  • These two games are very comparable, and both have their respective ups and downs, but which do I believe is the superior game? Is it the old-school PS2 smash hit DBZ BT3, or is it the new kid on the block, DB RB2?

    What I like about BT3, oddly enough, is that it is very unbalanced...exactly the way dragon ball z should be. Some characters are super weak, while some are ridiculously overpowered, which, counter-intuitive as it may sound in a fighting game, fits perfectly with the nature of DBZ - a show about characters getting more and more overpowered to curbstomp their opponents. The game doesn't even try hide the fact that some characters are FAR superior to others - it embraces that fact by giving you a "power rating" from 1 to 10 of characters when you pick your team in tournaments. Giant characters, slow as they are, can be downright broken (which is probably why they're no longer included in the raging blast games), and Broly is basically a giant character in human form: he moderately fast, and he doesn't flinch from your ki blasts or your freaking attacks (unless you're a SSJ3 or above). It doesn't matter how skilled you opponent is - he's gonna wince at the sight of Broly.
    Playing as SSJ4 Gogeta (the only character with a power rating of 10, for good reasons) was a guilty pleasure: you know you're overpowered, the developers know you're overpowered, and everyone is just having fun without caring about balancing or any of that. The game embraces overkill, which is inherent in DBZ. It may not be professional, but it's so damn FUN.

    See this is the thing, hearing "BT3 looks worse" doesn't make sense- how's that then? Well, it looks more like the show than the other game, even the newest one, sure it looks great but BT3 still looks more like DBZ than the other games does. Certainly plays like it too. BT3 does give that classic DBZ nostalgia feeling though whenever i play it on the Wii and it definitely wins in Story Mode, overall better Character Selection, and just giving off that nostalgia feeling. In the end i say RB2 but their both easily 2 of the best DBZ games out.

    I think the biggest difference in the gameplay(wich is fighting) is that you don't have blast points in RB2, so you can spam your ultimate or your buffs(Frieza's Pump Up buff is insane...his 100% full power buff kills everything) and of course you can transform whenever you want. Oh and the customization is better(in my opinion) in RB2. In BT3 a character had 3 or 4 version, like Goku with different moves. In RB2 there is only 1 Goku, with ALL OF HIS MOVES ^^ Though you can only use 4 moves per transformation, but it's far better to make your own skill setup:) And i think a customization of the characters is more important than the number of them, and it's kinda better to use your moves "whenever" you want, than to addicted to blast points.

    BT3 was the pinnacle of the 3D fighting games. The 360 and PS3 games were a step down when they should have been a step up. I'm still waiting for a DBZ game with an even larger roster, namely one that includes all the fighters from Dragonball and a story mode that covers all the fights in Dragonball.

    You clearly haven’t played RB2 very much if you think the combat system is simpler. Sure, the five main combos are pretty simple, but when you combine that with leg sweeps, knocking your opponent up in the air, charge attacks, jumping attacks, snap charging, and wall crashes it gets much more complicated. Neither game has simple mechanics, but RB2’s are way more complicated especially when you use Raging Soul. He is correct that the CPU is more difficult in BT3 than RB2, but that doesn’t mean the combat is easier to learn.

      I think on terms of gameplay rb2 is a bit better. As for ease of use it goes to bt3. You can do epic combos in both but they are harder to pull off in rb2 so battles with a real person rely more on skill and you feel more accomplished when you do pull one off. Also the characters feel more varied. It can feel a little clunky in rb2 for new players but once you learn cancels, it feels way more smooth and fluid. There's also more options for combos in rb2 as well. Bt3 gameplay is a little faster so I'll give it a plus for that. As for the better game all together, it goes to bt3 just because of the amount of content and game modes.

  • @Tiviat
    @Tiviat Před 11 lety +2

    If RB2 had some of its gameplay elements either shuffled around/tweaked or kicked to the curb entirely, it would be the better of the 2. But BT3 edges it by only a few measly points, instead of a landslide victory seeing as RB2 is still a pretty solid DBZ game.

    nah the problem with BT3 u get all of these characters but they all control the exact same and if you use anyone other than Kid Boo, SS4 Gogeta, or the Giant characters....you basically lost. All of the characters in RB1 and 2 have cancles meaning they can link their combos together based on the moment when the screen flashes and since each character in RB 1 and 2 have mostly different Signature moves the combos u can make are more available. Also the match ups are better. For example in BT3 if you have Videl vs. Great Ape that's basically a loss for Videl where in RB 1 and 2 there are no giant characters and thus everyone can be hit by a physical charge move.

      On a serious note, Bt3 is so severely limited in its online capability that it killed a large portion of the games debut and development but if you like BT3 because the combat system is more simple and there are more characters, I have no quarrel. :P

    I've played both Raging Blast 2 and Ultimate Tenkaichi and even though I did enjoy those games. They didn't really give you the Dragon Ball Z vibe that Budokai Tenkaichi 3 gave you.
    Plus the gameplay is a lot more stable for Budokai Tenkaichi 3 rather than Ultimate Tenkaichi or Raging Blast 2. Over all I think Budokai Tenkaichi 3 is the most worth it for purchasing. I love that game

  • @po72644

    When i played it Online on the Wii, there were far more glitches and spammers. they're both fighting games so there will always be a certain amount of spam, however RB2 can get around this problem easier with the different options in defense and a better balance in characters. In BT3 Rushes break your guard, there isn't as much effective defense options as in RB2 . Because in RB2 you can deflect beams, counter rush attacks. I can't explain it very well i just found RB2 to be much more balanced

    But a lot of the game has nearly all the other characters on a similar playing field, minus the fact that the stronger the character, the less blast stock reliant he/she is and therefore he/she charges ki slower than other characters. Ever wonder why Chaotzu, Krillin, Hercule and Yajirobe can charge so fast? But there's still not chance in hell Hercule could take Cell(or anyone else), but in BT3, a skilled Yamcha or Zangya CAN take down an Ape-- effortlessly.

However, I really wish you went into more detail on the differences between BT3's and RB2's fighting mechanics other than just saying one is more challenging than the other (which I assume you mean via AI opponents). I want to know what RB2 has that BT3 doesn't or vice versa when it comes to the core game. Thank you.

    RB2 has better combos, backgrounds, characters drawing is better and better graphics.
    Gameplay is phenomenal. Also it's easier to use and lean in BT3 which makes it worse in my opinion, the characters drawing in BT3 looks bad and the characters look pretty damn fat, maps are a lot smaller.

    But Kid Buu, Super Janemba, Kid Goku, Perfect Cell and Majin Vegeta are OP as hell. They don't really fall into any of my classifications. They are insanely powerful, fast and have fast ki charge good blast stock control. The only reason SS4 Goku and Vegeta don't fall into this category is because they have relatively slow ki charges, and Goku has basic combos(albeit he has a useful Instant Transmission). Still, absurdly powerful. Won't see Guldo beating him anyday.

      *****
      You do realize that the Combo, Max Power, Dragon Dash, Burst Dash, Super System, Ki charging and Transformations being separate characters with different move sets came almost directly from Tenkaichi 2 & 3? That's like... 95% of the fighting system.
      Raging Blast 2 is just more cinematic that Raging Blast 1.
      The games are so close that I started playing Tenkaichi 3 and when I got Raging Blast 1, I was practically just as skilled as I was at Tenkaichi 3.
      I then moved on from Raging Blast 1 to Raging Blast 2. and all I had to do was get around the slight slowdowns that occurred during the Cinematic camera changes.
      They have almost the exact button layout with the exception of Charge and Supers being allocated to different buttons.
      I played Tenkaichi 3 religiously and the reason I got Raging blast 1 was because I read from so many reviews that Tenkaichi 3 and RB1 were almost identical as far as combat goes, and I will say this: I got what I was expecting.
      It was even made by the same people.

  • @EternalDahaka
    @EternalDahaka Před 11 lety

    Of course BT3 is worse with it's current online connection, which is why I mentioned how it hypothetically would be with a perfect connection. If it had a good connection, you'd be able to roll over Sonic Sway and most super spam.
    And BT3 has way more defensive options than RB2. You can sway the rush in BT3 if you can't vanish it and follow up with a rush tech. Deflecting beams looks cool, but isn't any more effective than just vanishing it.
    RB2 is better balanced with the character's health.

    I don't know why no one talks about the graphics of BT3. When watching RB2 videos, I dislike the graphics as they seem plasticky and don't resemble the DBZ animation. BT3 graphics, on the other hand, look more like the actual anime style. The music in the game and the character selection screen just look so good, especially the design of the characters while choosing them. All these aspects are why I love BT3, and I haven't seen anyone talking about it.

    BT3 will always remain superior. RB2 is too watered down and sluggish, its trash compared to BT3. All they really just did with the RB series was attempt re-create the BT series water it down and add HD visuals. That's not what we need that was basically a scam.

    Yes, but the giant monkeys are five times slower, harder to dodge with, and are susceptible to the opponent spamming EVERY blast attack in his arsenal. If you play long enough, you realize that certain characters(Pan, Guldo, Salsa, Bardock, Gohan(Adult)) are not on par with close combat skills against others (Super 17, Master Roshi, Zangya, Nova Shenron), but can out-class defensive character or blast reliant characters(Chaotzu, Tien, Freeza, Ginyu, Cui or Kiwi, Yajirobe, Vegeta scouter only).
