      A lot of suggestions ! Back stroke start, Back stroke flip, efficient "wall touch" at the end of a race, warm up in The pool before a race (according to your distance), warm up out of The pool before training, exact movement of your arms in breast stroke... Again thx for your vids, you give a very original way to learn and get some concepts I never saw before. It gave me new motivation to go Back training !Keep going !

    At 3:16 in the video is the BEST overhead shot showing the leading hand orientation before the catch begins. Pinky slightly down, thumb slightly up. Many mechanical reasons why this is good.
    Most people have pinky and thumb horizontal putting internal strain on their shoulders.
    Great video!

      You rock! So glad you appreciate this shot so much. We not only try and make these videos aesthetically pleasing, but we also pick the shots that we find to be the perfect fit to show the dynamics of the drill. Thanks for the support!

    hey there
    I actually got my self a snorkel but swimming with it is not that natural.
    it looks like some training is essential. I'm almost 40 and I swim from the age of 14 so my body and muscles are used to certain type of swimming. I am swimming in a team that helps me refine my style but still old habits are hard to change. how would you recommend to practice snorkeling

    It would really help if you would show the drill from a chosen angle for more than 1 second before cutting to a different angle. Constant video cuts makes it hard to follow what you're trying to demonstrate.

  • @MRfisheri
    @MRfisheri Před 7 lety +1

    Great drill. Just started subscribing few weeks ago. One thing, or request I should say though about your videos, is that could you make the shots longer? Make the stroke clinic of each shot longer. Currently your style is more like in short montages. But that would ruin the channel's signature style though using longer shots. Maybe one suggestion is to upload a separate video of the drill but with long shots.

    • @PhlexSwim
      @PhlexSwim  Před 7 lety

      This is a great idea! We are doing some brainstorming in the background about how we can just be able to provide beautiful long montages of the drill. Thanks for the feedback and for subscribing!

    Thanks for this drill Phlex. Another great vid. Always thought I was really slow when doing this drill; turns out I'm slacking on my legs hahaha. Thanks for the correction.
    When I first used this drill, I tend to hurt my shoulders. Don't actually know what I did to correct my stroke; I listened to my body, and experimented with the catch until I get one I'm comfy with. So yeah, careful with your shoulders when drilling freestyle.
    P.S. I'm way behind the pack in this vid (sorry, offline world stuff), but I still luv u guys all the same

    Yo guys! love the work that y'all do. I got a question btw. I swim with a 2 beat kick, even in events as short as the 200 free; so, is overkicking cool, or should I be doin something different in the drill?
    Thanks. Keep up the awesome work.

    • @PhlexSwim
      @PhlexSwim  Před 7 lety +1

      Thanks for the love! In our experience you are going to have to learn to become a dynamic kicker. Me personally (Ryan, from the last video), I was a distance swimmer so I am like you and always had a 2 beat kick. Once I got to Florida and trained under the great mid distance US Olympic coach Gregg Troy, I learned the importance of bringing my legs into my freestyle. You should treat your stroke in a mile and a 200 FR completely different and definitely start training that way before implementing in practice. Next time you are doing anything fairly quick and pacing (50s and 200 pace) give it a go with a strong and not exhausting attempt of 4 or 6 beat geek. Look to the best mid-distancers in the world for visual advice on this.

    So, is this something which will ultimately become how I swim on race day, or is it just a drill? I don't want to over kick as I'm a triathlete and need my legs for the other stuff.

    • @PhlexSwim
      @PhlexSwim  Před 6 lety

      Hey! Thanks for your comment. This is definitely not what you will be doing usually, this is just a drill that will help touch up your normal freestyle stroke by engaging in your core and legs. If you are a triathlete, we made a video explaining a bit of this style of training. czcams.com/video/c14n5DeI7CY/video.html
