Man, reeeally love your channel. Just got my e36 and already got someone to show me stuff. Thanks!🔥💯💪🏾
Thanks man 🤘🏼👌🏼 enjoy your e36 👌🏼
E36 is LIFE
Hell yeah 🤘🏼🔥
Hey mate, what takes the side to side play is the dssr, the shifter only changes the throw.
Yeah I need to replace mine but haven’t got round to it yet
Thought that short shifter just plug n play. But if it needs that many works to install it, I need to think twice 🤔
Haha yeah it’s definitely not as easy as it seems 😂 it’s good tho
Every bmw I’ve driven has had a floppy shifter - including mine. At this point I’m convinced it’s from factory
Yeah true hahah need a proper self cantering shifter to get rid of the flop but they are expensive
I recently bought a 96 318i 5 speed don’t worry ima swap the 6cyl in once I blow the 318i up I kinda wanna see how much boost it can hold before it blows
I have heard the 318i can handle quite a bit of boost!👌🏼
@@MaxFuller yea I kinda wanna push it to its limit before I swap it U don’t see to many of em because logical thing to do is drop in the straight 6 but we not logical around here🤣
We have the same build path. I got a 316i with the M43 with only 140k km once I thoroughly enjoy the engine I’ll swap in an M50B25
@@zlowe3643yooo I’m doing the same rn!!!! Already have an ls1 ready to go in
hi did you do poly bushings before/after doing this?
Done it at the same time
Hey does it still use a push down to find reverse or does it just happily go in now without any safety precaution
Hi, no these don’t have push down, they don’t have push down from factory either, to put into reverse it’s just a lil bit stiffer than the other gears ☺️
The safety is using the force of god to put it in reverse 😁
@@zlowe3643 fr 😂
What size drill bit did you use?
I can’t remember, probably around a 6mm
Link for the handbrake plate??

Any way of getting the slop out when in neutral ??
Yeah, you can change the little bush/linkage on the gearbox, but it’s really hard to get to when it’s in the car
@@MaxFuller Yea but just to remind you that there will always be play in that part. The shifter can't work if that bushing is solid.
I had to drill out that hole too. So annoying
Haha yeah man, I don’t see why they can’t just make it the right size to start with haha I actually watched your video before installing mine 😂
Mine won’t go into reverse now, but every other gear works, any help?
That’s weird, try adjusting the throw on the bottom of the shifter
Installed it today and had the same issue. Then when the reverse worked, the 5th didn't work anymore. Have you found a solution?
Please fix your oil leaks before modding your car
Oil leaks prevent rust
Guys if you already have a sloppy shifting feeling then installing this short shifter will only amplify and ruin your transmission and dentent even faster since the entire weight of this long short shifter is resting on your transmission detents all the time
Nope, thats not true at all my dude.
Bro it’s literally a chassis mounted shifter, in fact I’m pretty sure we both seen this guy Mount it with four bolts to hug onto the chassis
So how is shifter messing up anything?
@@oa4604 you must not see what I see right ? Since you have to ask the question it’s really common sense guys. I’m speaking from experience not just talking out of my rear end. What poIINT are you getting at with the 4 mounting bolts ? Lol
My message to the public was don’t think this is going to solve your sloppy shifting issues. And since there is no self centering spring with these budget line of chassis mount shifters the entire rod assembly and pivot is reliant on your transmission internal centering springs. If you need more of explanation then I suggest you do more research between the pros and cons of self centering spring chassis mounted shifters 🤷🏼♂️
@@onesikm3 the mounting bolts are for the shifter being mounted to the actual car which also supports the weight of the entire shifter
If your scared about springs, the ones that are inexpensive and replaceable (that should probably be serviced since it’s “sloppy feeling”) then you should be watching the video on how to install the self centering shifter which was designed for what a short shifter isn’t designed for SELF CENTERING
YOU need to go online and deal with the problem the YOU worsened because of mods before maintenance 🤦♂️
@@oa4604 what spring ? You learned one thing and your coming here trying to teach me something ? There’s nothing e chassis related I can learn from you so no thank you! And do you just go around trying to be a dick ? Nah dude you need to go online and read some more and then go pay your mechanic to fix the problems on your car and also I think it’s your bedtime so go have some more milk n cookies kid LOL
WHILE YOUR ONLINE READING HOW TO’s I’m out in the garage building race cars and making shit happen ✌🏼
