    UPDATE!!! - The rode central update now allows for batch exports! Not quite as easy as just transferring WAV files but at least you can do it in one pass. Also, the Rode fixed the connection issue with certain USB cables with their latest firmware! But my preproduction unit on the DJI is still giving me issues. DJI says they’ll let me swap it out for a production model and let me test so I’ll come back after I see if it’s been fixed.
    Biggest benefit to the DJI model is that it doesn’t peak nearly as easy if you’re using the microphone on the unit. But Rode has solid reliability, and they also now sell a megnetic clip as well. I tried getting the charging case for the ride but I’m not a big fan of the one I got. The case will discharge even after the rodes are full

Hope they figure out that side button though, I have people put their transmitters in their pockets and it does worry me that they could accidentally turn it off. I'm probably going to buy this to replace the Sony wireless microphone.
    The case makes things so much simpler. Plus the safety tracks and internal recording are a big bonus.
    The Sony has the advantage of being able to transmit audio through the MI shoe instead of a 3.5mm cable, but it doesn't give you any control over the input levels if you use the MI shoe.
    Plus the Sony just completely cuts out audio if the noise goes beyond a certain decibel level (e.g. a noisy vehicle exhaust passes you)

      @@scottslotterbeck3796 yeah I nearly bought the tascam before.
      But after using a wireless mic that feeds audio directly into the camera, I don't want to return to the hassle of syncing audio and video.
      Especially because I have a lot of short clips shot through the day. Sometimes it takes a long time for the auto sync to work out where everything goes and sometimes it just won't sync at all and I have to do it manually.
      At least with the DJI, you have the best of both worlds. The audio is fed straight into the camera but you also have internal recording in the mic itself and safety track support.
      I know the rode system also has those features but it doesn't include the handy case that protects and charges the system.

    Sounds good, but the DJI did sound slightly muddier. The high pitched noise sounds like unshielded microphone cable getting close to a transmitter. Try testing this by bringing the microphone cable near the transmitter to see if the noise comes and goes as you move the cable closer and further. I suspect that the DJI isn’t shielded or compensating or has it’s antenna in a position that will cause that issue more frequently than the Rode.

    • @ericd7709
      @ericd7709 Před 2 lety

      Note that both external lav mics were by Rode (SmartLav+ ?). It may be that DJI relies more on shielded cables, and Rode relies more on 'balanced' +/- signals and 'common-mode rejection'.
      DJI is missing a market opportunity by not making and selling a matched lav mic. Surprising for them to miss an accessory out! There are plenty of 3rd parties that would make to order cheap, for them to mark up the price.
      There may be timing issues if both the mics and the recorder are 'smart' and try to adapt between the 3.5mm jack specifications (TRS/TRRS). Sometimes just re-plugging or hot/cold plugging makes a difference.

      Yeah. I really hope it doesn't suffer from the same issues I heard people with the Rode Go 2 suffer from (especially with Sony cameras). I own a Rode Go 1 and a7S III and I'm constantly looking for videos like this to decide what I should get: DJI or Rode Go 2.
      The problem I have is that whenever the Receiver is close to the camera's mic input jack there's really annoying interference captured. You have to move it to the grip on the right side to get it to stop (easy enough if you have a cage with a cold shoe there and a longer cable but not ideal).
      Partially a fault of the camera's lack of good shielding, but if you play your cards right and buy from a place that has a return policy, you can just test it day 1 and see. If the shielding is crap, send it back. Sooooo, I don't know if DJI would want half of their products returned or something, or are they imagining it's only going to be used on action cameras?
      However... what we saw and heard in this video was that there were problems "sometimes"... So is that still shielding? Wouldn't those problems appear like every time? If a reboot fixed it then maybe software has a part to play in all of this? I don't know... Just speculation (obviously more testing is required).

    13:37 this is RF Interference. This is only solved with shielding inside the actual product or by isolating the device from another wireless device and signal. Was the DJI receiver being used when recording this segment or was the transmitter being used as a recorder only? I was very keen to get the dji as backup mics on weddings but this might be the deal breaker. Already tried the go2 and the clipping and having to use an app to transfer files was a very bad experience. Just need something that is reliable so I can set and forget. guess I got to just keep waiting for the next Gen of these rec/transmitters.

    • @JOTC
      @JOTC Před 2 lety

      @@LilSassy currently trying the lensgo 348c. Interference gets bad when recording audio+receiving to the camera when lets say someone is holding a phone that is video calling in and the mic is close to the phone to pick up sound. So currently just using the transmitter as a recorder only. but that means theres still no way of monitoring audio which is a nightmare because it also does not have a hardware limiter. sounds good though when not peaking lol but definitely not a good solution. The new deity wireless has a hard limiter but no recording feature in the transmitter so hoping they would add that feature in the next gen and id get that depending on the RF. for pro use its not there yet with these. Im sure they all work well for like youtube studios or vlogging etc.

But I like the unified charging case and increased storage. I have the original Wireless Go but the biggest issue I have with it is the clipping. Sounds like either system would a good upgrade but I'm leaning DJI when the production versions come out
