Yankees fan and battling these guys in the World Series was incredible. It was like looking in the mirror and playing a team exactly identical as the ours especially in 1999. Great memories!!
Woah, here are the OG’s I grew up watching in the 90s as a kid. I’m 37 now and the current 23-24 Braves squad may get the rings these guys never got but this is where it all started for me.
The underrated thing about the 90's Braves is that they did not always have All-Star talent for starting position players, but the players were utilized well and still won 100+ games multiple seasons. For every Jones, Pendleton or Justice, there was Quilvio Veras, Bret Boone, Michael Tucker, Luis Polonia, Gerald Williams, etc.
I'm 36. In the 90's Braves Baseball was a staple in the summertime on TBS almost every night. As a Cards fan in St. Louis I didn't care for the Braves very much as a team but really liked a lot of their players like Chipper, Smoltz, Glavine, Justice, Pendleton and Lopez........back in the good ole days.....
The Braves were an awful franchise, dreadful really, before Cox came in there. He helped change the entire dynamic and future of the Atlanta Braves and look how great they have been with his systems still in place after all these years. It's a top end organization now. Cox deserves a hell of a lot of credit.
At the same time though, they were always in the Yankees shadow. The Yankees won four titles in the late 90’s -‘00s. Braves during that time could only win one, and came on the losing end of two of them to the Yankees. They should’ve won in ‘91 and ‘96
Absolutely. If I had to choose one pitcher, ever, to pitch in a game 7 World Series...it would be Smoltz, no hesitation. His post season numbers are insane. 15-4 with a 2.67 ERA in 41 career postseason games, (and in two of those four losses, he surrendered only unearned runs).
One the of the Comments mentioned "Chokers"! I was in my 30's when the Braves made the 14 Straight "Division Champs and we won One World Series. I know it was frustrating but Mom (Passed away in 2019) said it best. All those Division wins the Braves did is great. Everything else no matter how far the Braves made it into the Post Season is "Gravy".
well Fred McGriff can join them now and I definitely think Andruw Jones will more than likely join them since his voting percentage was at 61.6 and could increase next year.
They only choked in "96. In '91, they went to the bottom of the 9th in game 7, the blue Jays were better than Atlanta in '92, and well '99, NY was way better
dawgsfan1196 Exactly!! I mean really people call them chokers without context; Blue Jays was better. Twins actually got us in the bottom of the 10th and 99 Yankees were better. So yes we should have won more but in October it’s who can get the big hit.
This is the Braves team I grew up on.

All that amazing talent at one table...beautiful.

Don't forget they also had players like Galaraga and Mcgriff and Andruw Jones.
@@sparklesthecat6507 well aware of that. Kind of missed my point
@@sparklesthecat6507 McGriff should be in the Hall.
@@thabeaststl3703 he will be inducted next summer! 🤗

Jim fucking leyrtiz 🙈
Steroids.....
Wish we could see the entire show again on here
The one season I still shake my head about is '96
Shake your head off your neck
that’s bad, the nlcs loss to san diego in 98 is worse in a way
Ugh! Jim Leyritz!
Plenty of talent sitting there, but yeah, Greg is easily the greatest one there. No question in my mind.
Ironically he seemed to implode in the postseason
Arguably the greatest pitcher of all time, although it's hard to pick 1 of course. 4 straight Cy Young awards is just insane.
@@jared1940 yeah he wasnt the same in the post season ,thats where smoltz excelled
Mad respect in that room
Why are you mad?
Glavine… great! Maddox …. Magnificent!! But someone to pitch for my life??? Smoltz

These are great! Is there a link somewhere for this entire convo?
Is there a way to watch this whole thing?
Where’s the Crime Dog..Fred McGriff?
He wasn't elected into the HOF
Sadly, not in the HOF. Great career, may eventually be rewarded, but as of now not there.

The LEGENDS TABLE
Where's the full interview?
Been looking for it forever. I think it aired locally in Atlanta and that's it. But it's insane nobody has posted it.
Dale Murphy should be at that table
Granted but Dale is not a Hall of Famer.
unfortunately he played when the braves were bad

At the end of the day, you're right. They should have had 3 or 4 rings.
