  • A whole season of whale watching in Húsavík (Iceland) summed up in a 10 minutes video: Húsavík is considered the whale watching capital of Europe with the humpback whales frequenting Skjálfandi Bay from April to November. Seasonal, other species -
such as the blue whale - pass by as well whilst they are on their migration north towards their feeding grounds.
Species shown in video: humpback whales, blue whales, orcas, white-beaked dolphins

    Hi Sarah,
Great great video! Im actually preparing my trip to Iceland, but we are a bit hesitant since it would be a big detour to Husavik for us. I would appreciate your honest opinion: Are the chances good to see whales in the first week of October?
Kind regards and thanks for the lovely upload

The videos are filmed on-board the boats of Gentle Giants Whale Watching. There's two types of tours: one on the traditional oak boat (refurbished former Icelandic fishing boats) and the other on RIB speed boats. Below are the links for both types of tours, where you'll also find more information on each tour as well as the company.
      For the oak boat: gentlegiants.is/tours-and-bookings/gg1-whale-watching
      For the speed boat: gentlegiants.is/tours-and-bookings/gg2-big-whale-safari-and-puffins
As for your last question: No, Húsavík doesn't offer any diving or snorkeling with these animals. All encounters are boat-based.
