I love the instructors calmness throughout the lessons, he would put you so much at ease if you were a very nervous trainee. Well done Marianne! Let's go boating!
Marianne your confidence since the first day is showing, I would feel very safe travelling in any boat with a confident skipper such as yourself! Congratulations on your successful powerboat licence, just brilliant!
Marianne was obviously thrilled about her accomplishment. Congratulations, Marianne. Please include her in more of your videos. She is lovely and interesting.
I'm taking my RYA 1&2 in two weeks time and this video has me PUMPED! I took the equivalent in Australia 10 years ago but the school went bust before I could register for an ICC and I have to take the tests again to charter in Greece this summer. Now I know exactly what to expect, and the training looks FAR more practical and useful than what I experienced before, which was 1.5 days of classroom nav and 30mins on a RIB. Not to say the navigation training wasn't useful, especially as I have sailed a decent amount since, but it left me with very little experience in handling a boat capable of planing speeds. Well done Marianne!
Such a cute couple. This is the other side of Aquaholic that is great. Not just tours of boats/yachts that I could never afford, but why being on the water in any craft is wonderful.
Awesome, your confidence comes through the video very well. As you already know boaters and yachtsmen are always willing to help anyone at anytime. Whether it’s to grab a line or give a tow to safety. Another fact, no matter how many decades of experience, we all mess up at some point. We just hope nobody noticed...lol. As long as while practicing you don’t end up with a Smugglers Blues 2/3rds, it’s all good...lol...
Thank you both, really enjoyed the experience with you, and it brought back lots of memories, and a few forgotten things from my motor boat courses many years ago. Richard
Thank you for sharing these, as a landlocked midlander with a pipe dream I really enjoyed sharing Marianne’s journey! I also really liked the way you happily took a (literal) back seat and offered gentle support. Loved the couple of minutes chat at the end when your good lady realised that actually she could and would ‘pop over’ somewhere on her own. Hope you still occasionally get to drive!!
Well done Marriane, very inspiring to watch. Great video Nick, this will lift people and let them feel they too can do it 👍. I love how the dog greets people with its toy, basically, I'm showing you this is my toy, don't forget it 😂😆👍❤️🇬🇧
Love the look of joy on Mariannes face as she progressively gained confidence and your encouragement of her sucesses. The lnstructor was very calm and patient if l ever were to be fortunate enough to own a boat l would definately contact Torquay Watersports. Thanks it was a very interesting series.
Congratulations again to Marianne, all about piling up those smiles per miles now. Great set of vids showing different parts of a very worth while course Nick. Bring on the season.
Where I live there's some big lakes and we point the boat we had and just go. But this is way more complicated than I thought it would be. Great job Maryann. Now you can do what ever you want out there and fell the freedom to do so. Nick you give her such great support in this. Gotta love that in any man. Thank you both .
I learned a few things today! That reversing with the line still tied is actually super useful when there is a boat behind you! Great job Marianne and nick!!
Nick - you are going to cost me a fortune!!!!! (I don't know whether to curse you or thank you!) I didn't realise I liked boats until your channel randomly popped up on my YT feed, and a few months later I've watched most of your vids and I'm about to enroll in an RYA course and am looking at what I can reasonably afford to buy as a starter/practice/weekend boat. Damn you! ;-)
Ah, the fun of boat berthing. I tried to park up my 11ft dinghy with a 15hp motor on a pontoon in Plymouth but couldn't remember how to do it. It went everywhere apart from where I intended it to go. Bit embarrassing as I'd forgotten my PB L2 training. I'd even done the a slightly higher level training on the Solent a couple of years later as well, but it couldn't compensate for not being on a boat for a few years.
Normal logic, and our brain kinda, works differently on water, esspecially when the water (tide) is moving and winds, manoevering the boat, without engines, the fact Marianne is learning and practicing using just Rudar and Forward and Reverse engines, with no thrusters, just shows its not easy to without practice, thought Marianne did really well, and the instructor so patient.... nice bunch of videos!. Thanks Nick!.
Brilliant! Well done Marianne. These PB2 vlogs will hopefully show those wanting to learn just how its done and inspire them onwards. Thanks (to you both) for uploading them. 👏🏻👍🏻
Just found your channel Nick..great stuff and great presentation skills (much better than my YT vlogs!!) ....I did my RYA L2 PB about 6 years ago and it's an excellent grounding. A powerful single engine RIB is a good way to understand maneuverability of a boat and using tide, wind and rudder/engine to help you. Marianne did brilliantly as it's quite intense the first time especially as it's sometimes tough to find that sweet spot on the throttle to move small distances. I remember over revving in the Eastbourne marina lock and lurching forward a few feet more than I wanted once ! (no damage !!)....Good to see the "kill cord" featuring near the end as didn't notice it in the first 2 videos and imho it's THE most important safety feature on RIBS. I think this course together with the RYA's Radio and also First Aid courses make a brilliant combination for all PB sailors and might make a good video for the future? Great the see the channel getting so much support
Great to see such a detailed video of this course. I'm about to take this course here in Australia and unfortunately that seems to be as far as I can take my RYA training here. I'm booked to do the Day Skipper Power in Palma, Majorca in June and see what happens beyond that. Would be aiming to get professionally qualified and maybe find some work in boating in the future.
I will make my boat license in a year. I already have some experience with under 25HP boats and I really enjoyed it. This series is a great preview! Thank you a lot
Well done Marianne, see you did take to that like a duck to water! You could see you were brimming with confidence in the car on the way to completing your license. Nick you had better watch out there’s a new skipper in town! 😁
I just love watching this! Your collection of videos is entertaining, educational, calming and refreshing and it stands why you have the following that you do. Great job by Marianne! ⛵
Congratulations Marianne ! ! I see you took a drive past your next job - Captain of a Cruise Ship. Well, maybe a bit more time at the helm - but you COULD. Here's to a Summer filled with fun thanks in part to your RYA Level 2. BTW - your REAL bravery was agreeing to let ALL of "us" tag along - and no crying...
Extremely well done Marianne !!!! I'm totally inspired now... Tell me, is Nick really that transparent when you were looking back checking the direction of the engine. Definitely giving these guys a shout.. Despite being land locked in Milton Keynes, I feel a personal treat coming my way, all the best to both of you.
Excellent video Marianne and Nick. It would be really interesting to see a follow-up video(s) showing how Marianne transitions from a 7-metre RIB to Smuggler’s Blues 2, since they are quite different craft and will handle significantly differently. You could include tips on managing a variety of hull type - RIBs, displacement, deep-vees, chined and unchined etc. Maybe a look at other RYA courses too.
Goin Boatin has to be a t shirt lol . Massive well done Marianne watching your progress and confidence levels increase was absolute joy I could watch the adventures of Cap'n Marianne for hours . That surprise man overboard didn't even phase you again jolly well done .
Thank you so much for providing a proper insight into what this course covers. Better still, it was from my home bay! Great footage too considering you've done everything single-handed. Why some people hit the thumbs-down for this is beyond me.
What an excellent video into the insight of level 2 boating. This has been an inspiration to me. Well done Marianne, honourably achieved. When Nicks working you can take Smugglers for a crafty jaunt by yourself. Thanks for sharing Nick.
This was a great series, thank you for sharing. I feel much more confident about my PB2 course this weekend. Less daunting now I know more about what will be covered. Thank you
Great set of videos! Very useful for anyone planning to do their PB2. As you said at the end, it doesn’t make you an expert necessarily but at least you’ll be safer.
Great set of vlogs, reminded me of the PBL course I did in 2019 at North Devon Yacht Club. A very useful confidence building course. Thanks for sharing.
Nice to see, all about confidence boats, same as driving a car! She doing well 😃 I do think it should be compulsory to have a minimum RYA L2 to drive and small boat in the 🇬🇧.
A minute to learn, a lifetime to master Marianne, Great job Marianne, hide those keys to SB2 Nick! Lol Loved this set of videos Nick, even though I’ve completed my PB2 course, Nick’s final comment on MBY’s earliest memories video on their channel at 39 mins says it all 👌
It’s was a great watch Nick, your comments at the end of the MBY video the three of you did was spot on also, 👌 It’s extremely intimidating being a new boater,

.... thank you for sharing your day on the water Marianne, doing great by the looks of it, very brave of you to let Nick film you ! 👍😉🇦🇺
Nobody presents like AquaHolic does. Very Exquisite 🐳🚤
You're very kind :)
Marianne your confidence since the first day is showing, I would feel very safe travelling in any boat with a confident skipper such as yourself! Congratulations on your successful powerboat licence, just brilliant!
That instructor was excellent - if I still lived in the UK I would definitely be dashing down to Torquay to enrol.... Well done to Marianne!
Marianne was obviously thrilled about her accomplishment. Congratulations, Marianne. Please include her in more of your videos. She is lovely and interesting.

Watching Marianne get more and more comfortable on camera over the last year or so has been absolutely lovely. You’re one incredibly lucky man Nick!
