  • Hello to all my viewers and subscribers! I had a request to do a video in the dark using my Surefire Aviator flashlight that I had purchased in the white/red combo. Check it out and let me know of any questions! Here's what I found:
    1) Up close, (books, maps, etc.) or in your car or your house at night, the low red works great and preserves your dilated pupil night vision.
    2) Outside (camping, hunting, etc.) the high red is a nice option.
I hope this comes through on the video! Please let me know of any questions. Thanks again for watching!

Thanks a million. I have very light sensitive eyes , and have went through many cheap red lights. I own a couple surefire lights and love the quality in them , but have even found myself putting red filter on my weapon light. Looks like I'll get this one also. And super thanks for your time and effort.👍

You're welcome! I'm glad you were able to get enough out of the video. I know what you mean, Surefire isn't cheap but for sure worth it--it'll last forever and are durable as heck. Thanks for watching!

Trank you very much for the Info. Questions: Can you stick the light on a cap with the clip as a headlamp? Is the low mode (white light) enough for normal tasks (walking to car, inside dark house, etc)? Does the light offer a useful spread next to the flood? Any issues on the high white or red modes in terms of getting too hot or reducing brightness if longer on (> 15 minutes)? Thanks again for the video 😊

Thanks for watching and supporting my channel! Yes, it has a hat-clip to attach to brim of a baseball hat (it will also attach to your pocket with either the bezel up or down) I've used it that way already and the clip locks firmly on to the hat. The low mode white light is great for everything you mentioned, the high mode of white light (maximum battery use) has no issues with dimming after even 30 min. of continuous use and it does not heat up significantly. The high white pierces complete darkness well out into the distance and is exceptionally bright for such a small light. The low red I use indoors next to my bed if I need to find my water glass or check the time on my watch. The high red I use to reflect off the ceiling in my bedroom to get a better view of anything in the room.
When you turn the bezel to move from RED to OFF to WHITE (or in the reverse order), the actual LED element is rotated to the exact center of the bezel so you get the same awesome focus of light. Some flashlights have the 2 LED elements offset in the same bezel, and that causes problems with the beams; SureFire gets around that problem. I use this light all the time--just about daily--and would say it's one of the best flashlight purchases I've ever made. I have no complaints or issues with this product. This is the only flashlight I put in my suitcase and travel with as well.

@@docgsreloading7985 Thank you very much for your quick and extensive answers, highly appreciated. I will now pull the trigger on the light, expensive put as you mentioned really useful every day and with the intelligently 2 different lights without competition in my opinion.
Please keep up with your great work :-)

hi bro nice review question for switch colors u just rotate or pull and rotate?

    • @docgsreloading7985

Hey, thanks for watching and supporting my channel! Yes, all you have to do is rotate the bezel and it snaps into place from white to off to red or the reverse of that. The actual LED bulb rotates into position, so it's always centered in the bezel (some lights don't do that) so you get the same focus and intensity from each color of light.

Does the light output a lot of rings? I have an older Backup with TIR lens and it outputs a pleasantly white circle, but the rest of the spill has a number of light rings. Sometimes, those rings can be distracting. I hope this light doesn't. Thank you

Thanks for watching and your question! I know what you're talking about and no, this light does not have any rings in either the red or white light mode.

@docgsreloading7985 Thank you. This light is quite old (released back in 2015, I think), I'm not sure if they will be updating it. Apart from that, I think it's perfect.

I purchased a white / red aviator. The white hot spot is symmetrically round. The red hot spot is not. Sort of U Shape with top of U straight. Just wondering if yours looks that way.
    Thanks

Thanks for watching! No, mine is a solid round beam of light. I double checked it last night in the dark and it's round on both the high and the low setting of both the red and white light modes. Hopefully it doesn't degrade the functionality of the flashlight.

does the low white setting affect your night vision more than the high red setting?

    • @docgsreloading7985
      @docgsreloading7985  Před rokem

Hey, thanks for watching! Having used the light quite a bit, I'd say yes, the low white light setting (although very dim) is still brighter than the low red setting, so it would affect your night vision more.

@@docgsreloading7985 would you still pick the red over the other choices? I don’t see many people picking blue, but the amber and yellow-green seem like possible options.
