Oh my god, yeah. I have this game on GBA and ever since I was a kid, I was like "this is bland. This is repetitive." The tilting feels pretty bad regardless of context. The way Yoshi controls is really simple, so you rarely have to do anything but jump. Thing is, when you tilt the console, Yoshi sort of rotates on his ankles, and it's very disorienting, and whether or not you're moving with or against the tilt, Yoshi always feels like he's climbing uphill; the movement is slow, jumps feel unpredictable, and there is no sense of momentum, ever. And, there are insta-kill hazards EVERYWHERE. The transformations are frustrating and never behave like how you want them to, which makes them feel almost impossible to calculate sometimes. The boat is the worst offender of this, as I genuinely do not know how tilts control the water. It just goes wherever it wants and Yoshi dies over and over. There are also basically no normal levels in this game. They're functionally obstacle courses with certain clear conditions. Time trials are this game's favorite type of mission, and it's miserable. There's no sense of exploration or progression. The levels are just random assets put together in a rough-hewn manner that feel more like what a better game would reserve as remix/challenge levels that reuse elemts from the main game. Except it is the main game. Even if the controls weren't torture, the game would still be thoroughly unenjoyable. 3/10
Funnily enough, I'm currently working on an AU Fan Game Fanfic thing called Kirby Red Diamond which like Topsy-Turvy is a game that uses Jiro controls (even though it's a 2D platformer) but the difference is that you only need to use the tilting in some areas, most of the game plays like any other normal 2D Kirby platformer.
I gave up on this game last night because I was so frustrated with the controls. Not to mention the objective mission based structure of these levels is too punishing for a Yoshi game especially in the later worlds.

@@ThatYozzyBloke Unless I misunderstood... You never actually used the physical cart. Which means you missed out on the visual feedback of tilting. Tapping L and R on a patched ROM is not the same because the screen remains stationary, thus you don't get the visual immediacy of tilting your whole system. I bought a loose copy for £26 out of sheer morbid curiosity after seeing this. Because I'm convinced the haters just emulated the patched version. Except for the one guy in the comments who said he owned it as a kid. Unless he too emulated it. You might be right. But I feel one cannot authentically judge this unless they're playing a physical cart and moving an actual system.

Update: I eventually went back to the game and completed it and man was it frustrating but I still pulled it off. To hell with this game.

Fair point, I was merely judging how the tilting mechanics in general damper the gameplay.
