  • In this video, new learner driver Josh takes his first ever driving lesson with Pin from DGN Driving School. Pin goes through the cockpit drill, which teaches Josh how to find all of the car's controls. They also practice setting Josh's seat position and mirrors so that he can see clearly all around the car. Finally, they practice moving off for the first time.
    This video is perfect for anyone who is about to start their driving lessons. It provides a clear and concise explanation of the cockpit drill, and it shows how to set your seat position and mirrors correctly. The video also includes footage of Josh practicing moving off, which can help you to visualize what it's like to drive a car for the first time.
    If you're a learner driver, or if you're thinking about getting your driver's license, then this video is a must-watch. It will give you a great foundation for your driving lessons and help you to feel more confident behind the wheel.

    Thank you very much @DGN school.I used your ultimate driving lesson course to prepare for my driving test. My husband was my guide and instructor…he is not a professional instructor, I did few practices with him and few friends and yesterday I did and passed my practical driving test at first attempt.

    These days no one uploads very long videos cause attention spans are shorter.
    But for people who really wanna learn how to drive. Full, uncut, unedited videos helps a lot for new learners. As this gives insights on what might happen in their first day of practise and onwards. Also to know what to expect.
    Even if their experience depends on the driving instructor they hire.

    Currently 23 hours in and starting my mock tests next week. Honestly, for anyone new to driving. After like 5-7 lessons its so relaxed and things start becoming second nature. I sometimes forget how I make it home from lessons, and observations are done without realising. The best thing you can do is trust your instructor. They're always watching and prepared to correct your mistakes, so don't feel afraid to drive and make less progress.

    Started driving around the beginning of May for my birthday, started watching your videos long before that and it really helped in my lessons, now I'm doing a lot by myself including junctions and moving off etc., I'm a very anxious person so I was worried I would be too scared to pull out on a junction or do anything myself without questioning it, now although I still do question what I do I'm a lot more confident and my instructor even trusts me enough to take a drink or go on his phone for a few seconds. I'm only 15 hours in but I already love it so much. :))

    Well done Josh on your first driving lesson. I am a learner driver in Ireland and I have completed well over 20 lessons and I am practicing in my car with my dad. I was really surprised that you never stalled as this is the first thing that happens to any new driver. My first lesson was in a car park with the instructor just going through the theory. Starting to drive on the first day with the beginner in the driver seat is the best way to be a confident driver. I really look forward to the next lesson and I know Josh will be confident on what he did in the first lesson and make no mistake.

    Just learning to drive after riding year round for 5 years. Got my full motorcycle license and am extremely confident on the road. However, in a vehicle which operates a little differently (albeit along the same lines) it's quite interesting and even a little stressful at times 😂 Gear changing is especially interesting because although clutch control on a bike is extremely important for slow speed control, you can shift without use of the clutch, which I do. Selecting the gear in a car is definitely my biggest struggle currently. That pointer you gave where you place your right foot in a spot where you can pivot on your heel to use both pedals will be very useful to me next lesson. (Just had my first lesson yesterday.) Thanks!
    Been watching your videos for a while now Pin and they are worth their weight in gold. Many thanks!

    I was very lucky when I was Young,I grew up on a farm driving tractors,land rovers etc and we had a couple of beetles as field/track cars from 11 years old.the beetles were a great way to learn car control in a stubble field or grass paddock.I knew how to control a skid long before I could legally go on the road.I had four two hour lessons before my test and that was mainly getting what an examiner was expecting right.I passed first time.Respect to those starting from scratch,it must be very hard.

    I find it fascinating at how people adapt in different ways on their first lessons, and also how nervous the student is but also how much the instructor has to adapt to suit the students needs.
    I think I was fortunate when I was younger, that being driven to and from school every day I picked up quite a bit of knowledge and understanding of how a car operates, that by the end of my first 1hr lesson my instructor asked me to drive home, as I showed a good understanding of car positioning and clutch control and was able to change gears.
    When he asked me to drive it home I was TERRIFIED as it was only my first lesson! Made it home in 1 piece after stalling the car right outside my house 😅🤣
    Would be intseresting to know how other people's first lessons went.

  • @Tjezee
    @Tjezee Před 9 měsíci +1

    As you asked how much different our first driving lesson went here is my experience. My instructor has a very different teaching style and build up my confidence massively at the start.
    She only made me use gas, signals and steering as she picked me up from my home which has a very busy street in front of it, didn't have to bother with mirrors, clutch, brake, gears. She navigated us towards a low traffic area where I learned clutch, brake first. Then targetted braking ( stop next to a lamppost ). Then I was in control of the gears. She did not mention she did help me with clutch which was actually great. ( I put it too high every time I reckon ) Moving off, proper way of switching gears with clutch, signals. I didn't have to use the mirrors at all which was great because it gave me time to adjust to doing multiple things at once, she did prompt me to look ahead and see if I could adjust my speed so we would move behind some trucks on a t-junction and we moved off towards some faster roads. I did do my best effort to look myself but it was expected that I missed a lot.
    In lesson two she revealed she gave me clutch help and let me experience nearly stalling if I did it on my own. That was quickly adjusted on my part because I already had the technique down, now just the right balance. We tackled many easy, low traffic roundabouts to get the gearing and approach speeds under control ( I was badly prepared by coming in too fast ). She let me 'fail' the approach speeds so its better to understand why it's so much easier to prepare.
    Third lesson we started with mirrors. Again, fantastic. Because I did not have to think all that much about clutch, brake, gas, gears and steering anymore and I picked everything up quite a bit faster because of it. It might seem like I'd have to re-learn a lot in the right sequence but because I was already prepared in every other way, focussing on just the mirrors was not as hard.
    Going on the motorway and learned how to manage that, did hill-starts, 3 point turns and reversing in a bend, and a sloppy attempt at forward bay parking as I was too scared to hit a car.
    It's very interesting to see how much each style differs.

    My first class began on a busy road, My instructor told me a lot of things, but most of the things went over my head, I just shook my head for the sake of just showing I understood everything. After that when he told me to start the car and drive, that too on a busy road, I was like WT%. I just asked him can we go to a road where there is less traffic and start my first lesson. He told me he will take care of that. I was really frightened to even put my leg on the gas, was really nervous that day. But this driving lesson video I really liked, I wished I had got an instructor like you.

    • @gxrgie2696
      @gxrgie2696 Před 10 měsíci +1

      Go out local when the roads are a bit quieter and just stick to short routes, do it a few times a day to build up your confidence :) it’s not as bad as you think it will be I promise. Enjoy!

    • @windroid_user
      @windroid_user Před 10 měsíci +1

      ^this, my first drive was actually abroad on the other side lol, don't recommend unless you feel somewhat prepared😂
      But yea remember your "training", stick to your routines, e.g. second gear on approach for roundabout, mirrors any time you change direction etc.
      Try to relax by enjoying it tbh, but stay switched on and don't have any distractions such as music (unless it helps) or another person waffling about the weather or something lol
      Once again, enjoy!
      Edit: speak out loud helps!

      So thankfully I drive an automatic so it’s not to bad, however my first drive unfortunately can’t be somewhere I feel comfortable or know as it’s going to be driving back from the car dealership as they don’t deliver unfortunately, thankfully the drive is only 10 minutes so I know I can do it it’s just so scary

    • @windroid_user
      @windroid_user Před 10 měsíci +1

      That's fine, because guess what? You can drive!
      Man, imagine my brain/heart when I caught myself turning into the wrong side of the dual carriageway in the first 10 mins.
      Thankfully I caught myself before entering and it was nice and quiet, did my checks before reversing (only one car far away), and continued on my way.
      If anything happens, try to stay calm and follow the logical way out/through it.
      And YES no manual & foreign country should make it easier🤣
      I'm sure you've already thought of this, but if you can have someone non-distracting with you to pick it up then you could do that, just don't overthink about it and you'll be fine though : )

    I realise doing it properly would be information overload on Josh's first lesson, but it made me cringe every time Pin had him sitting there chatting away about procedures with the clutch grinding away at the friction point. All I could think of was how many clutch plates does he go through each year!!! Learners should be told that clutch plates are consumable items that can cost a lot of money to replace😂😂
