily be Dont the way you did it or do you have a better option to share. Thanks ahead for all feedback
Good stuff! I really like that you weren't afraid to tackle that project. How many hours did it take you?
I take full credit for that final shot haha
great job guys
Great vid!
Great video!👍
Damn that's alot of work
Have u done a follow up on the clutch I'm ordering one for my 2010 rx8 and I'm thinking of going to the stage 1 organic exedy is it stiffer? Smooth gear change?
Wet tissue!
saved me $170
Thanks Again
im new here in your channel....but damn that was awesome!!!👌.....
Where did you get that lift, I gotta get me one of those, I took my trans out of my evo 9 on my garage floor to send it out for a rebuild, with Jack stands, that lift defiantly would have been nicer to work with
Can you please tell me from where did you get it and the exact name of the kit? It's a bit complicated for me here in greece to find the exact kit without the whole name
i just did this and im struggling attaching the slave cylinder back into place
Just got my clutch and flywheel in the mail little worried about this but hopefully I'm back on the road soon. Better than $3000 mechanic bill
What's the cost if done DIY
hello, yesterday I changed my clutch watching your video but I had a percanse with the big nut! Tell me exactly what measure it is!
Nice job guys, great attention to detail..
Have you installed the midpipe of racing beat? But is catalytic or dekat?
Does this Approach work on a 2008 RX to? I wanna buy one but it need the clutch replaced and I wanna make sure I know what I’m doing first lol
The thumb nail says " if I can do it you can" lol.. seriously thank you for the help!I have a yellow 04
How long did the full installation take? Can this be done in one day?
What about balancing the flywheel with the rear counterweight? I’m confused about that process.
Is the counterweight for the racingbeat flywheel the same as oem?
How do you get the big transmission bracket out
Did you had to loosen the screws from the engine for holding purpose? to put away the transmission?
I did mine buy myself with my 8 on jackstands, that transmission is not that heavy but a pain to wrestle by yourself with no jack
Does the flywheel need counterweight i just change flywheel didnt know if it counterweight was needed need help
How did you bleed the clutch?
did you order that from modern automotive performance by chance??
Hey did you guys have any problems with the clutch pedal at the end?
legit af.
Great video, I'll be using this as a guide soon. Quick question about the pilot bearing and seal. In your video you don't mention installing the seal, but I think I can see that you have actually installed one. Do you know if there was a right or wrong way of installing the bearing or the seal? I'm seeing differing opinions online. Thanks!
bearing goes in first, seal after that. Bang them in with a socket the same OD as the bearing and seal. The seal should be flush. Before you take the old seal out, you can mark how far it is in the whole, so you know how far to bang in the bearing and seal. Also, don't bother with a bearing puller, use wet toilet paper or bread and find a rod the same size as the inside thing and bang it in. Works so much better, but you may need a slide hammer to get it out when putting more toilet paper in. Watch some videos online about how to do it. Don't waste your money on the bearing puller.
Japanda Tuning, sorry I wasn't very clear. I meant is it possible to install the bearing back-to-front or are there markings on it that show you which way faces the e-shaft? Same for the seal.
The bearing no, the seal yes, it will have a little groove on the side to the bearing
No link to clutch ?
it is awesome. ....
how long did it take for you guys to do this?
18 years old, and have more than me, where did I made mistake in life?
Anyways really nice vid bro ;)
Awesome vid bro how had was to replace the clutch master cylinder I just bought a 2006 Mazda Rx8 and my clutch is sticking I feel that I have to replace it and I'm just wondering how hard is it to replace it can you help me out :)
im currently haveing the same issues.
i replaced the master and it still is not disengaging. ive spent to days bleed it and all i can think of.

Make a video replacing the clutch and slave cylander
dude your a really smart kid
Very cool dude. I have an Rx8 too. I am noticing some vibration issues, have to replace the motor mounts. But I know this car rides low to the ground as most sports cars but I feel EVERYTHING. I wonder what can I do for a smoother ride?
aftermarket coilovers with adjustable damping. only take a couple hours to install and can be found (relatively) cheap, depending on the brand and where you look.
what kind of car lift is that
Hi, I have a 04 Rx8 crank but will not starting I see you are in PA like myself do you do outside projects?
shoot me an email: japandatuners@gmail.com
Where does the counter weight go? Awesome video
On the flywheel then in the rear of the engine
Hey My Friends dad has a Mazda Rx8 its an 04. 4 to 5 months ago he stopped driving it and they took the battery out. Recently we took a battery we had and we put it in the Rx8 but It wouldnt start what would you guys recommend me to try and do to see if I can get it running
its probably flooded
Capturedfreak 93 its actually a simple fix... Ppl will say its a 3000 dollar shop visit but its bull... Put it on a battery charger and pull the fuel pump fuse.. Crank it for 5ish seconds and you'll hear a pitch change.. Put it in and crank it til another pitch change. Repeat the process a few times til it acts like it wants to fire but won't quite start... When you get there continue the process and when the fuse is in lightly pump on the gas while you're cranking it... Took me 15 minutes or so and when it does start you'll need to manage the fuel input with the throttle for about 30 seconds to a minute til it gets the air out of the line and gets its idle smoothed out. Once its idling properly you should be good to go... Take it for a drive to get it fully warmed up and hoon it to 9k a couple times and get the cobwebs blown out. Should be back to normal at that point
Hey bro, is it OK to install a lightweight flywheel without the counter weight?
No, counter weight is required to balance the offset for the weight difference.
What exhaust kit do you have on your 07 ? Im buying one tomorrow.
K.Betts_uploads that’s a Greddy SP catback exhaust I got one on mine and a BHR midpipe , I think his is a BHR as well maybe a racing beat ... sounds awesome though definitely go with greddy catback
You look like a good adam lanza. From an alternate timeline where he became a car bro.
Dam how can you afford all these tools? I literally do this in the parking lot with my friends haha the pain duude
HARBOR FREIGHT
tru
Dertzey look on previous video when he's explaining what happend with his car... then you will see daddys white porsche and you gonna ask yourself why hes got tools
@@JapandaTuning how did you remove the top 3 bolts holding the tranny? Like did you use a little long ass extension or did you go for it from a weird angle?
@@juicecaja yeah almost 24 inches worth of extensions, a swivel, all on an impact gun 1/2 in drive
What front lip is that. Looks good.
seibon carbon fiber front lip. If you have any other questions about my car, watch "My Mazda RX8 Mod List" video on my channel!
Are you a car mechanic? If no then how did you know how to fix this problem it looks really hard to know all these things about this repair
Btw i love the vids man keep it up
haha nope not a mechanic just an engineer
It's called Google
How long did this take you from start to finish? Shop is quoting me $700 for labor I have the parts thinking bout doing it myself
if you are not experienced with working on cars, and working alone, give yourself 10 hours or so. I've done RX8 clutch replacements a couple times, and I can get it done in about 2 hours with one of my buddies, so it really depends on how much help you get and how experienced you are.
@@PeterArmour I'm in school right now for mechanics but haven't taken any transmission classes yet just finished brakes and suspension
Colorado shops just try to tax as much as possible
Quick question, put the redline in transmission after the starter is on?
doesn't matter they are not connected. I usually just do all the fluids last though.
@@PeterArmour thank you I appreciate it
local mazda dealership just quoted me £1400 to replace the clutch release bearing, told me it was a 2 - 3 day job cos they have to drop the engine... think ill be writing them a letter with this video attached and ask wtf is up
Why did that wet paper towel trick work to hammer out that piece?
think of wet paper towel/toilet paper as a highly viscous fluid. There is space behind the bearing, that the "fluid" is able to get to and push on the back of the bearing. When you hammer in a tight fitting piece into this "fluid" it pressurizes it, and the only thing for this high pressure "fluid" to push on is the back of the bearing, popping it out. You could use playdoh, wet toilet paper, even soggy bread. Anything that conforms to its surrounds but doesn't have a low enough viscosity that allows it to flow through the cracks in the bearing/around the tool so that it wouldn't end up building up enough pressure to pop the bearing out.
Yooo you lowkey look like Ryan from the office
Only issue is a light flywheel will cause problems down the line without balancing
ive been doing some reading and heard that a stage 1 clutch makes everyday driveability more complicated. im an experienced driver and not too worried but i was interested to hear your input. thanks man
A stage 1 clutch is just your everyday basic clutch, stage 2 and 3 + are a bit more complicating just because they are more stiff because they are rated to handle more hp/tq
My flywheel absolutely WILL NOT come off, I removed the 54mm nut. Ive tried hammering, using pulling tools, different lubricants and rust removers. I don’t know how tf to get it off. Someone help me please.
Take a big ass hammer and hit it on the outside just before the teeth. If you are replacing just use a sledge hammer, if not, use a big brass hammer or dense rubber mallet. It it HARD on one side then on the opposing side. It is tough but it will come off with a lot of force so just keep trying
@joseplayer2144 how did you end up doing it?...getting ready to do mine...and really considering a 3/4 impact wrench
やっぱり凄いなぁ!
はい、本当に素晴らしい

you dont have level your torque member !! need to be messure before tight!!
Great work but the video would be so much goddamn better without the loud ass music.
Harbor freight lookin a little sus these days 😳😂
Anybody familiar with the vibration when idling in gear on a automatic model?
Ai you do not want an AT one...buy manual buddy!
Today on "Rich Daddy tuning"....
Not Important are you jealous?
It hurt to watch you use the half inch impact on small bolts like that 😖
its faster than a wrench
That lift looks like a pain to use,,no room. Better off using jack stands.
I want this dubstep
Not a bad video, although super annoying beats..
Good quide but music is useless doesnt help.
all that $$$$$$$ daddy has figered you would have snap-on tools atleast
Good video other than the god awful music.. thought you were softening me up to slip a tongue in my ear..
You skipped so much.... no tips or tricks for a lot of stuff.
Dude how do you afford all this stuff that you do at "17 and 18 year olds"???
yeah imagine lol i grew up poor af and still am scraping by lmaoooooo
