    Great video! One thing I've noticed is that excellent manufacturing will give you precise edges, but that's not what people want on their face, and should really be taken care of before the customer gets it. An "as machined" finish isn't "finished" until it's more comfortable to use. It ought to be hit with a little wet/dry sandpaper. Sometimes people think more as a maker than a user. It's not a big deal to do it on my own, but something over $300 ought to be ready out of the box.

      I totally agree with you, it would not take but a few minutes for the company to take the sharp edges off or down a little. I’m going to put the link for part 2 in the description box in case people miss it. Thanks for watching Lee

    Love the Konsul. I have the regular and the XL. Both are amazing. I bounce between which length I prefer. Sometimes its the regular, sometimes the XL. Other times I just use my Ambassador. I def feel the difference between a slant and non slant if I have a couple of days growth.
    I'm not a fan of overly fancy packaging. I think the Henson Ti and Rex hit the sweet spot in packaging. All these super fancy packages lose me. Though I could them being nice for gifts.

      I’d rather skip the fancy packaging and save that money on the cost of the razor. I do feel like there is a difference between a slant and a regular razor. Thanks for watching!

    Nice! I watched your videos backwards, but that worked out fine for me. I totally agree with you, that the least amount of passes and having a razor with enough efficiency to get there in a couple of passes. That's actually the reason I got interested in slants and that really changed my shave for the better. I also don't play around with blades. If it's not super sharp and smooth, I don't use it. Nacets, Wizamets, Polesilvers, are the only DE blades I'll use. The Homelike is very similar to the PAA Monster slant in its torque and as soon as I saw it, I could tell that it's right up my alley. Also the matte finish-lol! The Monster series is not that aggressive for the big twist and is one of my favorite slants, so I'll definitely have to check this razor out.

    Great comparison of the two slant razors, can’t wait for part 2. I had a Konsul and decided I liked the Ambassador better so I let it go. Maybe it was the shallow slant and decreased blade feel, but I did not thing it was better than the Ambassador.

    • @lawrence1md

      Part two is up, it took a little bit longer for it to load. One thing I have learned about shaving is if there was only one option in razors, I think we would be happy. Since there are so many options we have a tendency to search for the best shave. Thanks for watching Dave!

    • @DaveR24
      @DaveR24 Před rokem +1

      @@lawrence1md the search is part of the fun for me. I could narrow it down to just one razor like I did back in the dark days of cartridge shaving, but what fun would that be? Keep putting out your great shave content!

    The regular Konsul Slant is 87mm long while the Konsul XL Slant is 108mm long for $50 more. I have the regular Konsul and I too think the handle is a bit short. When I bought my Rex Envoy I got the XL model which is 100.5mm and it feels just right. Personally I think that the whole slant concept is an unnecessary gimmick, and my Rex Ambassador does the job just fine. I also have the Tatara Muramasa, another expensive adjustable that I never use.

    • @sethcollins5536
      @sethcollins5536 Před rokem +4

      For me it's not. I've used most all the popular stainless or titanium razors out there. And slants give me consistently far better results.

    Agree, Rex has a lot of sharp edges! On the end of the bars like you stated, and *especially on the 4 underside corners of the cap* you won't feel them on the underside corners of the cap while shaving, but when changing the blade you will... the ones on the bar you may feel while shaving. Too Sharp. They should be chamfered for the amount of money I paid for the Rex Konsul.
    I have a love-hate relationship with the Rex but I believe I've figured it out. I've gotten some of the best damn closest shaves of my life with the Rex in the two weeks I've owned her, and I've gotten a few very close shaves but with *tons of irritation* on my neck.. The key with the Konsul for me is to not shave everyday. Shave every 2-3 days and most importantly use the *Gillette Platinum Blade*
    Your facial hair seems similar thickness to mine, of course mine is dark black hair and slightly Fuller, but I want you to try the Gillette Platinum in your Rex Konsul.

      The next day I did experience neck irritation from the konsul. I have tried many blades in it and I’m convinced. I need to send it down the road to another home. I can see how every 3 days could be helpful with it. Thanks for watching jackman!

    Great review. I can never decide which makes me happier. A cheap case I know they didn’t waste my money on it or fancy razor case? I feel the same when a gun comes with a cheap or fancy gun case. 😂
    I feel Rex really cheated customers out here for the razor cost it should have a better case IMHO.
    Do you care about the case at all?
    I do enjoy slants. My favorite so far is my Parker semi slant. Have u tried a vintage hoffritz slant? How about a modern Fatip Lo storto?

      I would rather have money put towards the razor, than a case. I would only use the case once a year for vacation, whereas the razor gets use multiple times a week. I haven’t tried the lo storto. Thanks for watching!
